Lately, my posts have been so meaningless that I felt my reputation was at stake, so I'm back with one of my long essays to reassure everyone (and myself) that the sensible me still exists. š š
I was about to take my afternoon nap when suddenly I was overwhelmed by the significance of the last couple of episodes. In all the happiness of finally getting Veer and Krishna married, we have ignored the importance these two episodes hold. The last few episodes were just so amazing and the transformation for so many characters was so apparent that I couldn't resist writing.
The last two episodes, that is Friday's and today's were just so important, in my opinion, that they need discussion. These episodes not only finally transformed characters from one phase to another but also gave new dimensions to many relationships within the show.
These episodes gave us an amazing transformation of Veer from a stern, angry young man (doctor) with principles to a lover boy and to finally a married man. This transformation was so beautifully portrayed by Karan, that you cannot resist complimenting the man's acting skills. The man who was full of anger, anger on the world, society, India, and this girl who spoilt his life, slowly evaporated. He, now, if not understands, ignores what is beyond control. This man who might not have smiled in over a decade now laughs his heart out. This man who probably hadn't seen any true happiness since he lost his father, found all in the last couple of days.
The last few episodes were phenomenal for Krishna too. A girl with dreams forcefully married to a man by no means equal to her, falling in love with the same man, almost fulfilling her dreams and losing the man she had fallen in love with, to tolerating the hatred from both ends: her in-laws and the man she accidentally ruined life of, to falling in love with the same man, to trying to ignore those feelings, to letting go and accepting, to finally being married. The journey for Krishna had been exceptional and Megha deserves all the appreciation for portraying this character to the T.
The whole marriage and the traditional welcoming of the bride were just simply amazing. I loved the tuning of Veer and Krishna. How they understand one another. And what performances. Only the best artist can perform and express through expressions only. And that is what happened today.
What I really loved was no exaggeration and useless added characters only for the wedding. Veer has always said that that there was no one for them, and I am glad no cousins or family showed up. I really enjoyed the only 3 people welcoming the bride and games. It was a family event and it remained as such. No extra unwanted persons. Just the family!
I loved those meaningful glances and the winks and the teasing. Both of them were glowing. They were happy after a long time. Krishna has accepted him with her whole heart. She loves him as she has never loved anyone before. When Veer enters the room holding Krishna, I loved how he nods with his head showing her the welcoming lights and the beautifully decorated room. Looking in her eyes when removing her bangles, the surprised smile she has when she sees her wedding gift, the Veer's weird smile saying Oh don't worry I can do it', and then his laugh when he realizes he couldn't without Krishna. The laugh said so much. The man who was offended that Krishna had come to his help and was praised now has accepted her help wholeheartedly.
I loved the comfort level Krishna has with Veer already. She was never that comfortable with Radhay. Roaming around the bedroom with only his shirt on, thanking God, the hug in the kitchen shows the amount of love she has for him. In the kitchen, Veer didn't want to let Krishna go, but neither did Krishna. It will be for this love that Krishna will return to Veer after the truth about Radhay will be revealed. All love stories go through trials, tests and hardships, and it is these hardships that strengthen the love. That what the revelation shall do.
Gaj was a silent and yet a very important character. A man of few words, a few actions and yet the only responsible person in the Shukla clan. He finally chose his side. The man who used to beat his wife every single day to falling in love and standing by his wife's side has now finally become strong enough to stand against his father. The scene and dialogues for Gaj were so powerful. Those few lines said it all. He would be standing for the right, against the wrong, even if it meant standing against his father. He finally decides a relationship between him and Krishna and that is not of a brother in law, but of a brother. For him, Krishna is not only Radhay's memory but also his little sister he wants to see happy. He understands that Radhay is no more, that Radhay too would have wanted Krishna's happiness and so Gaj stands. He gives her to the man he thinks is best for her.
That one hug from Krishna to Gaj was an assurance to Gaj that he not lost his brother but has, in fact, found a sister. To Krishna, it was an assurance that even Radhay would have wanted her happy.
That one hug from Veer to Gaj said so much. It was Veer finally accepting that not the entire Shukla clan was evil. It was Gaj, apologizing to Veer for everything evil done by his family.
I wish Lalia had a few dialogues. She deserved them. I wanted her to say something. Nevertheless, her hugging Krishna was just beautiful. It didn't have an explicit meaning. It was just happiness. Her smile and her reaction (the nazar utarna) was just her blessings and happiness. I hope to see more of Gaj and Lalia's interaction with the new couple.
The last two episodes were also the answers to the fears of a mother - Sunaina. She was scared, she knew something horrible would happen and it did. But this horrible event made her realize that she was bringing home a strong woman. A woman would stand tall against all difficulties, along with her son. This event washed away all her fears. She now was wholeheartedly accepting the new family member.
Those tiny moments after the marriage laid a foundation to a great relationship between the mother and the daughter in law. When Krishna gets upset because she loses the game, the mother asks Veer to go cheer her up. He picks his bride and the mother looks at them lovingly. She's glad her son is looking after her new daughter. I loved Naini's reaction at that point too, but we'll get to that in a minute. The hug that Sunaina gave to Krishna and the light slap that Veer received spelt a loving relationship between the two (Sunaina and Krishna). I have always believed (and my posts are proof) that Sunaina will become a mother to Krishna and not a mother in law. I look forward to this relationship. I think tomorrow when Krishna gets Veer out of jail, Sunaina's trust will increase multifold (If things go as I am assuming them to go). I feel that when the truth of the accident is revealed, the mother in law will play a pivotal role. She'll give the sense and support to a broken and confused daughter.
Naini didn't have much to do. So far she has been pretty sidelined but I hope her character gets more depth. She's a very honest young kid who loves her dadda and bhabi. She was so happy when her brother picked his wife. The smile, the clap - the true supporter of Veer and Krishna's love. Her interruption to the kitchen romance and teasing her bhabi was all a foundation to a lovely relationship. This bhabi-nand relationship will be one of a kind. Hopefully, two sisters supporting one another through thick and thin.
But this is not the end. There are still some soar relationships which shall probably get even worse.
What Shukla said to Gaj, perhaps hold some reality. Would that mean the new relationships that just came into being will become soar again? The failed jail plan of Shukla is not going to stop him from trying again and again till he succeeds. And he will. So would that mean, Shukla will try and create misunderstandings between Gaj and Veer? All this remains to be seen. But what we do know is that Shukla is not going to make it easy for anyone. With Bela using every opportunity to instigate Shuklain against Krishna and now Lalia, the new dimensions of the relationships in the Shukla clan remain to be seen and explored. Bela, will she finally win and take over the Shukla property she has eyeing since forever?
So far the show has been between the powerful and the weak. The Shuklas have the power and money, the Dubeys have neither. The show was about illiterate but powerful vs educated but powerless. The power always won. However, the game has changed now. From now, the show is about rich and powerful vs. rich and educated. And this time, education just might win, because when you're rich and educated, you can find sensible solutions against the powerful!
