Developing friendship

Ashlesha:Lagta hai Heer di ke peeche yaha bhi pohoch gaye yeh

They all giggled and Heer smiled. Prem was also surprised to find all of them there.

He reached over them with delight.

Prem: Heer, (huge smile) kitna accha huwa jo tum mujhe yahi milgayee. I'd just arrived from Pune this morning and had made the decision to meet you this evening and look at my luck I found you here only (Heer gave him a shy smile) how is your health now?

Heer: Me ab bilkul theek hu

Both smiled and stared at each other with love.

Soon Anurag followed and was busy on the phone. At first he didn't see all of them but when he saw Pihu he paused and put his call on hold. Then he decided to go and meet her and return her bracelet. As he got near Rishab turned around

Rishab: Hi Anurag

Anurag glared at him; didn't acknowledge him and turned away resuming his call. After he finished he walked further.

Anurag: chalo Prem, we're getting late for our meeting

Prem nodded and then both of them left.

Rishab turned back a bit offended and Pihu could't help but notice it

Veera: Hey Rishab if you're not busy why don't you join us in shopping?

Rishab: Oh I don't know (politely) I wouldn't like to imprude like that on you guys

Veera:nahi aisee koi baat nahi (grabbed his arm excitedly) we'll have fun come on.

Pihu couldn't help but compare Rishab with Anurag. Of how Rishab was humble and considerate whereas Anurag was arrogant and selfish.

All of them set out together walking through the mall, going through various shops and just having fun. Finally they reached the foodcourt and ordered food from a small restaurant.

Ritesh: (smirked) My God this place looks just like the store room in Balrajji's mansion

Owner:Ji? (offended) Kya kaha

Heer: (tried to cover up and not create another scene) Actually my friend here was just joking. Infact he was complimenting because the store room over there is so well organised just like here (eyed Ritesh to make him agree) Am I right Ritesh?

Ritesh: Ji ha. You should feel lucky that I compared your restaurant with the great mansion of Balrajji

Owner: (shrugged his shoulders as he found Ritesh not only annoying but rude) Mujhe laga ke aap mere restuarant kee burai karahai hai (sarcastically) I'm sorry.

Ritesh just continued boasting and commenting on the flaws irritating the rest. However all this while Pihu and Rishab kept exchanging glances and smiled as if they both were dying to talk to each other alone.

Owner:Sir, aap mere saath aaye me aapko ek khaas jage pe betha ta hu (he was really irritated by him and thought of teaching him a lesson)

Ritesh: Are mujhe aisa kuch nahi chaaheeye per tum kehrahe ho to theek hai (turned towards Pihu) Pihu agar aap mujhe aagya de to kuch dair me iske saath chala jayu?

Pihu: (fake smile) Be my guest

After he left both Heer and Pihu burst out laughing

Veera got up after finishing her food and then just dragged Rishab with her to see something and Ashlesha also followed. She behaved as if she knew the guy since a long time and he just followed her so she didn't feel bad.

After some time Rishab managed to excuse himself from the two girls and found Pihu sitting on a bench alone.

Rishab: Woah I thought your sisters would never leave me (laughed)

Pihu: (smiled) I'm sorry they can be too persistent sometimes. Especially Veera who is difficult to control

Rishab: Ah that's not a problem as I thoroughly enjoyed with both of them. They're rather too kind and great for me.

Pihu smiled.

Rishab: I must say (scratched his head) I was rather surprised to find Prem Juneja here

Pihu: Kyu? Is me hairaan hone waalee kya baat hai

Rishab: No there is nothing major it's just... (sighed and pondered)

Pihu:I saw how Anurag Juneja completely ignored you as if you didn't exist (crossed face) It didn't really surprise me to that extent as he is that way with simply everybody but it does seem you know him quite well

Rishab: ha...wo... (again sighed and made a sad face. Then forced on a smile) How long have you known the twin brothers?

Pihu:Not long at all. Actually I barely know them as we've barely had one to three meetings and that too I must say extremely brief.

