I dont think D will dissapoint us like Kuruvi and ATM...those 2 were simply trash 🤢 ..sorry Vijays fans..no offence to u guys 😉

Maybe D wont live up to our expectations...but dont think it will be a big dissapointment....there is a difference between one who just copy his own films and one who ties to do something different 😉

Jenim, I actually heard the songs were good on screen compared to what you heard on audio/CD 😛

Meli -
You seem to have misunderstood my dig at Kuruvi/ATM. 😉

I know I wouldn't be disappointed with Dasav - for the sheer fact that this is what I've been looking forward to, since VV. And that a great Tamil actor has put in his best in terms of acting and extreme hardwork for the past couple of years. It CANT be that bad as some extreme reviews say.

That's why I suggested to go see this with an open mind, forgetting all the hullabaloo surrounding the movie.

My uncle had watched the movie and he said the efford put for the movie was 👏👏, the graphics for the last scenes were extremely good. Infact, he told me the first scene, in the sea...👏 well taken. And he acting as an old woman👏. Though they was no vadivel or vivek, most scenes were funny they said....

And Jenim, i too like the song Ulaga Nayagan, and everytime i listen to that song, i kept wondering how the dance scene would have been or how Asin wud have dance for it. But FIL told me it was KS.Ravi who dance for this song 😲. And i was suprised to know there was so duet song for both Asin and Kamal... this really suprised me naa😆

Finally, I managed to watch the movie yesterday and the high expectations for this movie did let me down!! Indiablogs similarly sums up my view abt the movie.. Mugunda and Ulaganayagan song is good compared to the others, however I think it would have been better if they showed the Ulaganayagan song at the start or somewhere in the middle than at the very end!!😉 Furthermore, the Tsunami scene could have been better..

Dasavathaaram Review - Breathtakingly Boring

Dasavatharam is the second dud in a row from Tamil film star Kamal Haasan.

If Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu (2006) was a bitter pill to swallow for Kamal Haasan's fans, Dasavatharam is a bigger disappointment because of the heightened expectations raised by the ten roles Kamal plays in this movie.

An incomprehensibly mediocre movie, it's a shame that Dasavatharam is the best that someone with 35+ years in the Tamil movie business can come up with.

A total mess of a story (it is a well structured story!!) is compounded by a mostly so-so performance by Kamal Haasan (except in some roles like the Indian intelligence officer Balram Naidu, Patti and Rangaraja Nambi) and below par music(overall, yes).

Since Kamal Haasan also takes credit for the story, screenplay and dialogs in Dasavatharam, it's only right that the major discredit for the movie should also accrue to this manga madaya (stupid fellow).

If the overall story - with the distracting side stories - is a jumbled mess, the dialogs are hopelessly banal. No life in them at all. Even a movie like Mozhi featuring a bunch of B-grade stars like Prakash Raj and Prithviraj had better dialogs.

Much of the movie centers around the efforts of a U.S.-based scientist Govind Ramasamy (Kamal Haasan's primary role in the movie) desperately trying to safeguard a deadly germ vial (containing a strain of the Ebola virus?) and prevent it from falling into the hands of a really nasty element called Christian Fletcher (Kamal Haasan again).

The fight to grab the deadly vial that starts in the U.S. ultimately ends in India after many boring detours (no, after some boring detours).

Some of the roles that Kamal plays in Dasavatharam like the activist Vincent Poovaraghan, George W.Bush, the singer Avtar Singh, the 7-ft tall Kalifulla Khan and the Japanese martial arts expert Shingen Narahashi were very poorly fleshed out. An example once again of the sloppy work by Kamal in the story department.

Makeup work for the many roles Kamal Haasan plays in Dasavatharam is a mixed bag. While the makeup was decent for the Indian RAW officer Balram Naidu, Rangaraja Nambi and Patti (grandma), it was sub-mediocre for some of the others, particularly Christian Fletcher and George Bush.

Mallika Sherawat's pole dance number in Dasavatharam is one of the crudest and most disgusting dances we've had the misfortune to ever see in a long life. Plain awful. Even the late Silk Smita used to do a better job in these voluptuous dance scenes.

None of the songs had any magic in them. Himesh Reshammiya's music failed to evoke much enthusiasm in the audience and several members of the audience at the Multiplex Cinemas in East Windsor (New Jersey) were walking out during the song/dance sequences. (Well, that didn't happen here in UK)

One of the few saving graces of Dasavatharam was Asin Thottumkal's performance. In her role as Andal, a conservative Brahmin girl from the temple town of Chidambaram as well as in an earlier brief appearance as Kothai, wife of a 12th century Vaisnavite devotee Rangaraja Nambi (Kamal Haasan), Asin brings some life to this dreary movie.

The other saving grace in Dasavatharam was the special effects, usually hopelessly crude in Tamil movies. Some of the Tsunami scenes as well as some of the action scenes were nicely done. (Improvement could have been made to the tsunami sequence!!😉)

Dasavatharaam reminds us of all the weird things crazy people do just to get noticed or make it to the Guiness Book - eating 500 burgers, standing upside down for two days, walking backwards for three weeks, dancing on a buffalo's back, fighting with a donkey or some other equally silly antic. Kamal Haasan tries a similar attention-grabbing gimmick - for the first time, 10 different roles in a movie. So what? It's still a lousy movie.

If a crappy fiasco like Dasavatharam is all that we can expect from Kamal Haasan after forking out $15 for a ticket, it's time this dinosaur of the Tamil movie industry moves on to less taxing pursuits, like aadu, maadu maikara vela (a cowherd, grazing goats and cows).

Although I'm not an arden fan of Kamal, I have so much respect for this man! I've always liked most of his movies. Since it contained 10 Avatars, I was really curious and went in to the theatre with sooooo much expectation - thanks to my cousin who convinced all of us to watch it! Sadly, the story wasn't that convincing at all. The moment they revealed all of the Avatar's I actually wanted to leave...but perhpas my expectations were high 😕!

I've heard mixed comments from my extended family. Those who went expecting a LOTTTTT, were disappointed a LOTTTT 😆

Those who had already read reviews which said that the film is average, didn't expect a lot and really ended up liking it. This goes to prove that Kamal's movies do well without the hype. For ex, Vasool Raja.

Yes, and it was really funny.😆 And the other half of the song was wasted on showing Kamal and his getups!! I though this song was going to be somewhere in the middle, so disappointed seeing it last. KSR's moves were the best thing abt that song!!😆
