@Aditi and Ria
Exactly, i'm worried this may cause a rift in their relationship. Although it has once...is it good to be repeating similar tracks? And Ria...yeah that conversation with Paddy seemed to exude more compliance on DK's part. I'm still not willing to believe that he is completely changed...something's fishy.
Or maybe the actor just faltered...but i'm not willing to believe that.
@Natz
I don't agree. HP has been Arohi's ma and baba. So it is most mothers who would ask their daughters a question like this, but HP's always acted as the father and mother. I would assume that he's accepted the role so well during all these years that now he feels obligated to be asking a question like this. When did Arohi's mom die? Cuz I wouldn't be surprised if it was HP who helped Arohi deal with her menstrual cycle beginning. :p
It's an annoying question...but I think it very aptly showed HP's state of mind.
@Manisha
" so i wudnt blame HP for his misconceptions.. its just not the right time 4 him.. he is in extreme anger, his pride has hurt, his convictions r questioned, his trust is broken, he is facing an ugly truth and he is a human afterall n humans can falter at times"
And this is why I understand HP a little. The situation in which he realized Arjun and Arohi's trust was far beyond his control. He saw his daughter giving her all via vows to, defenitely, the only man he despises. So, HP was bound to develop extreme anger. And once anger kicks in....rationalizing is impossible. It made a man who so staunchly believes in humanity reject it in every form Arjun presents it. It was really disheartening, but understandable.
But for him to blame and ridicule his parents was uncalled for. He's such a hyprocrite. On one side he expects utmost respect from Arohi, but on the other hand he feels the need to ridicule another's parents.
"According to the Hebrew Bible (Judaism): "He that is slow to wrath is of great understanding, but he that is hasty of temper[A. V. "spirit"] exalteth folly...A wrathful man stirrers up strife: he that is slow to anger appeases strife...He that is slow to anger is better than the mighty...Be not hasty in thy spirit to be angry; for anger rests in the bosom of fools." " (Wikipedia the Great) lol
Hence, HP is a FOOL!

😆 i didnt think of that! its more likely... 😆 though me believe once HP cools down.. things wud definitely improve for AP... unless AP becomes desperate n does something foolish! its time for some quick action from BM!

hmm, for answers AP turns 2 DK n for support he turns to BM.. so we might c BM today in action...

--now its interesting that he supported one of AP's parent n criticized the other... 😆... now any body wud want 2 hurt the other where it hits the hardest n he did the same thing though it wasnt deliberate...HP's only problem is the "broken" family..DK's questionable upbringing.. obviously he doesnt realize how much AP has changed... and interestingly DK did the same thing actually..i dont remember the exact dialogues but i think DK questioned HP's sanskar n parvarish in that "Aro in minidress" sequence i think...

@buddies:

me thinks AP shud have taken BM with him... there u c .. he lacks the right tactics.. KS ko dekho always spot on he knows how n whom to talk to.."bua" was perfect channel for him... AP thodi akal ladate.. BM ko bhi saath leke jaate.. then u wud have scored at least some point.. n HP wud have realized that he is BM's son too!

@Manisha: This is what even I had mentioned in my post.....If AP had taken BM alongwith him then HP would atleast get out of that MU that AP still hates BM....Kuch MU kam to ho jaata...Aur rahi baat KS ki, toh it's always seen that woman are more cordial & they are the best ones who can convince others/the right person whom you want to be convinced(here HP)....KS took hold of Bua & by his goody-goody talks he made a place for himself in her heart & he knew that the next step would be immediately be taken by her....Usko kuch karne ki koi zarurat nahi hai...Here is where AP falters...He thought of directly approaching HP but he forgot that to convince HP the route should be via Bua....

When I first watched this episode, I immediately wrote a post that was gaaliyon se bharpoor [err.. chalk full with profanities]. After some time and distance, and another watch, I am beginning to see straight again. So let me try again.

HP & his Ego Trip

The entire episode was one huge ego trip for Hari Prasad. And I thought DK had a bad case of faulty pride. Apparently, the two are soul brothers.

"Meri woh beti jo mujhse kabhi aankh milaa kar ke baat nahin kar sakti thi... " Question: Is that a good thing? That your child can't look you in the eyes? Or just another cultural dichotomy. Well, the implications of this line bother me.

"...woh aaj mujhse khule aam keh rahi hai ke voh Arjun Punj se pyaar karti hai." What is bothering him more? His hatred for Arjun Punj, or his ego that his daughter is openly rejecting his views? I suggest it's the latter. Fathers in particular hate that ' more so the older they get.

