Part IX
"Hope" and "Conscience".These are not mere words, they are the realities to the survival of the human race. As these words kept ringing in his mind, Kavya felt he was in a landslide. He was falling, he was falling in his eyes and no one could rescue him.
He always nurtured that secret hope, one that he had hidden even from himself. The hope that Anjali would be by his side and love him and only him till the end of time. But would his conscience allow him to abandon an unborn child, yet again? Despite everything, all that Pammi did, she was carrying his child. Would his conscience allow him to tread the same path again? Children are so very precious, so untouched by all the hatred, all the guilt. Should he put another child through-?
Kavya Nanda, was indecisive as ever, but so human. Humans think too often with their hearts, seldom with their mind. Your heart always loves like there is not going to be a tomorrow and hangs onto pain like it will never end. No, Kavya could never bring himself down the same road again. He hated Pammi, Forget being her husband or her friend he could not imagine how he could even pretend acquaintance with the woman. Pammi, how much I hate you he thought, but yet, you will bear my child. If this child was born, he would be bonded to Pammi for life. He could not stand that. He wanted for her to go away, forever. And then again, now that he knew what it meant to be a father,he could not shy away from the truth. He had to honor this child. He could not make the same mistake again. But why hadn't Kavya thought like this when Anjali was pregnant.
Anyway, what humans do, how they react and how they decide can never be deciphered by logic. People are just that, people. On reaching home, Kavya asked all of his family to listen very carefully to what he had to say. Especially his so called "wife" and "mother". The family knew only so much and had tried to make up for what they didn't. As they heard all that they should know they were in disbelief, some that the truth was out, and others for the unforgiving deceit. Kavya looked at Nitya Nanda, thanked her for her time with the faimly and asked her to leave. He had made arrangements for her money and so called comforts. She would pack up an leave RIGHT NOW!
To Pammi the man simply said "I want a divorce."