Rishab: I've known them since childhood to be exact

Pihu seemed shocked

Rishab: Infact you could say I've literally grown up with them

Pihu: Per wo to...

Rishab: (saw her confused face and gave a sad smile) I know you must be wondering that then that would make us the best of friends but sometimes life doesn't take off as you planned earlier. You don't always get the happiness you deserved. (saw how Pihu agreed with him)

Pihu: I could understand what you mean as I myself had to live with them in the same house for three days (she bit her teeth together) You won't believe how they had been like living in hell for me. I've no problems with Prem Juneja as he is a really nice guy but Anurag Juneja (shook her head) I haven't seen a more conceited man than him.

Rishab:Yeh I agree many people think of him like that (shook his head) but I beg to differ

Pihu: Per her koi onke bare me aisa hee kehta hai (disappointed) I don't think I've heard anyone complimenting him but only complaining about his proud behaviour. That's simply just distancing him from the world further.

Rishab: I agree with you Miss Priyamvada but there really is no point in fretting about it all my life. It has been difficult but I've made a life on my own where now I've got all the happiness I required. So his existence doesn't really matter to me anymore. If he has a problem then he could leave, I'm not affected.

Pihu smiled in agreement

Rishab: Miss Priyamvada (became upset) It's not that I haven't tried to mend my ways with him but he simply just doesn't acknowledge anything he doesn't approve of. I've always tried to be friendly and obedient towards him but he has always been cold and stonehearted.

She was surprised to hear that and wanted to hear more

Rishab: My father JaiSingh was Mr. Shekhar Juneja's personal assisstant. He had always been loyal towards his job and Mr. Juneja had always considered my father and my family as his own. It was his graciousness (smiled and did a silent prayer for him) unfortunately my father died of cancer but Mr. Juneja didn't desert us and he helped us as much as he could. He considered me just like his sons and gave me a nice job and position (sad face again) I don't know what had happened but from the beginning Anurag had always looked down at me and didn't approve of my connections with his father. I couldn't figure it whether it was me who had done something. I even tried to fix things and make friends but he just wasn't interested. You could say that he was just waiting for his kind father to leave the world so he could finally rule and make the changes he had always wanted to make. (short laugh) And the biggest and upmost change he made first was to fire me and take away all the beneficiaries my family used to receive from his father. To ab me khud apne balbude pe yaha tak pohocha hu.

Pihu:I can't believe it (kept ruminating on what she heard) I'd no idea that he was so cruel and harsh. A man like him deserves to be publicly humiliated for all the miscreants he has created in this world

Rishab: Perhaps that would happen one day (shook his head in disagreement) but I wouldn't be the one making sure it happens (Pihu gave him a concerned look) Mr. Shekhar Juneja has done a lot for my family and me so I would never do anything that would taint his name or position.

Just then Veera and Ashlesha came running and laughing out loudly with each other. Rishab also joined in and Pihu too.

Pihu: You certainly are very different and nothing like Anurag Juneja. Tumhe bhi wahi parwarish milee hai Mr. Juneja se per tum kitne zameen pe ho or wo kitne oonche aasmaan per hai ke pair neeche utar te hee nahi

Rishab: Hmm, maine hamesha seekha hai ke jo aadmi dusro kee izzat karta hai oskee izzat sab karte hai. Then whats the point of holding grudges against each other? I've made a good life for myself now where I've got a good position as a police officer. I've got pretty good friends and then (gave her a knowing smile) recently I just met all you good and beautiful people so I would truely call myself quite accomplished.

Pihu smiled and blushed at his comment.

Rishab: I request you Miss Priyamvada that please don't feel any pity for me. I truely have nothing against this world and have moved on.

Veera: Pihu di, (excited) why are taking pity on Rishab?

Both Rishab and Pihu stared at each other wondering what to say

Rishab: Oh nothing I just told her that I haven't ate any ice cream for ages.

Veera: Oh my god (exaggerated concern) you're not serious? Come on we've got to get you an ice cream right now.

Veera dragged Rishab away and he obliged giving Pihu a grateful look. She looked back at him with content that he was a good man.

