Anuj Saxena, who plays Abhay in Kkusum, was injured in an accident on the sets of this Balaji soap at the Sankraman Studios, Goregaon, yesterday.
Saxena suffered a six-inch deep gnash on his right leg, just below his knee. Profusely bleeding, he was rushed to the Arogya Nidhi Hospital at Juhu by the Kkusum unit folks.
Speaking from his hospital bed despite the pain, Saxena said, "It happened post the lunch break. I had just shot for a scene along with Kkusum. As there were a lot of fans from London present at the shoot there was a request to pose for pictures. I had barely moved in their direction that I found myself tripping over the several electric poles that were lying around. The next thing I knew was that I was in agony and there was blood all over."
To Saxena's quick rescue came Pratim Parekh (Kapil chachu in the soap), Saket Sawhney (executive producer) and Jasbir (chief assistant director).
"They just picked me up and drove me to the hospital," says Saxena who received about 20 stitches for the gnash. "Pratim even tied a cloth around my leg to stop the bleeding," adds Saxena.
Manasi Joshi Roy, who plays Kkusum, was also present at the shoot. The scenes being shot for this Sony soap included the court scenes with Abhay and Kkusum in which they were being probed for Mahi's accidental death.
Incidentally, Saxena is a doctor-turned-actor and his self-diagnosis is that he will be out of action for a couple of days. "I think it will take me at least three days to get back to my various shoots."
Saxena also features as Karan Singh in Saara Akash on Star Plus and as Amol in the afternoon soap Prratima on Sahara. He will also be seen in Sameer Malkan's Hindi film Lips.