6th Grade story? Main sar pakad ke baith gayi. Such colourful gaaliyan were flowing out of my mouth. Heartfelt gaaliyan. Beautiful gaaliyan. How does a 6th grade answer paper compare to choosing a life partner?? Hey bhagwaan! She is not in 6th grade anymore, and Arjun is not a pop quiz. In all seriousness, it's the same issue again: I am the father and I know best. I always have and I always will. End of argument.

The entire sequence with Arjun was pure stubbornness. I saw nothing else. Trust me, I tried. Anyways, you get my point. Truth is, HP was in no state of mind to listen to anybody. Arjun or Arohi. And believe either of them? Absolutely not.

Anyways, gaaliyon ka bhauchaar onto HP for Arohi. Double it up for Arjun. More gaaliyan, saale ke sar pe maaro.

Mommy

"Tera sapna? Yeh thha tera sapna? Yeh ladka?" asks HP. Arohi did not answer. Allow me. Yes, he is her sapna. Now lets refer to mommy dearest..."what use is a sapna if you don't have anyone to share it with?" I miss her mommy.

Arohi has never opposed her father openly, but she has certainly influenced him to change his mind behind the scenes. But Arohi is in the hot-seat today, so there's no one to cool the man down. And I really don't trust her sisters to come through for her. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if they stayed ignorant about the whole affair. [Perfect, isn't it?] These really are the times that you miss having your mother.

Meetu Bua

Speaking of mothers - I see hope in Meetu Bua. [The wonders of watching the episode again after cooling down.] While she stayed shaant throughout the episode, she was absorbing everything around her - including Arohi & Arjun's pyaar. In fact, she seemed to be the only one who was actually listening. But then again, MB is the one who told HP "Arohi ki haan chalegi ya tumhaari?" [One of the most ridiculous lines in the entire serial.] So let's see what role she actually plays going forward, if any.

Arjun

It takes real guts to do what he did. The honesty. The self-control. And the vulnerability. Arjun was touching and perfect. Nothing less than perfect. Yes, my heart also bled for Arjun, but overall I wasn't sad, but proud of Arjun.

Arohi

Arohi's actions have also been intriguing. When HP slaps Arjun, you can't tell which one got hit - as though Arohi felt the slap on her own face. Similarly, every hurtful word towards Arjun today seems to pain Arohi - including the hurtful words about his father, DK.

When Arohi walks away from the scene, she is clearly so hurt that she can't take anymore. She cannot bear to watch the man she loves the most in this world being hurt by the man she respects the most in this world. She was overwhelmed. Tomorrow will tell whether Arohi becomes a damsel-in-distress, or whether she owns up to her commitments, and her life. Whether to admire her or pity her. These are the moments that develop character. In real life as well as reel life.

So do you think she can do it? Ek dil [Arjun] ki liye apni duniya [family] de sakti hai?

Gup shup...

1. HP (Virendra Saxena, is it?) did a fabulous job depicting pure anger. I really hated him completely and thoroughly. Job well done. But please, can you shout a little less?

2. Arjun talking directly to HP hurt. It hurt that HP trivialized every event that touched our hearts (including the 'Ek Pal' moment), but Arohi crying listening to all this made it tolerable. It was a dual moment (hate + love).

3. Arjun defending his dad to HP - I am surprised at how touched I was by this.

4. Btw, I don't think DK is hatching a plan. I think he is concerned and annoyed about the HP issue.

5. 'Aadmi ki fidrat nahin badalti.' Excellent point by HP. Arjun is, and always ways, a very loving man. That's what Arohi fell in love in the first place. Interesting. Very interesting.

6. DK has accepted Arohi already? That was phenomenal news for HP, na? Ridiculously good. Salt on HP's wounds. Even DK knew about A-A before him. Wonderful, man. Wonderful. Loved it.

7. Oh, and I do not want a Raj-Simran DDLJ train sequence moment. Really I don't. Something else. Something different. Please. But I'll live with whatever as long as its entertaining.

8. Haan par mujhe bhaagam bhaag shaadis bahut pasand hai. Would love to watch this. But I'm afraid my friends will get offended if A-A don't kiss up to Kaala Bandar first. Please.

9. Oh..how could I forget? Did HP actually ask Arohi if she...u know what I mean ...with Arjun? That "tu theek to hai?" was a bit of a shocker for me. Did I interpret it correct? Did that really happen??! (I'm gonna be sick to my stomach man...)

Chalo ... later...T.

