SPB got his big break with Aayiram Nilave Vaa. TMS always sang for MGR but he became arrogant. (He still is, btw). He was very late to sing the song and MGR could not afford to wait for him anymore and they called SPB. That was it, the song became a hit and SPB was on his way to success. Prior to this he was always asking MGR and Kannadasan to give him a chance but they were on a winning streak with TMS and so they declined politely.

I love TMS's voice but the old man is so full of himself. We (Mum and I) saw an interview with him when he was here last year and we had to switch off the TV because he was so full of himself. Salikile!!