Later Rishab dropped all of them back home safely and then he left.

Heer's room

Heer:I don't seem to agree that Anurag Juneja could be such a man (she looked doubtful) Zara socho Pihu ke aisa kese hosakta hai. I mean Prem also knows Rishab but he has never mentioned anything about their alliance.

Pihu: There doesn't seem to be any reason for why Rishab would make all this up. He has lost so much that he wouldn't really go for losing more

Heer: (looked into her eyes the concern for Rishab) I feel like you're becoming quite fond of this Rishab

Pihu: (gave a shy smile) shayad mujhe pasand aane laga hai. Per Heer kise pasand nahi aaehga wo? He is such a lovable person that anyone would want to be friends with him.

Heer: I don't know Pihu (worried) Is it right to have such blind faith?

Pihu: there's nothing about blind faith here Heer (adamant) After seeing it for myself I'd to agree with what Rishab said. The way Anurag Juneja appeared with him was clearly visible. That simply leaves no possibility for not believing him.

Heer: (sighed and sat next to her) Yeh sab maana mushkil to hai or samajh me nahi aata ke kya sahi hai or kya ghalat.

Pihu:isme or soch ne kee koi baat nahi. Believe me Heer this is the reality and I totally and completely believe what Rishab said.

Heer didn't probe further as she knew that Pihu won't listen to her anyways so she left it at that.

Few days later

All the five sisters were blessed with unexpected visitors. Rishab decided to drop by Maan Niwas with his friends and they all grouped up and went out. Veera and Ashlesha were ever ready as a group of young guys just excited them and they didn't care who they were or what they were. Heer and Pihu were hesitant to just let them go off but then Rishab assured them that his friends were harmless and good by nature and would take care of them two. Pihu wanted to go alone with Rishab but Ritesh decided to accompany them.

He was being his usual boastful self.

Ritesh:Have you any idea how expensive the door of Balrajji Juneja's estate is? The price runs in millions far more than any of us can possibly count

Rishab: millions? (pretended to be surprised) phir to wo bohat hee bara hoga

Ritesh: bara bhi to kitna bara. Ab...

Rishab:Does that mean that the door has been made according to Balrajji's size?

Ritesh just laughed as he thought it was a joke

Heer came running towards them.

Heer: Oh thank God Ritesh I found you (caught on her breath) I've been searching all over for you, infact Mauli mujhse ziada tumhe dhoondh rahee hai. There's a really great library down the road and she has found an interesting book which I'm sure only you can decipher.

Ritesh:per me to wo...

Heer: (tried convincing him) Please this is very important and wasn't it you who had stated how you'll be our aid whenever required?

Ritesh:If that is the case then I shall come with you

As he left he kept smiling like a clown towards Rishab and Pihu. Heer gave Pihu a knowing look and Pihu mouthed a thank you to her. Then finally when he was gone Rishab stared at Pihu in amazement.

Rishab:Your friend appears to be quite interesting

Pihu:A very subtle way for you to put it Rishab. I know perfectly well that he is a moron.

Both of them walked together down the road

Pihu: You mind if I ask you a question? (he nodded his head) You only mentioned about your relations with Anurag Juineja but you never told me how they were with Prem Juneja

Rishab: Well (scratched his forehead) you'd be surprised how little I know him eventhough they would have been together all the time. As you know that Anurag and Prem lived abroad all their life and only visited various places occasionally. It seemed that Anurag visited India more often than Prem and his association with my family was more. I don't know Prem that well but the little that I do I can say he is a perfect gentleman in everyway. I've always seen him as a people's person who goes out of his way to help those in need and just make others feel better. Dono hain to judwa per onme koi common baat nahi (eyed her affectionately as if indirectly referred to her and Heer)

Pihu: I couldn't agree less (they continued walking down the road) However it does make me wonder how he can be the twin brother of Anurag Juneja, I mean does he even know his true self? If he does then how come he didn't help in your case?