@Tulli: I was munching on some home made cookies as i read your post and no doubt they tasted way much better than they did the last time i ate them😃
Well that is an interesting question that you placed..Arjun did give up his zindagi (Arohi) for ek pal (of her life...her happiness)...now its her turn...her father has gone against her love and this puts her in a position to choose...Your Point 8 contradicts to this! 😆 If your friends have to be happy than they need HPs consent....but than is there a safer way? Is it time for her love to get drilled? Is it time for her to proove Ek dil ki liye dunia....you have put me on a different road altogethor...and as I go forward I feel lost and uncertain as to what will Arohi do now?
I am in love with your 6th Gup Shup!!!...
Great Post!!!!

@Tulli: Your post actually made me think over again on Arohi's 'Dil ke liye Duniya de di' line....I just hope that she does it....Otherwise the whole 7 months of story-telling will go in drains...Your 5th point of gup shup was indeed very correct & this needs to be told to HP over & over again....

Okay so I think I'll be able to express my opinions by responding to people, which I haven't done in a while.
@Ria
"What I appreciate is the fact that Arjun did it with utmost dignity...he did concede himself to HP but did not let his self-esteem to be tampered by him"
👏 Didn't think of that. But very true. Arjun was soft spoken yet his strength lied in that soft spoken, respectful attitude.
"Her turning back and going inside the room symbolizes her helplessness"
I know Arohi will never give up, but it is this helplessness that I didn't want to see. Your idea of bura waqt before acha waqt is well thought of but shouldn't the bura waqt compel Arohi to fight? Shouldn't she stand tall in front of all obstacles and ensure that the bura waqt fast becomes acha waqt? Maybe Arohi will stand up for her love later, but her helplessness did not evoke any sympathies from me. When Arjun was helpless, it was understandable, but here Arohi's helplessness is dissappointnig, especially because we know she is strong, both mentally and physically lol.
And I don't think Close-up ka Namoona is a powerful character in all this. He is too late an entry to be of significance. It's either Bua who seemed sympathetic throughout or DK/Savita, in my opinion. They've got the long history with HP and they're all old enough to demand respect from HP.
And #1...it's gonna be interesting for sure.
@Anu
Ok this very well portrays how strong of a character Arohi is👍🏼. She has always stood up to the things she felt right and I hope she does the same with her love too😍😍 .
Exactly how I feel!
And agreed...that line from Arohi sounded so heavenly..maine kuch galat nahi kiya..and ek pal was picturized perfectly.
yeh mera sacha pyar hi tho hai, ki aaj arohi ko bhi sachayi ka patha chel gaya"
I dunno why....but I didn't like that dialogue. I think it was the way Karan said it, cuz it sounds perfect when you wrote it.
I feel the guy couldnt say a word more that this to convice HP.
Exactly! Yet it seems more convincing is in store for us. It's such a dissappointment that HP can't see love in Arjun's demeanor. HP, for the most part, was as angry as most people are when they find their self-respect being tainted. Why didn't Arjun react the same way when HP was ridiculing him? Hello honey...cuz ur his girl's dad....realize that and let him be!
And in this scene Karan's acting stood out especially because VS was great with the anger.
She was so ready to face death for the guy, today she couldnt face her Dad's wrath?.
What a pity...😭
@Anjana
She is a grown woman with a heart and mind of her own. He needs to respect that. He needs to reason with her and for that he must listen not make condescending judgments.
Exactly! He claims that he felt she was the ideal daughter. But clearly...NO..because not once did he ask why the ideal daughter trusted this not-so-ideal man (acc to him). There must be a reason for her faith in him. And of course he never thought she was ideal...the first question he asked was whether she has been intimate with hi. Why not ask 'beta what led you to trust him.' Nope...case cleared...if she was the ideal daughter in his mind, he would've seen reason in her actions and not irrationally have blown up like he did.
So, she tells him - I reached the threshold of how hurt and humilated I could see you and did what i had to do to stop it. Maybe by turning away Arohi was doing the same - she did not want Arjun to further humble himself.
Sounds beautiful. But the way Arohi walks away seems more the attitude of a defeated, helpless person than someone who is acting to protect her love. Also, every moment is precious. A little strength in Arohi's eyes and maybe Arjun could've pulled a few more dialogues to impress HP...pyaar kiya to darna kya rite...why be embarassed in a fight for love?
Hunger strike, jaandas, and silent protest. We know that they love each, but can they prove it? Hmmm...I can't wait to see this. Go KMH
It does sound exciting, but after hunger strikes, jandas, silent protests require an agression, a power which was not visible in either Arjun or Arohi today.
@Sanju
I love your madness speaking. I thought I'd imitate your style for today, but clearly decided otherwise...thought tooooooo much madness speaking may spread too much madness at the adda. lol.
arjun..as for you..i have no words...buddy you have sufferred and redeemed too much now.....its their turn now....let them do it..aur kitna karega tu yaar !!
