You know the actual first thing that got my attention from yesterday's episode was a beautiful kind of symbolism. We have all been watching serials and shows from so long. And the woman is always attributed to care, healing, unconditional love whereas the man is attributed to aggressiveness, protection, defence, brash and so on.

And in yesterday's episode we got to see such a chaste change in that mindset. It has always been - in any show - the male protagonist getting hurt while defending his beloved and being mesmerised while observing his beloved attend to his wounds.Yesterday - it was emphasis. Sonakshi was mesmerised by Dev while he oh-so-caringly tended to her wound. And mashallah - Dev has indeed won our hearts.

He is the epitome of contrast to the regular playboy type - aggressive - protagonists we get to see in regular . He is a hot- shot business man, caring, devoted to his family, sensitive to others feelings, EMOTIONAL , unconditionally loving. independent. We have seen him as a person who could not express his emotions not because his is an oh-so macho man but because he did not want his loved ones to know of anything else other than happiness. Yet all he received in return was that he was rude, insensitive, taunts and what not.It was not his fault.he did not know how to live life any other way. He still did not retaliate. After having seen his family's tremulous life and the hardships they have faced - he had vowed not to let any kind of even a shadow fall on them.

And then came Sonakshi - a complete contrast to our regular female protagonists. Fierce, strongly protective about her loved ones, passionate about her profession, courageous - enough to stand up to a business icon going against her ethics ; against the hormonal teenagers who taunted Nikki - enough to take the entire family's responsibility on her shoulders yet completely alive. She breathed out resistance into the laminar flow of Dev's power and that's what got things to change. A good kind of resistance. Introduced shades into his black and white life. She was a nutritionist in every way - she taught him to live a healthy life.

In our Devakshi's love story the progress was from not from hate to friendship to love. It was from attack on pride - to - begrudging partnership - mutual respect - which grew into an unspoken bond without either of them realising that they had fallen in love. And now that they do, the ehsaas is beautiful. Both of them suddenly want something, need something, do not care for anything other than themselves and that is going to be fleeting - this they will soon realise. For they have gone caring for others longer than life itself that there will come a time when willingly or unwillingly they have to fit their eqaution to not accommodate others but to adjust so that they fit somewhere in between.

And this is where issues start popping up. Love truly has so many shades. The only colour which truly has them all is white. Pure but blank, bleak white. It should not, may I hope come to that. for that will mean back to square one with bittersweet memories. They should realise that the rain - where they sowed the seeds of a new life tryly has the capability of splitting white into all its shades - in a form that they co exist happily, together. They cannot become a glass, letting all go through them because their relationship will not survive otherwise. They can't behave as an opaque because that will destroy their initial purpose of ho they were what they initially were. Instead be a prism. Let in and evolve out. And only DevAkshi can do that. Get ready IF for the most heartbreaking and strongest journey of two eternal lovers- their threads now intertwined in the most devastating or not - let's see .

What I absolutely love about Dev is that he's not the so called "angry young man" because that character for god knows why, is really popular on India. Why?!! Then they always show him cornering the girl, squeezing her arm in anger and she stands there, BLUSHING. 😡This really needs to change in India, they need more feminist characters like Dev who respect women, not out of curtesy, but just because you should!!
What really sold me on liking Dev is when Sona yelled at him saying, they would have let me work. And then Dev says, seriously? I didn't think you were the type that had to have permission to have a career. Did you ask for permission when you went to school? Worked in the hospital? Then why now?! (Obviously in Hindi, but it's so damn hard to write Hinglish). Because honestly, nothing's more attractive then a man who is a feminist.

And Sona. I LOOOVVVEEE her character so much, for millions of reasons. First, she is a proud, confident woman who doesn't care what money and power can do. Secondly, she doesn't just STAND THERE if someone is questioning her abilities (except maami...) or being rude to her, especially Dev.

Then there's DevAkshi together. It's probably one of the only healthy relationships in Indian shows. In other shows, the relationship is borderline abusive and toxic, yet it's called "romantic". You need love, trust, honesty, and respect in healthy relationships, and DevAkshi tick all of the boxes. ESPECIALLY today, I'm so use to the guy asking a "kiss" 🤢as a punishment, and it felt so nice and sadly surprising to see Dev say "what I want, is for you to tell me everything about you". He cares about emotions so much, and he doesn't feel ashamed that he has emotions (again, the "angry young man" personna says otherwise in tv shows). Sometimes it becomes all too much and he's cried, laughed, yelled everything. Because he's a normal human, gender doesn't matter.

Indian TV needs to create more characters like DevAkshi.
