😲😲😲

I just finished watching the episode and couldn't wait another second to come here ooh and aah over its brilliance. If there were any issues with it, I was blissfully blind to them, much like the lovestruck subjects of our story.

The continuation of the bonnet scene had me grinning through out. The juxtapsition of Sona's poetic flights of fancy and Dev's dry, cynical responses was a treat, and also showed how comfortable they are growing with one another. Neither of them held back their opinions at all even though they didn't agree one bit on the subject at hand. Dev's cynicism didn't make Sona self-conscious about her whimsy and the fact that Sona was clearly in lala land didn't make Dev hesitate to express his skepticism at all! Even in blunt disagreement, they both coexitsted so happily and that warmed the cockles of my heart.

And can we just talk about the fact that Dev challenged Sona to listen to his heart? It may have been an act of sarcasm, assuming her failure from the start, but little does he know that she has long taken up that challenge, willing to take on the difficulties that come with this inscrutable heart. This act was so symbolic of the way he has been letting her in, by challenging her to change his mind. She already has a record of suceedding in that department without him even realizing it, and now, without fully realizing, he is beginning to consciously seek her out when confronted with new and challenging experiences. He relies on her to help him make sense of things, the way she did with Nikki's sleepover, with Ishwari's fast, with his coffee and his sleeping pills... and with the question of love itself. The precap only illustrates this further.

Sona's rant was the most hilarious thing EVER, and Erica's comic timing was flawless in this scene. 😆 It so beautifully captured how it can be when you have feelings for someone. When you are in front of them, you can't say or do anything for sheer nervousness but once you get back to reality, all the feelings of frustration come pouring out. I loved how even the normally talkative Elena was totally stumped and speechless today, confronted with the force of Sona's frustration, both with herself and with Dev's obliviousness. But in the end, she couldn't bring herself to really blame Dev for any of this and showed how deeply she cares for him... she just wants him to be happy, even if that means setting up shop in the friendzone. 😒

And now the shocker... 😲

Neha's confession reminded me so much of a scene from Little Women by Louisa May Alcott, when one of the sisters (Meg) knows a man loves her but intends to turn him down until her rich aunt comes and accuses him of being a gold-digger, only interested in her rich relations. She then flares up and in angrily defending the guy (who also happens to be a tutor), realizes that she does in fact love him very deeply. In her impassioned state, Neha's feelings took over her practical concerns and she was finally able to free herself from her self-imposed prison. I like that they showed it coming out so impulsively... all the issues were not resolved before this moment happened for her but that is so realistic. Neha will probably continue to grapple with her past all her life, and it will make for a good storyline to see her do so, but that doesn't mean she shouldn't embrace the present when it is offering her an opportunity that her heart wants to take, despite all the practical concerns her brain is putting forth.

The tenderness in the Neha-Ishwari conversation just melted my heart. Accepting her love for Ranveer has allowed her to let Ishwari in for the first time since we met the Dixit family, and probably since much before that, and it was just beautiful to watch that unfold. Dev, with his less than stellar EQ is worried more about the practical stuff, showing how little he understands the root of Neha's pain despite being wholly sympathetic to it. Neha was never bitter because they didn't have things, she was bitter because the work she did, the hardships she suffered, and even the person she was went largely unacknowledged. She probably thought that having money would fix that, but became even more cynical when her situation remained very much the same despite improvement in their financial situation... that is, until Ranveer came along. Dev misreads her demands for material things as a love for the things themselves, when all they were were a cry for attention a plea to let her be her own person. Standing up for her love gives her a chance to do just that!

I realize that some of this post might have been terribly rambly! I'm still in a happy daze from the episode 😳😆

Sam!!!! I love this analyis! 🤗 Bowing down to the bold above! Did you notice as Sona got up to stand to express how it feels to be in love and went back to sit down, Dev got up too and said his bit? I just loved it! I love how you described that they 'co-exist.' That's exactly the happy medium you need in a relationship. Thora tu sun, thora main sunata/sunati hoon.

Thank you! 🤗 I did notice that, and I loved it too! It was almost like their conversation was a dance they were doing in which they weren't doing the same things, but their movements complemented each other. Yes, *sigh* this conversational aspect of relationships is so rarely shown in any medium and thereofre always a treat to see depicted, especially by beautiful specimens like Shaheer and Erica.

I guess they made a few different versions of the scene and decided on one that was different from the version shown in the segment? Maybe it wasn't flowing well with the rest of the scene? We may never know... but I was pretty happy with the scene as it was. 😃

Thanks for the response! I agree, today's episode was very close to perfection if not perfection itself! ❤️

Beautiful analysis Sam. What a lovely writers you guys are. How beautifully you juxtaposed their emotions, feelings, thoughts, expectation and their state of mind. And also the poetic stance about their co-existence and growth amidst their differences. That is one great writing there. I liked everything about the episode today. I really liked Iswari, Dev, Maamaji's reactions today. What outstanding actors we have for those characters. I liked the continuation of the bonnet scene and the heart-warming exchanges between Dev and Sona. Erica was so natural in that scene. But I am sorry for being the party pooper; I was a bit upset with Sona's outburst back home and the abrupt and plain nature in which Neha told her mother about her decision to marry. Why am I feeling it damp and spiritless? There was something missing for me, but I know I am the odd one out on those two fronts. So ignore that. Overall a wonderful episode. The best was Dev-Mom's scene. Ishwariji filled in the gap that Neha left behind (my opionion only), That scene was a great job done by Supriyaji in that scene.

Sam! 🤗 Loved loved loved your post! I just posted a ramble of my own too. We are out of control 😆 I LOVEDDD how you described the moment where he places her hand on his heart! So beautifully put! Also how you described their ease and comfort with each other.. *happy sigh* My ship.
Yaar, Sona's tantrum 🤣 Cracked me up so bad. 😆

Okay I loved what you wrote about Neha. I also loved what you said about Dev completely misinterpreting the source of Neha's misery. Brilliantly observed! Fantastic post overall.. you never write anything less than absolutely amazing anyway. yes, I'm an absolute fan of your write-ups. 😆

Can't wait for the precap! 😃