Exactly! I felt like this when cuz of Meetu Bua Arjun had to leave the apartment. And now again...I feel like Arjun's done enough...I hated seeing Arohi just standing there and not reacting in any way. She's not a doll nor is she the typical BT heroine. She holds her own...she's so strong...just can't see her faltering like this for a man so special.
@natz
I responded to the point I disagreed with already. But honestly I don't understand why KMH's trps are low. After seeing the TRPs today, I was like i'm not going to concern myself with such silliness. And for me as well, the slightest of 'happenings' in this show touch my heart, force me to cry. I don't understand why people can't feel the emotions. Anyways, I know I love the show...Arjun and Arohi are very close to my heart...and that's all that matters.
@Minnie
*I'll edit later. I'm having the same feeling as I do when I pull all-nighters. It's like from ur epiglottis to the last sphincter in ur stomach, the interior walls of the digestive tract are collapsing, and that seems to create this throbbing pain in ur head due to which u can't think properly and so need to sleep. (geeky...i know. :p) I'm not lying...I shall update in the morning.*
@Minnie
"And here lies the sharp contrast between the two fathers. HP I felt, somehow still doubts his teachings he's given his daughter and wants to hold the bicycle even though she's ready to take on the world by herself. "
And you know whats funny...the fathers have seemed to swtich roles. It always seemed to be HP that trusted his upbringing, while DK was always over-protective. Time changes everything.
"but there is a time, place and a proper etiquette of bringing the truth forward.. This should have been told to HP by someone else, not Punji"
You know Minnie that was my initial reaction as well. I found it quite awkward that he was telling HP all this. It not only would have seemed appropriate but would have been effective if someone else had handled the proceedings. Although, I gotta say...I don't mind Arjun having come cuz Karan's acting was mindblowing!
"I think Arohi Sharma is a little at fault here.. she cribbed about Arjun's irrational behavior but never told HP how he had begun to reform. The man (HP) has had no interaction with this person other than through his daughter mostly. "
Very true! But if HP was willing enough to believe his negative aspects, then why is he not as willing to believe the same daughter when she claims she trusts him? Both times they were claims...why were cribbing claims more believable/? I realize a lot has happened in between, but I would think that's a natural fault in humans...we tend to believe the negative in a person far quicker than their positive.
@An
I generally hate complimenting one lead over the other. I want to appreciate both their 'acting' skills equally...call it being cautionary after experiencing the KYPH forum. LOL. Anyways, so I try to refrain from complimenting the actors when one does better than the other. But today I simply can't hold back my feelings...from the second that scene began I was in total awe with the way Karan acted. The softness being so real and acting as Arjun's strength. At no minute did HP's shouting overpower Karan's softness....in fact the shouting simply highlighted how soft-spoken and respectful Arjun was. I don't think anyone can come out of that scene not loving Arjun...the scene was a super success! And Arjun's last tear at the end...simply heart-breaking! He's molding into a fine actor!
@Sheetal
"As a woman, I would never let anyone insult my husband be it that person is my father or anyone else"
As a woman, would you ever insult your father? I feel dissappointed that Arohi didn't take immediate action, but the situation she's in is very complicated.
And the point you bring up about the musical instruments is very interesting. Like you said his music is everything to him...for him to completely reject his life because it's being returned by a man he doesn't trust proves that either he really doesn't value music or his anger is totally irrational and has totally occupied his thinking abilities.
"He made me cry…..My mom was trying to console but everything was in vain because I am sooo attached to this character that I am helpless……My friends feel that I am mad "
Oh man! Hope you're better now! It's just astonishing and scary how attached we become to reel life characters!
@Tulli
"

"Meri woh beti jo mujhse kabhi aankh milaa kar ke baat nahin kar sakti thi... " Question: Is that a good thing? That your child can't look you in the eyes? Or just another cultural dichotomy. Well, the implications of this line bother me. "

Exactly! To me it sounds like the father and daughter were never at the same level and not able to communicate. Why is it that ankhen nahin milana has 2 meanings in INdian cinema...either u respect ur elders or ur hiding something? They need to concur on one meaning. :p I would support the second one...if ur genuine, you can look ppl in the eye and speak confidently.
I actually liekd the 6th grade story. It brought a little more realism to HP's unrealistic rant.
"5. 'Aadmi ki fidrat nahin badalti.' Excellent point by HP. Arjun is, and always ways, a very loving man. That's what Arohi fell in love in the first place. Interesting. Very interesting. "
I ABSOLOUTELY LOVE this point! Koi jaake HP ko abhi bataooo! Shish man!
YAY! I responded!😃 I'm very proud of myself right now!😆
