"I am not interested...have a peaceful night" Arjun left without waiting for her response. LOL! 😆 The old Arjun might have been interested but this one isn't! All he now cares about is his son's happiness!

Chapter 21

Arohi stretched as the first ray of sunshine touched her lovely face. Another beautiful day has dawned. She looked at the angelic face of Aayan sleeping next to her. His small body cuddled up to her side seeking love and warmth. A sensation of pride and glory swelled in her heart. He was her little man. She touched his soft face and kissed him gently. He was an exact replica of his dad, but only in looks . She would never let him become an arrogant despot like him. Five days have passed and Arjun had been literally avoiding her since that night they had arrived at the villa. She had briefly seen him last night during dinner but he had left in a hurry on the pretext of attending a phone call. Liar!!! She had no idea what hurt her more his presence or his absence. She should have been happy but she wasn't, his quietness was killing her. Although he deliberately avoided much contact or conversation with her but he had insisted on doing everything for Aayan ; despite of having no experience she had to admit that he had done it perfectly. Much to her surprise he turned out to be one of those hands on natural father, who knew exactly how to deal with a two-year-old little boy. Initially to irritate him and to prove him incapable she had taken a back seat but now looking at his extraordinary competence she was regretting every moment of it. She was hardly getting any moment with her son. Her unrealistic hope about Arjun's being an incompetent father crumbled into absolute ashes, She felt like an absolute fool. But for some unknown reason it also made her happy and contended. The feeling that she hadn't chosen the wrong man as the father for her child came to her more as a relief than disgust. After all he was the man who had given her the proud glory of motherhood; the feeling that changes the dymanic of a woman's life. She sighed at her own jumbled up emotions.

A soft knock at the door brought her back to reality. It was Anna. She had been ever so happy since she had seen Arohi back to the villa.

"Madam you want pressing clothes" she asked in a hushed broken English.

"Thanks'..that is a great idea'.come in" Arohi went to look into her wadrobe. She had packed in such a hurry and she was really struggling for clothes. It was sweet Anna who was keeping her washing and ironing upto-date. She desperately needed a shopping expedition but she had nobody to go shopping with. "Ask Arjun" a little inner voice ticked her but she quickly brushed the idea.

"Baby asleep'...so like master" Ana's eyes filled with tears as she hugged Arohi " for three years we wait for your return. Master so lonely, unhappy after you left. Locked in room, no friend, no visitor'...crying all time. Now you back with his son'...everything fine'...he is happy'...don't leave him again"

Arohi didn't know what to say to the poor lady. Ana was looking at her with so much expectation and hope that she didn't had the heart to disillusion her. She smiled and hugged back saying softly. "I won't".

"Anna can you please sit with Aayan while I have my shower"she quickly changed the topic to avoid any more awkward request or question.

"Of course madam" Anna obliged happily.

Anna's word " master so lonely, so unhappy after you left" kept on ringing in her ears as the cool sprinkle of water touched her body. So Arjun had been very sad and had missed her after she had gone. If he was that sad he should have come after her to look for her, to pacify her. But he never did. Okay she had left him saying that she didn't love him and he was much older and she regretted their intimacy but he could still have come to look for her. But she was the one who had left him the day after their engagement blaming him for rushing things on her. "Oh My God '.what is happening to me ..I am defending Arjun Singhania" Arohi turned the shower off in agitation. She could hear Aayan's giggles. Her little man was up. As she hurried to put her clothes Aayan's giggles became louder and louder followed by a soft laughter that she could recognise anywhere in the world. It was Arjun's. So the perfect father was already there. She made a face at imaginary Arjun. But what is the point'..it was her own foolishness. She should have known that Arjun can be perfect at everything he sets his mind on and with Aayan it was definitely his heart. She had seen the way he looks at his son. it is full of genuine love and happiness. A smile touched her lips but suddenly it changed into sadness as Gauri and her unborn child's picture came to her mind. She chided herself for getting carried away with emotions. Anna was after all Arjun's employee. She would always side with him, And anyways servants in every country have the propensity of making things up. Most probably Arjun had feigned sadness to make her look like the guilty party and he being the forsaken beloved. For a moment she thought Arjun was really sad after she had gone and the cold shower had refreshed her mind. She had been right. Arjun was only doing all this to Aayan because he has no other option. If he had known about Aayan before his birth he would have exactly done the same with her as well'...force her to abort her child. Her whole body stiffened with grief and heart cried out for poor Gauri. What a price to pay for loving the wrong man. But somehow deep down her heart she knew that Anna was not the lying kind. She still remembered the hurtful look in his eyes. She had never felt this disoriented before, one moment she was accusing him of being the reckless jerk the next moment her mind was thinking of man steeped in despair that night.

