CHAPTER 4
It was a summer vacation. Preet rubbed his eyes and looked at the wall clock in his room.
Preet: Oh no! 9.30?!! Meher is already here by now i guess. I hope everything is okay.*Nervous face*
Preet got freshen up and went out of his bedroom. He found Meher sitting on the sofa having Kaynaat on her lap and watching cartoon on TV. His mom and aunty maa were busy doing some works in the kitchen.
Kaynaat: Bhaaaiyu! Maan bro, bhaiyu is here.
Meher looked at Preet and smiled, Preet smiled back.
Preet: Oh hi Meher! This early at my home? You need something? By the way Kaynaat, Maan bro?!
Kaynaat: Yes yes, she is my super hero. So she is Maan Bro. *Gave a big smile showing all her teeth*
Meher: Awwwh, Kayu baby. *Kissed Kaynaat on cheek* And Preet actually mom came here and she also took me along. I don't know why she woke me up this early though. *Confused face*
Preet: Oh okay. *He felt relieved in his mind as everything was alright*
After a while, the bell rang. Gayatri opened the door. A bunch of kid came running around in the house. Yes they were Prem, Yuvraaj and Geet! Meher was surprised to see them there. Preet gave a meaningful smile to them. They did the same to Preet.
Meher: Wait! What is happening?! Why you guys smiling like this?
Prem: Because of this chiki. *He handed Preet a packet*
Meher: What is it?!
Geet: Preet, now tell her.
Preet: Take a look yourself Meher. *Gave the packet to Meher*
Meher opened the packet and what she found inside made her spellbound. It was the video game DVD which she was searching for last one month. She could not find it anywhere. She was just way too much happy.
Meher: Preeet! *Shocked* Where did you guys find it?
Yuvraaj: It was all a plan of Preet buddy. He wanted to give you a surprise.
Prem: Yes chiki. You know, he asked me about how can we guys do something for you as you always keep doing something. So I told him about the DVD.
Geet: And he managed it finally. It took much time to get it. Oh God, how much you worked hard on this.
Heer: Yeah truly Preet. It took almost 2 weeks to get it right ?
Preet: Yeah almost. *Shy-face*
Meher: Oiii! Why are you blushing again champu? *Hugged Preet tightly* Thank you buddy, thanks a lot. You are my best friend you know?
Prem, Heer, Yuvraaj and Geet: AND US?!
Meher: *Breaking the hug* Haha you all are family guys.
Preet: Thanks to Prem too for telling me about the DVD.
Prem: Anytime buddy.
Meher: My Bagu is the best always.
Then the kids started to play the video game. At first it was Meher and Preet which Preet won. Meher was really impressed to see such a good player in Preet. Geet was never interested in these stuffs. So she started studying taking few books from Preet's study table.
Yuvraaj: What are you even upto Geetu? *Weird face*
Geet: Let me study Yuvraaj! Day after tomorrow, we all have a test which we missed before the vacation remember?
Meher: Oh yeah, now we have to give it personally. But what Geetu? You can study at home tonight na? Come here now.
Geet: Not so interested in these you know me Meher.
Prem: Let her be guys. At least we will be able to write up something day after tomorrow if she will study.
Heer: I think, I will join Geetu too.
Prem: Phew! Finally you got some brain.
Meher: Why you always behave like this with her? Uff!
Prem: What?! I mean all well. Two is better than one. Geet and Heer both should study to save all of us.
Meher: Oh really?! Now that is very nice of you to think about all of us thanks. *Sarcastic*
Heer: Thanks Prem for thinking well of everyone. *Happy face*
Prem: See chiki? *Winks to show his victory*
Meher made a irritated face to Prem and looked away.
Then it was turn for Yuvraaj and Preet to play. While Preet and Yuvraaj were playing, Meher thought to do a prank. She called Kaynaat and said something in her ears. Kaynaat seemed totally excited hearing about that and nodded her head as a yes. Meher took Kaynaat on her lap, ran towards Preet and when they were just near him, Kaynaat screamed 'BHAUWWW' loudly. Preet got really scared and jumped on the floor out of fear. Everyone laughed out loud and Kaynaat had a lot fun doing it. Preet nodded his head in disgust to which Meher made funny faces. Then when it was Meher and Prem's turn Preet thought to himself that anyhow he needed to do something. So while Meher was very attentive in the game, suddenly out of no where she started almost dancing and laughing like mad. Actually Preet was tickling her. Meher in between controlling her laugh and saving herself from Preet's continious tickling looked angrily at everyone.
Meher: Who told you about my this weakness?
Preet just looked at Yuvraaj.
Meher: Yuviii. *Being all angry*
Yuvraaj: Haha. I just made you laugh Meher.
Meher: Yeah yeah right you idiot.
They had an wondeful time together. Moreover, Kaynaat was like the cherry on top for them. They enjoyed a lot with her also. As it was evening time so the kids were preparing themselves for leaving. Geet noticed Heer was nowhere seen. She went to look out for Heer. Soon she found a very upset looking Heer sitting on the balcony of the drawing room.
