Here's my new chapter.. Do hit the like button if u like and please. criticisms are most welcome...
CHAPTER 4
It was our lunch break and Soumya and me were heading to the canteen. Everyone were staring at me. I didn't know why.
We were about to enter the canteen, but were stopped by 3 girls. They were the final year students. Our seniors.
"Names please.." asked one of them.
I could see Soumya getting nervous. She was holding my hand tight.
"I'm heer and this is Soumya" I replied.
"Oooh.. Thank you Heer.. But don't ever try to be over smart.. Is your friend a dumb?"
Well, I had no answer. I was trying to help my friend. But they misunderstood.
"See, the college has a special dresscode for students. No jeans are allwed here. Salwar!! Do you understand?"
We nodded
"And you, Miss Smart, Where are you coming from?"
"Bangalore.. "I replied
"Oh you are staying in the hostel, right? We'll see you there.. "
They left and we rushed to the canteen. the rest of the day, my mind was wandering.. I could not even concentrate. Usually, in my school days, I was very fast in takling down lecture notes.. And i even helped Prem, cos he was a slow writer.
But today, I could not just listen to the class.. And I felt, Prem might be wondering what happened to me..
"We'll see you there!!" Those words from the seniors.. I'm not used to be scared for such things, but today, I'm scared. May be because, my family is not here.
The bell rang and it was time to go o the hostel. I was in the lobby, waiting for Soumya. I sw her soming with her father.
SOUMYA:Heer, I need to go to my home. Jeeju has arrived from Canada. Sorry dear, I won't be there with you in the hostel. It's ok na?
"Oohhh No problem Soumya.. I can manage.." I replied. But, Iit was like hell for me. Alone in a room... Away from home...
SOUMYA:Byee heer.. See you tomorrow..
"Byee Take care!!"
She left with her father and I was walking to my hostel. It was just a km away from the college. But, it started raining. And for my good luck, I didn't have an umbrella.
I saw a car approaching me. It stopped and the glass window opened. I could see a girl, with platted hai. And in the driver seat, it was Harman.
He is our classmate... And a dear friend of Prem. I always saw Prem and Harman together. Harman's father is a police officer.
HARMAN: Heer can't you see it's raining?
"Yeah.. But I don't have an Umbrella" I replied
HARMAN: I can see that Get in.. I'll drop you..
I didn't feel like refusing. The backside door was opened, and I got inside. But for my surprise, Prem was sitting next to me..
HARMAN: Sorry Her, this idiot also does not have an umbrella. I thought of dropping him too..
"oh It's ok harman."
He continued driving. The girl in the front seat turned back.
"Hello, I'm Archana." she said.
"Hii Archana"
ARCHANA: I'm studyig in 10th standard, I'm his sister.
Ohh now remember. In the introduction class, Harman had told about Archana, his sister.. His best friend.
My hostel had reached. I thanked Harman and got inside the hostel.
The rain had subsided, and I was in my room. I was chatting with my bhabhi... Nd as always, her instructions was how to take care of my hair...
"Heer make sure, you do oil massage atleast twice in a week" she said
"Yes bhabhi... I'll do that"
BHABHI: And 1 more thing, don't ever try to cut your hair.. Many of your frineds may be having short hair.. But..
"Oh bhabhi, I know... I won't be like others.. "
BHABHI: tell me, was there any ragging?
"Not exactly.."
I didn't mention about Prem.. Besides, she doesn't know about him. I told her about the scene in the canteen.
BHABHI: Heer, be careful.. These seniors may..
"Don't worry bhabhi.. And what's the news there? How's bhayya? nd dad?"
I heard a knock at my door.
"Bhabhi, I'll call you later. Good night"
BHABHI: take care..
I opened the door and was shocked to see the three seniors we saw at the canteen today. they entered my room and one of them closed the door. I was feeling nervous as I didn't know what they are up to.
"Hi, I'm Isha" said one of them, and gave me a hand shake.
"Veena"
"Meera"
all three introduced them selves.
"Heer.. Heer Maan" I said.
ISHA: Oh dear, this is your problem. Did we ask your name?
VEENA: Yeah... you are smart..
MEERA: And looking gud too.. But your hair...
VEENA: yeah, It doesn't match you. Need to have a hair cut..
"Sorry?" I didn't get them
But then, I saw one of them taking a pair of scissors and the other two making me sit.
"Please.. I don't want a hair cut."
VEENA: Shut up...
I closed my eyes... I could feel my hair being cut.
"Oohh Dear... Look at the beauty now!!" said one of them.
I could see my hair lying on the floor.
"bye Beauty... And one more thing.. Don't you ever dare to complaint.. As if you do so.. troubles will come your way... " and they left.
I stood before the mirror, seeing my shoulder length hair. and the long hair lying on the floor. I couldn't cry as i felt like something had caught my throat.
Next day!!
As usual, I got ready for my college and as I used to, i combed my hair.. and started to plat it. But then, I realized that i don't have long hair. I let y hair open and left for college.
My classmates were staring at me... As they have never imagined me to cut my hair. Those who complemented about my hair yesterday were just shocked.
SOUMYA: Why did you cut your hair Heer?
"Eeerrmm.. Nothing.. Felt sooo.."
She didn't question me further.
And the class proceeded. Even I could see Prem staring at me.. And for the lunch break.. One of our classmates had served a treat... And that was the platform for everyone to discuss about my new hair style.
Soumya and myself were with Harman and Prem.. And Avinash was serving his birthday treat . Avinash is a good friend of us.. Just like Harman. He is a good singer too..
"Heer.. This doesn't match you at all.." said Soumya
"No... you look so cute now.." said Avinash
"I agree with Soumya.. Heer, you should not have had a hair cut!!" That was Harman's remark.
The group discussion was about my hair and each second I felt like shattering.
HARMAN: Heer, tell me this, when did you cut your hair? Yeaterday till 4 you were with us..
AVINASH:Heyy Heer, Are you crying?
I don't know how the hell, he noticed my tears..
"No I'm not.."
HARMAN:No.. you are crying. Tell us Heer.. What happened?
I had to described the whole event to them as I felt they are good friends.
AVINASH: This is ragging.. We should complaint.
SOUMYA; Yeah..
"Ohh please.. No.. Let it be!! "
SOUMYA: Sorry Heer that I had to leave you alone in hostel.
"No problem Soumya.. "
HARMAN:See The gentla man coming.. Oyeee Blackberry...
Well, Prem has got a nick name Blackberry after the mobile incident.
Prem came to our group.
HARMAN: What happened?
PREM: They told that It's not possible.
HARMAN: Did you ask your parents?
PREM: Yeah.. They are also having the ssame opinion.
SOUMYA: What is it?
HARMAN: These days, this duffer was suffering from Home sickness.. He wants to go back to Delhi, where he got an engineering seat for IT. And what did the office people say?
PREM: They told that they can't give my fees back and the college in Delhi will not accept my application and the classes had started there too. And my parents are not willing to change my college..
HARMAN: Wich means, you'll have to continue here.. right?
PREM: Yeah..
I didn't kow this Prem was trying to change his college.. Was that because of me?? i didn't know I looked at Prem who was staringat my hair now.
SOUMYA: Prem do you know, heer has suffered ragging ..
And she described everything. Prem again looked at me.. But didn't say anything.
AVINASH; Anyways Prem, As you are not going back now you have got friends here...
HARMAN: Yeah!! You, Avi, Soumya, Heer and Me!! How's that?
PREM: Heyy Harman.. I'm not interested...
SOUMYA: So what.. Four years we have.. And we'll be good friends..
AVINASH: Yes!! All five together.. From now on...
