The 'K' merger

Ekta Kapoor's Kavyanjali and Kahani Ghar Ghar Ki are coming together for a one-hour special

Subhash K Jha

Ekta Kapoor's most recent brainwave involves bringing together the characters from two of her favourite soaps on Star Plus-Kavyanjali and Kahani Ghar Ghar Ki — on June 19. The special episode will feature the entire cast of the two soaps and will also have guest appearances by actors like Shweta Tiwari, Aamna Sharif and Sai Deodhar, who play no part in either of the serials.

"We've brought the two soaps together once before," says Ekta Kapoor. "It will be called 'One Episode Two Dramas'. In the first drama Parvati from Kahani Ghar Ghar Ki (KGGK) will discover her husband Om's killer through Kayva (from Kavyanjali). The other drama will have Parvati bringing Anjali (from Kavyanjali) face to face with Kavya's look-alike. It's a very carefully crafted episode."

Sandeep Sikand the creative head of both the soaps is working overtime to ensure this fusion episode goes off without any confusion. "Characters from both Kavyanjali and KGGK have to look as though they know each other and are aware of the problems in one another's life," says Sandeep. "We are working towards merging the two soaps have effortlessly."

Top of the pops

Manish Goel:Being the only son my dad has given me lots of gifts. But the best was when he let me pursue my dreams of becoming an actor. He let me move to Mumbai, even though we have our family business in Delhi. It was a special moment for both my dad and me when I turned a father.

Today my world revolves around my son Arya. I am writing a diary for him. I plan to give him 15 such diaries by the time he reaches the age of 15. It includes daily tidbits like, 'Today we attended your first PTA meeting', sacrifices made by his mother (Poonam Narula) and advices.

Vikas Bhalla: The most special moments that I spent with my father was when I was 7-years-old. We had just shifted from Delhi to Mumbai. My dad's bedroom window offers a sea-view. I would lie on my dad's tummy and ask him to show me the sea. The best gift my dad has given me is letting me choose my own career.

😃Anita Hasanandani: I lost my father seven years back. That was one of the biggest shocks of my life. My father used to pamper me a lot.

My mother was very strict. But every time she'd shout at me my father would get upset with her. While in school I had saved my pocket money and bought my father a wallet. He was very happy. He used it till it could no longer be used.

Iqbal Khan: My father always gave me everything that I asked for. But he also made me work hard for it. He believes in giving that little extra to everything in life and he has instilled this quality in me too. I plan to gift my father a car soon. I speak to him every morning in Srinagar, where he lives.

Rakshanda Khan: As a child I remember my father teaching me math. I was terrible at it. My father was a genius in the subject. He had amazing patience and even if I asked him a question 100 times, he would answer it calmly. He never loses his cool.

I wish I had this quality too. Dad is not much of a gifts person. I had bought him a watch 10 years back and he still uses it. He loves chocolates though and I get loads of them whenever I go abroad.

Tina Parekh: When I was a child my father would bathe me and dress me for school. He had two huge mugs filled with milk which he would keep side by side. He would drink from one and make me drink from the other. I was not supposed to leave a single drop behind. All that my father wants is that his children should be good human beings.

What our Indian Television stars have to say about, Daddy Dearest
Hiten Tejwani says, "I have never really celebrated Father's Day in my childhood. My father was very strict where studies were concerned. He would make me sit and do my homework every evening. But I used to respect him a lot. Every year I buy my father lots of gifts such as shirts, pens etc and he cherishes even the smallest thing that I have brought for him. I have not planned anything special for this Father's Day. I will decide it at the spur of the moment and make the day special. My favourite onscreen father is none other that Mr. Amitabh Bachchan."

Anita finds Eijaz sexy

Not too long ago Eijaz Khan went public with his confession about his love for co-star,
Anita Hasanandani. The latest is that even Anita finds him hot but insists that they are just friends. On being asked whether she was upset with him for declaring his love for her, the actor says that the issue was blown out of proportion. She added, "He must have said he is fond of me. As a friend, even I am fond of him. We are comfortable working together and there is no awkwardness." Ask her who her favourite co-star is and pat comes the reply, "Eijaz." Ditto on being asked who she thinks is the sexiest guy on TV. Well, that's what 'good friends' are for!

Anita Hassandani

First Impression: I remember sitting on front of the TV 24x7 waiting for my ad to air. It felt awesome the first time I saw it, and even asked my entire family to watch it.

Me on TV: It was six years back. I had done an ad for Sunsilk hair oil that was aired on DD2.

Iqbal Khan

First Impression: It was during my school days for some MTV show. They were talking to some girls and asking them who is the nicest boy around, and everyone pointed at me. I thought it was damn sweet of them to do that.

Me on TV: I think everyone I knew saw it before I did.

Delnaz and Rajev Paul

An anniversary to remember

Actor Rajev Paul gives his wife Delnaz a surprise party on their tenth wedding anniversary

Ram Kamal Mukherjee

When you truly someone the best thing to do is to express it. And television actor Rajev Paul has done just that. He recently threw a surprise party to his wife and actress Delnaz Paul for their 10th wedding anniversary. "It came as a pleasant surprise for me. I know my husband loves me a lot, but I didn't expected such a beautiful gesture," says Delnaz. Rajev had organised a surprise party at Club Link in Andheri.

"I got call from Club Link for a sea-food festival and they wanted me and Rajev to attend it. When I asked Rajev, he didn't seem interested and hence, nor was I. But they kept calling me to confirm and finally I had to agree. I also convinced Rajev to come with me," she says.

When Delnaz arrived at the venue, she found that the place was dark and Rajev had disappeared. "Soon he arrived with a bouquet of ten roses. I realised he wanted to surprise me and I was really happy. But that wasn't all. Rajev had decorated the place with red and white balloons, and then he organised the screening of a short film. I had tears in my eyes I saw the effort he had taken. I felt guilty as I had doubted his intentions when he used to come home late and then talk on the phone in a different room. Rajev would never lie, but for last two months he wasn't talking to me properly. I started suspecting him yet I knew that if anything was really wrong he would tell me," she says.

The couple had Rajev's made-to-order cake and celebrated over champagne. "Rajev's such a romantic. He had kept a diamond ring at the bottom of the glass. I thought that all the surprises are finally over. But then he took me to a separate room, where he had arranged for a lovely candle-light dinner. It was just the two of us, and he had ordered sea food from my favourite Mahesh Lunch Home. I shall always remember this gesture," she says.