Geet: Heer? What happened?! Why you look so upset?
Heer: Umm nothing much. Are we leaving now? I heard you all talking about it.
Geet: Yes but tell me what is bothering you?
Meher: Hey girls! Why are you both here? I saw Geet going towards the balcony so came here.
Geet: Look na Meher, Heer is surely very upset about something. She is not telling me.
Meher: Heer?! What happened sweetheart?
Heer: Okay, I think I have to tell you two now. I am upset about Prem guys. Look I know he did sarcasm about me at Preet's room. He wasn't really meaning that. He just wanted me to leave you people playing and join Geet. I have been trying to be friends with him since the first day but he does not like me at all. I don't even know why. *Almost crying face*
Meher: Hey! Don't cry now. I will talk to Bagu.
Geet: Yes. Now please don't cry. Maybe Prem felt a bit weird as you suddenly came up and smiled at him on the first day. You remember that?
Heer: Yeah I do. Hmm maybe for that but what can I do? I really like his smile. I saw him smiling with you all, I liked it and also felt that he will be a friendly guy and I went up to him with a smiling face.
Geet: You like his smile?! Are you in love Heer?! *Overexcited voice*
Meher: But we are just 9 you stupid.
Geet: Oh yeah. *Sighs* We don't have that emotion working is us. Our mom says it does not work in our mind till we grow up. Like it is invalid now.
Meher: Yes exactly.
Heer: Never talked to mom about this but moms are always right. I will ask my mon about it today too.
Meher: Yeah sure, I know your mom will agree too. But for now let me talk to someone who needs to know about all these much.
After a while Meher returned with Prem. Meher and Geet then left as the other boys were calling them.
Prem: Sorry Heer. I heard everything. Look, I don't hate you or anything. Actually Geet got it right. Suddenly seeing you smile like that in the class made me feel weird. But no worries, we are friends now. You are a nice girl.
Heer: Did Meher tell you about your smile thingy?
Prem: *Talks in his mind* Oh yes she did. I wish I could make her understand that you actually give me different vibes. Oh yeah, I know everything you 3 talked about. You know we are kids and this age is just great to make friends. You know FRIENDS? *Putting emphasize on the word friends* So friends? *Gives hand to shake*
Heer: Friends. *Shakes hand*
Then Heer and Prem went to Preet's room again and the kids soon took leave. Teji also called Meher so that they could leave.
Meher: Mamma, a bit more time please?
Tejita: No darling. Your papa and dadda have come back from their fishing outing and me and your aunty maa also had an amazing day just like you guys but now we need to go home.
Preet: Aunty maa, just a bit more please please?
Kaynaat: Aunty maa, let Maan bro do a sleep over here today please?
Gayatri: Yeah, Teji. That is better actually. Let Meher be here today. You live just at the nect door house and the vacations are on so no tension. Let the kids have a good time.
Tejita: Are you sure Gayatri?
Gayatri: Yes oviously. Just look how much the kids want to be together and lil Kayu wants her Maan bro to stay over. Right Kayu?
Kaynaat: Yes yes. *Jumps with joy*
Tejita: Umm okay then but Meher don't disturb your aunty maa too much. Be a nice kid okay?
Meher: *Hugs her mother tightly with joy* Nooo mom. Thank you!
Preet and Kaynaat together: Thank you aunty maa. *Big smiles*
It was dinner time. As the kids had too much heavy snack in the evening so Gayatri made them soup and Kaynaat never liked soup so she gave her a glass of milk. Kaynaat was drinking milk while watching cartoons in the drawing room and Meher and Preet were at Preet's dining table looking at the two pipping hot bowls of soup in front of them. Soup was always Meher's favourite and out of excitement despite of Gayatri's warning of not having the soup before it gets a bit cold, Meher took a spoonful in her mouth. After that she could not even scream out. Sh just kept her mouth open and started taking breathes heavily.Preet laughed at first but later he felt really bad for her. He took the bowl from Meher.
Preet: Watch me now. Mom says to have soup like this always.
He took one spoonful and gave blows to it. Then Fed Meher like that, he did it for 2-3 times and then gave Meher her bowl back to eat in that way.
At night, they went to the kid's room where Preet and Kaynaat used to sleep.Preet always had to make Kaynaat sleep unless she never used to go to sleep.That night she asked both Preet and Meher to made her sleep and in order to do that they took Kayu in between them on her bed and leaned on the bed. It was bit difficult to adjust as it was not a large bed. Only two kids could manage properly in a semi single bed like that. Preet started reading stories from a story book of Kaynaat and Meher kept caressing Kaynaat's hair. Time passed by and when they both also fell asleep along with Kaynaat they did not even realize. They both were hugging Kaynaat while sleeping. The 3 kids slept peacefully without even knowing how much adorable they looked like that.