Rishab: Probably because no one can really stand up to the great Anurag Juneja (sarcastically) Anurag hamesha wahi karta hai jo ose theek lagta hai. There are only two possibilities in which he'll ever be forced to change his decision and that would be if the person giving him the orders would be higher or equal to him.

Pihu: onhone tumhaare saath itna sab kuch kiya phir bhi tum onke liye itna bura kabhi sochte hee nahi. Maana parega tumhe

Rishab: (smiled) I told you Miss Priyamvada...

Pihu: Please call me Pihu

Rishab: (he continued to smile) Ok, Pihu. I'd told you before too of how it doesn't really matter what he does or doesn't do. My life doesn't run on him anymore so I really haven't got any grudges against him.

They walked further in silence and then Pihu remembered about Gauri.

Pihu: Since you know Juneja brothers then that does mean you would know Gauri Juneja too

Rishab: Actually I haven't had the pleasure of knowing her at all (Pihu appeared curious) because mainly she had stayed abroad. It's similar to how I don't know Prem. Mr. Shekhar Juneja stayed in Delhi whilst Anurag and Prem have always stayed in London. Anurag only made frequent visits just for a few hours and left. And let me add those few hours were also like thorns for him because he had to face me all the time (he just laughed and then got back to the topic) I've only heard about her and was told that she had been the prettiest and lovelist creature but she couldn't really stay away from the clutches of Anurag and turned out just like him (Pihu felt sorry for her) She has been in boarding school in fact so has been kept away from the world I would say. She would probably be about 21 or 22 by now, similar to your sister Veera I think

Pihu: Veera is only 20

They had reached the group with Veera and Ashlesha and they saw how the two girls were enjoying themselves and they also just smiled upon their happiness. Then both of them turned around to walk back.

Rishab: there is one more thing you're unaware of Pihu (she looked up at him) Nupur Basu sirf Anurag kee acchi dost hee nahi hai, balke oskee hone waalee mangetar bhi hai

Pihu: (bedazzled) acha?

Rishab:apparently it was his father's condition before he died that he got married to her but it couldn't happen so I would say the loyal son would accomplish his father's wish soon.

Pihu: (laughed about it) they truely are made for each other. Per phir bhi mujhe Nupur ke liye bura lagraha hai ke ose zindagee bhar ke liye Anurag Juneja ko jhel na parega.

It made Rishab laugh too and both of them soon reached the others and decided to leave.

In the evening

DJ: Heer! Pihu! Mauli! Ashlesha! Veera! Sab kaha ho jaldi aao!

All the girls came running towards Daljit in the hall.

Lalit: Offo Daljit aisee kounsee aafat aagayee?

DJ: (couldn't control her excitement) Lalit, Lalit, Lalit what shall I say it's overwhelming news (eyes wide) Tum sab sunogee to tum bhi khushi se uchal parogee especially you Heer.

Heer and Pihu both were surprised and gave each other a confused look. Pihu could feel it was something related to Prem.

Lalit:ab bataougi bhi ke nahi

DJ: I just got a call from Prem Juneja's assistant that we've all been invited to a party at Juneja's residence after four days (wide smile) it's Prem and Anurag Juneja's birthday party so you could just imagine how grand it would be. Finally the day we'd been waiting for has arrived. Onhone hum sab ko khaas kar ke bulaaya hai. Oh Lalit you won't believe how elated I am right now

Lalit: certainly as it is a joyous occasion for those twins.

DJ: Oh yes and Ritesh you're also invited

Ritesh:I accept it with great gratitude

Pihu: Let me warn you Ritesh that this wouldn't exactly be like the parties held at Windsor. Would you really have fun in an Indian party?

Ritesh:Oh Pihu you're so kind enough to take care of me. It would be difficult I agree but if you my dear (got up and pleaded to her) would be by my side then it won't be impossible. Please promise me that you'll give me the pleasure of accompanying me into this party.

He kept snorting which made Veera and Ashlesha laugh especially because poor Pihu got stuck with the old fool again. Pihu just groaned and huffed as there was nothing else she could do but to agree as the guy was just not going to leave her alone.