When she came out of her shower both Arjun and Aayan were missing. As she came downstairs to have her breakfast sounds of muffled laughter and a loud screech drew her attention to the living room. A bouquet of mixed emotion'..pain. isolation and jealousy stabbed through Arohi's heart as she saw Arjun lying on the floor bouncing a giggling Aayan in the air and then nozzling on his tummy as he came down. The little boy's face beamed and he squealed "phil se" everytime Arjun said something to him in Greek. They seem to share a level of comfort and attachment where not even Arohi was allowed. She felt like the mother bird whose baby was just about to fly'.all apprehensive yet knowing very well once it flies it will never come back to her nest. She has always dreaded this''.but after all he was Aayan 's father'..She just couldn't understand her own feeling any more. Obviously she can't be jealous of her own son. Or was it she herself was craving for Arjun's attention and was feeling insecure'..

As she turned believing she hasn't been noticed "Arohi darling''are you not joining ''" a female voice halted her step.

She looked around and her face lt up " Gloria aunty'..she screamed in genuine happiness'..

Gloria aunty was Arjun's mom's sister. Three years back Arohi had met her during their engagement but her warm nature, her motherly affection had developed an instant liking. Knowing how close knitted Greek families are she was dreading visitors fairly soon but Gloria's aunty's soft welcoming voice cheered her morose self'...'after all someone was inviting her to join the fun and not be on her own''

"Hi Aunty'.how are you '...nobody has cared to inform me about your arrival'. " Arohi pouted looking at Arjun. But he just continued to play with Aayan without paying any attention to her remarks.

"Don't worry sweetheart'...I told them not to'...as I wanted to surprise you" the elderly lady said in a soft voice. " And the little lad is such a delight'...so much like his father'...I can't tell you how happy I am for both of you"

Arohi felt a lump riding in her throat after seeing the sincere happiness in the lady's eyes. Arjun had told her during their engagement that after his mother's death it was Gloria Aunty who had given motherly affection to him. Till his dad had remarried Arjun had stayed with her and that's why they had always shared a special bond even after all these years. He had always longed to come back to Greece to see her as after her husband death she had decided not to leave Crete.

Hugging her tight she whispered " Welcome home dear..'...Agatha will be so pleased to see you back".

The mention of Arjun's mother Agatha made Arohi instantly look at him. This time he failed to retain his indifference. His eyes probed deep into Arohi's as if seeking confirmation of the fact that weather or not this time she will be able to please his mother's aspiration of seeing her son settled and happy. Arohi had no idea how to react to his gaze. She quickly looked away not only from him but also from her own torn emotions.

"Master la enai toima gia to pik-nik(everything is ready for the picnic) Anna' words forced everyone to look at her. Although Arohi couldn't understand the meaning but the word "pik-nik" sounded familiar. A big smile appeared on Gloria Aunty's face and she clapped her hands like a little girl "Picnic'I love it" " I know it sweets'and that's why I have planned it all last night to take you for a picnic with my son'..remember the time you used to take me " Arjun said kissing Aunty's pink cheeks. Arohi's eyes moistened as she saw the loving lady cupping Arjun's face with love " I remember it all darling'..I wouldn't have ever let you go if it was within my power "Common everyone'..lets get going" Arjun held Aayan's hand and walk passed Arohi without a single word. Even Anna and Spiros were excited as well. She felt like crying. Arjun had planned a picnic for everyone but haven't even mention it to her. How would he !! He had been so busy avoiding her .So much for his idea of providing Aayan a happy family; she was hardly included in any of it.

"Arohi '.common dear get into the car'" it was Gloria Aunty who invited her at last.

Before she could say anything Arjun drawled mockingly "common Arohi ..get in'...what are you waiting for'...now don't tell me you need a formal invitation to go out for a picnic with your would-be husband and son."

"Of course not" she felt like hitting him for being such an arrogant jerk. He exactly knew what she was thinking...'Oh God...this man knew her way too well''..
