CHAPTER 8
Meher sat on the bed like a statue. She did not know how to react on it. Tears were not stopping coming from her eyes. After a while she wiped her tears. All her tears formed into anger. She took the paper in her hand and came to the drawing room.
Preet: What is wrong Meher? You look different.
Meher: Should not I be asking you that? *Looked with anger and pain in her eyes at Preet*
Preet: *Guessing it* Meher listen, I was abo...
Before Preet could complete, Meher grabbed Preet's collar and started shouting.
Meher: WHAT? WHAT YOU HAVE LEFT NOW TO TELL ME?!
Prem: Chiki listen to me at once.
Meher: *Showed her hand to Prem to stop* Bagu stop it. Just stop it. I CAN NOT TAKE IT ANYMORE. I know he would not have hidden it from you but please not a word today.
Geet: Meher we were about to tell you.
Meher looked at Geet being all shocked again.
Meher: Oh! *Smiles sarcastically* So you also knew?! WOW! WOW MR. PREET JUNEJA. *She grabbed his collar again*
Yuvraaj heard some chaos in the drawing room so he came back from the balcony. Seeing him Meher turned to him.
Meher: So, our beloved Yuvraaj is also here. Now tell me Yuvi, you also knew about it. Tell me? SPEAK UP!
Yuvraaj understood what had happened and remained silent looking down. Meher understood his silence.
Meher: How much crazy I am na? HUH?! *Smiles to make fun of herself* When everyone knows why won't you know Yuvi? WHY?! And yeah Heer you, I don't even want to ask you because I know you and Bagu were the first one to know. Sadly these days I have become no one.
Heer said nothing and looked down.
Preet: Kittu, please calm down.
Meher: Shut up Preet! JUST SHUT UP! FRENCH ACADEMY, PARIS?! YOU TOOK ADMISSION THERE, EVERYONE KNEW EXCLUDING ME AND WHEN I CAME TO KNOW?! THE DAY BEFORE YOU ARE LEAVING?! Oh sorry that also how? Because I saw the form by chance?! *Shows the form* SO WHAT WERE YOU PLANNING? AFTER REACHING PARIS, YOU WOULD INFORM ME OR NOT EVEN THAT ALSO? *She kept on screaming out*
Preet: Kittu, please don't talk like this please. You know how much bauji wanted to me have a degree from French Academy. I was about to tell you then I thought to live my last days of this year here with having everything normal. I knew you would get emotional so I wanted to tell you tonight. You know na, I can't see you in pain and actually I never wanted to remember that I was leaving my bestie behind!
Meher: WHY PREET WHY?! WHY ARE YOU LEAVING?!
She started hitting on his chest with her hands. After a while when she got tired of hitting him and crying, she hugged him as much tightly as she could.
Meher: Preet don't leave your Kittu. Don't leave us please.
Preet: *Hugging her the same way* Meher I will be back just after one year. After completing 12th I will be here. We will join same university, don't worry.
Meher: ONE YEAR?! TELL ME, FOR LAST 9 YEARS WHEN WE NEVER MET FOR ONE DAY? *She again cried out*
Preet could not hold a grip on himself this time. He just hugged her as he would never let her go and tear drops came down from his eyes.
The gang then made Meher and Preet sat on the sofa. Meher rested her head on Preet's chest and Preet held her in his arms. The other 4 managed the dinner, kept the dishes on a tray and came to Meet. They served dinner to themselves and also to Meher and Preet. Preet took a spoonful of food and tried to feed Meher. Meher did not want to take it but looking at Preet, she could not control herself anymore and took it. She then fed Preet a spoonful also. Seeing this, the others also started having food. Meher and Preet were feeding each other.
Yuvraaj: By the way Preet, you are lucky buddy.
Preet: Why pal?
Prem: Because you won't have to eat Chiki's this yucky foods everyday.
Geet: Hmm and we here are totally done for. Sad life.
Meher gave them an irritating look.
Prate: Yeah right you guys are. *Winked*
Meher started hitting him again.
Meher: Preet? What did you say and you guys wait I will beat up everyone. My biriyani is that bad huh?! I checked at home. It was okay. *Disgusted face*
Everyone looked at each other, laughed out loud and said together screaming, 'MISSION ACCOMPLISHED* Meher understood it was a drama to make her normal. She felt like she was the luckiest person to have these guys in her life and she called for a group hug. They hugged her and told her that the biriyani was very delicious. After their dinner, they did gossip for a while. Then Preet's parents came back and as the kids were getting late they were about to leave.
Preet: Heer, should I come to drop you?
Prem: Oh wow! You know what? Yuvraaj and Prem, I mean me myself are going with Heer and Geet, if you did not notice.
Preet: I did Prem. But you also do these stuffs regarding Meher.
Heer: Twin, we all live nearby, don't be so tensed. Besides, Yuvi and Prem are with us na?
Yuvraaj: Exactly and btw we don't get tensed when Meher goes with you. *Winks*
Geet: Yes yes.
Meher blushed and seeing that Preet got disturbed again.
Preet: Okay okay but go safely people.
After evryone left, Meher was about to leave also when Preet stopped her and asked her to do sleepover. Meher at first was not sure about it but when Gayatri called Teji and told Meher that her parents had no problem if she would stay there, she stayed back.
At night Preet and she played video games together just like their childhood and recalled memories. While recalling memories, Preet held Meher's hands tightly. Then before going to bed they thought of going for a walk in the garden in front of their house. They were walking in the garden and Meher remembered about Kaynaat. She was about to ask him that what happened to Kayu and how could she do a sleepover when her Bhaiyu was leaving the next day. But before she could ask anything, a car stopped in front of their house and a girl came out running to them crying from the car. After a while they realized it was Kaynaat. She came running to them and hugged Preet tightly while crying.
Kaynaat: Bhaiyu, I can't stay without you that is why I fought with you this morning and yeah I also went for the sleepover because I was angry with you but before going to bed when I realized you will go far away tomorrow, I could not control myself and came back. *Crying loudly*
Meher: But who dropped you here Kayu?
Kaynaat: My friend and her dad dropped me here. We saw you guys from the car so they left. *Again hugging Preet tight* I love you bhaiyu.
Preet: *Hugging Kaynaat tightly* Sshhh! Calm down my lil princess. Bhaiyu is just going for one year and will do skype with you everyday okay? I will be back very soon. So please don't cry anymore. *He tried to control himself and breaking the hug he wiped Kaynaat's tears* Till then disturb your Maan bro. *Tried to make the heavy moment somehow light*
Meher: *Understanding him* Yes yes, who cares about this moron. Kayu will have fun with her Maan bro, right Kayu?
Kaynaat hugged both of them together saying, ' I love you two so much'. Meher and Preet looked at each other and replied together, 'We love you too Kayu'. Meher at that moment held Preet's hand while hugging Kaynaat because his eyes were filled and he was trying hard not to break down in front of Kayu.
Kaynaat: *Breaking the hug* Will you two put me to sleep together today like childhood?
Meher and Preet smiled at her and then they took her to her bedroom. They leaned down on the bed exactly like childhood but the difference of that night was that it was a big bed and it was Kaynaat's own bedroom. Just like childhood Preet started reading a story book for Kayu and Meher kept moving her hand through Kaynaat's hair.
Soon Kaynaat fall asleep. Then Meher and Preet slowly came out of her room, gave each other a hug and bid good night. Then Preet went to his bedroom and Meher went back to Kayu's room. But little did she know that at midnight someone came into Kayu's room just to look at her for some moments and the person kept staring at her while whispering 'I will miss you bestie'...
