CHAPTER 9
Everyone was standing near the departure section in the airport. Preet was looking here and there in search of someone. Everyone was there, gifted him a lot of gifts also but where was she? 'Please come soon Kittu', Preet said to himself. He had asked her parents for at least 10 times in past 40 mintues that where was she. But Balraaj and Teji also did not know where she was. She was missing from this morning. She left Preet's place before anyone woke up and Preet searched everywhere for her but she was nowhere. Preet was getting tensed with passing time.
Meher was there, there in her house only. She knew Preet would go to find her to every possible place she could be where she always used to hide whenever she felt upset so she decided to be in the house. She was at the store room. She was allergic to dust since childhood so she never liked to go to that place but today she did. She had no way out. She was crying sitting there. She knew she loved him somehow. But this much? She never understood. She got to know the depth of her love that day. She slowly looked at her wrist watch, she found that it was only half an hour left for Preet to check in. 'They must be at the airport by now, I should also start off for the airport. After all, I can't let him go without meeting him for one last time', she tought to herself and smiled a bit with pain. She wiped her tears and started for the airport.
At Airport
Heer was noticing Preet since the morning. Her twin brother looked certainly very disturbed about Meher not being around. Heer wanted to talk to Preet alone before he leaves but she was not getting any chance since the morning. She thought it was the right time to talk to him. Maybe Preet would feel a little better to be with her, afterall they were the twins since childhood. Heer walked off to him and tapped on his shoulder from behind.
Heer: Preet? Can I get a moment with my twin brother?
Preet: Yes of course Heer. Actually I am really sorry, I myself wanted to talk you in private before I leave but look at this Meher na? She has just put me into a mind boggling situation.
Heer: Yeah I can see that twin. No wonder you two care for each other just like spouses would do so this is very natural.
Preet: Spouse?! Come on twin, not you too. I think I have made it clear to everyone of you about my feelings this morning when Prem was so up to making me understand about Meher and my feelings again like always.
Heer: Well Preet, I know this should be your call but still you should think twice before going to a conclusion. We all feel there is something more to it which you are not being able to see at the moment.
Preet: Let these be na Heer. I am already tensed about Meher. *Upset face*
Heer: Okay okay my brother. *Hugs Preet from side* So, do you have anything specific to say to me? I am sure you have. You always have a long list of instructions for me and Kayu for our safety purposes.
Preet: *Hugging Heer from side too* Yes I do have that always. For that, I will call you two and check on you both time to time so that you both be careful about you always. But for now, please be careful about the letter guy. Look I don't feel good at all about the whole thing.
Heer: Chill twin. Everyone is here for me and I really want to find out if my guessing is right or not.
Preet: So why do I feel that my twin really likes that someone whom she is guessing about sending her the letter, hmm?
Heer: Well, maybe or maybe not. *Shows her tongue to Preet*
Preet: Not fair, come on tell me now that who is the guy?
Heer: Preet, I think the guy wants it to be just between us and I want to keep the respect of it.
Preet: Okay fine. But the day he proposes you or anything happens like that I should be the first one to know from you. You get that?
Heer: Yes yes haha. Deal. But for now I don't even know if it is him so don't go so far my twin.
Preet: I will miss you twin.
Heer: I will miss you too twin.
The duo went on a blank mood for some seconds as both of them were getting emotional. They kept standing silenty hugging each other from side. Yuvraaj's voice brought them back to reality.
As airport was close to their house so Meher reached there soon. Yuvraaj saw her and screamed out her name loudly.
Yuvraaj: Everyone Meher is here!
Everyone looked to that direction and saw Meher. Preet ran to her and hugged her.
Preet: Where were you idiot? You always call me an idiot but you are the one. *Angry*
Meher: *Hugging* I was just preparing myself for the best one year ahead. No one to eat my head up na? Chilling only. *Tried to laugh*
Preet: SHUT UP! I know what you are meaning. But where were you? I did not find you anywhere. *Tensed*
Meher: *Breaking the hug* In the store room.
Preet: WHAT?! Okay nice, I get it.
Meher: Why you understand me so well Preet?
Preet: Beca...
Before he could reply, their parents called them as it was time for Preet to leave. Preet hugged each and everyone, everyone was in tears. He took blessings from elders and obviously the family gang hugged together and screamed 'WE ARE FAMILY'. When Preet was leaving, Heer with teary eyes held Kaynaat tightly in her arms as she was crying non stop for her Bhaiyu. Meher understood the sisterly feelings of both of them and held them tightly together. When Preet looked back at them Meher could not stop herself anymore and looked away while letting her tear drops coming out. Preet noticed it and decided not to cause any more pain to them, especially Meher so he turned quickly hiding his tears and went inside as soon as possible. Meher looked at him after he turned to the other side and kept looking at him untill his back was seen.
Everyone left the airport. The family gang told her to join them at the pond side in the park but Meher was not in the mood that day. She decided to go back home. Heer, Yuvraaj and Geet wanted to stop her but Umesh stopped them. They hugged Meher and left for the park. Meher went home. She was just waiting for the night to come when she could do Skype with Preet as Preet would be free only then. After reaching Paris, he needed to go to the French Academy for some official works. She opened the door of her room and what she found on her bed made her spellbound.
There was a beautiful Anarkaali salwar suit kept on her bed along with a reciepe book. She found a card near them, she picked up the card.
"My wild cat, Kittu...
This is the reciepe book you were searching for last one month right? About the salwar suit, I know you will look gorgeous in Anarkaali salwar suit. As you have finally decided to have a girly wardrobe so the first gift for it should be from your bestie na?

Meher's eyes got filled with happiness. 'This Crazy guy', she said to herself while smiling. Meanwhile Preet reached Paris, he gave everyone messages that he had reached there safely. Then he got busy with his official works at his new school. Later at evening he went to his new house which his dad took for him. His another friend would join him the next day, so for that night he needed to stay alone. For this reason, he thought that after his work he would roam around the city and would take dinner outside and that is why he and Meher decided to skype at late night. But he was not feeling good at all. He was already missing everyone. He called his parents and talked to them and also to Kaynaat. Kayu and Bhaiyu had a real sweet talk and Preet told her to take care of her Maan Bro. After hanging up he felt like only talking to Meher. He felt void but the balance of his phone ruined his mood. It was really less and as the wifi connection he would get by tomorrow, he would not be able to skype at night if he would call her then. So he decided not to call her because he wanted to see her. He wanted to see her badly. He did not know what was happening to him. He tried to control himself and went to unpack his bag.
He looked at his unpacked bag like a fool. A poster of his favourite game, lots of chocolates and a coffee mug were inside. He found a letter with them.
"Idiot Preet,
What do you think? Kittu won't give you any gift? Everyone will be giving you tomorrow but I am keeping it here in your bag secretly. This are all your favourite things, oh yes I know you are taking your coffee mug with you but please change it. It is high time you should do it. That cup is broken from a side since last two weeks. I know you never noticed it and never let aunty maa to do also. How would she? You never used to remember to keep it back in the kitchen and everytime I had to wash it for you. And about the poster and chocolates we both know what you will do with them.
Kittu."
Preet did not know how to react on this. He screamd 'You are the best Kittu'...Preet was getting restless to talk to her. He was missing her too much. He felt like he left one of his body part behind. He was not getting what was this new weird feeling. He sat on the window, kept looking at the sky and thought about Meher while listening to a song.

Both of them kept on waiting for each other. Preet and Meher were so desparate that they did not even feel like taking dinner. Finally, both of them found out that it was the time they decided for skyping. They jumped with joy and went to take their cell phones but soon all the happiness of Meher's face washed away.
