~~~Part 2~~~
Just in nick of time the guy moved out of the way or would have got hit. The sudden crash of the pot also made him jerk and he rolled away. When the pot reached the ground and got shattered it was then that his gaze fell above onto Heer and he was stunned.
Both their eyes met, revealing so many emotions that only time would tell how much they were going to change in progression.
Roshni se bhare bhare
Bhare bhare naina tere
Chuke na bole na chuna mujhe
The dark brown dangerous irises turned a shade of misty grey as they stared up with anger. No one had ever dared to disturb his peace like that and here his life was also put at risk. "What the hell do you think you're doing?" he yelled as he got on his feet.
Heer had totally panicked after had heard his scolding and then she looked back at Preet who had called her and just didn't know whom to attend first. If at one time she stared at Preet who was busily looking around the room, then at the other time she would look down towards the stranger whom she nearly injured with her carelessness, and thought how she was going to explain herself. She couldn't let him know how she had been staring at him like that as she would just make a complete fool of herself. But then what could have been a good reason.
"Heer?" Preet called again as he stepped on the terrace, closing in on her. When she didn't respond he wondered what she found so engrossing that she ignored him. As he reached behind her, he looked over her shoulder down below and frowned. He saw an unknown man's back towards him as he slipped on his shirt and wrapped a towel around his neck. "Heer, I've been calling you for so long and you're not responding?"
Finally he got her attention and she turned towards him nervously. "Ummm...I'm sorry bhaiya wo...actually I don't know what happened and I lost...ummm..." she paused as she couldn't muster out the proper words.
Seeing her nervousness he wondered what exactly she was watching and he hoped she wasn't watching the man down there. Whoever it was he didn't want his sister to mess up in the mind. "What happened?"
"Actually by mistake ummm..." she pointed down below, "I broke the flower pot and..." she didn't say anything further.
Preet just shook his head and then he looked down there to see what exactly happened and that's when he caught the glimpse of the man. "Prem?" he looked until Prem had walked off inside.
More like thundered inside as he was disappointed. His steps stopped right in the hall and stood there whilst one of the servants came to give him water. After taking the glass he sauntered off towards the main door and signalled the security guard to come over to him.
"Yes sir, any problems?" the guard asked politely.
"That's your job to see there are no problems." Prem scolded him. "yeh ghar hain ke dharam shaala ke koi bhi uth ke aajaata hain?" the guard down casted his eyes with nervousness. "Do you have any sense of responsibility? Do you even have the capability of doing this job?" he took his proper schooling.
The guard felt afraid that what did he do wrong and will he lose his job. He slightly trembled as Prem continued with his complaints. "I'm sorry sir."
That angered Prem further, "stop saying sorry and go and do your job." He put his hands in his pockets and ordered. "Jao jaake pata karo ke ek larki yaha kya karahee hain." Then he walked off shaking his head suggesting how useless the guard was.
Back inside the Maan's residence, Heer had begun decorating the room again but she couldn't take Prem's image out of her sight. Every time she began to do something, his gorgeous well toned back kept disturbing her. The image of the single line of sweat flowing down his spine made her go weak in the knees and brought up all these erotic ideas in her mind. She brushed it off immediately but they emerged again in a matter of few seconds. What was about him that she couldn't concentrate on anything else at all? She didn't know but there sure was something. She thought, "his name is Prem..." his name lingered on her tongue as she whispered it several times. "So this is Prem, Lalit's uncle's son. I can't believe I finally met him...okay haven't exactly met him but finally got to see him. The one about whom I'd always had heard but never seen or met." She finished off with the veils of flowers hanging around the bed and then she moved to shower the bed sheet with rose petals.
Sapno se bhare bhare
Bhare bhare naina tere
Chuke na bole na chuna mujhe
At one point she paused and drooled over Prem again but then hit her head to stop with her childishness and to concentrate on her brother's wedding. She kept telling herself but it was hard. Make that terribly hard.
There didn't seem to be a lot of female fans running behind Prem, or that is what he thought and never before a woman had intrigued him this much. He stood under the hot shower thinking how just one glimpse of her had stirred something inside. Hell he didn't even know who it was and it was just a brief encounter of a few seconds, so why did it feel like eons for him? It terribly disturbed him and he hated to be disturbed.
Half an hour later he came down the stairs fully dressed in his designer suit, ready to go to the office. He was five minutes late today and that too because of that flower pot incident. He hated being late. One more tick, in his hate list. As he reached the bottom of the stairs the guard returned and informed him that he didn't find any unknown lady on the premises. Prem wasn't pleased with him as it was and now he was on the edge of firing him.
To make it worse two other servants showed their carelessness and nearly damaged some valuable artefacts. Prem scolded at them too and was tired of so much irresponsibility around him. He wanted to terminate all of them.
"Are subhe subhe kyu in saare naukaro ki school lerahe ho?" A jolly Preet walked in. He greeted one of the oldest servants around respectfully and then went towards Prem.
At first Prem scrutinised him with his narrow eyes. "Preet Maan," he put his hands in his pockets. "Let's say how many years has it been?" he made a mental calculation and smirked. "Ten years. What are you doing here?"
Preet also smiled. "Yes it has been ten years but a big personality like you can't be hidden from the world." He shrugged his shoulders, carefree. "Hamara kya hain. Hum jese common log to roze aate jaate hain." There wasn't much response from Prem so Preet decided to get to the point. "Actually I've come here for a special reason." He took out a card from behind. "It's an invitation to my wedding."
The news certainly came as flash news for Prem. He couldn't believe Preet who had been the shiest boy he had known since childhood was actually getting married. It came as a good surprise. He took the card in his hand and briefly scanned it.
"It's not a really big function, only the very close ones have been invited and I would love it if you'd come too." Preet smiled.
Prem thought about it and then checked his watch. "I'll have to check my planner for any free time, for which my PA Ashlesha will inform you." He was disappointed to have wasted fifteen minutes. "You see I'm a very busy man."
This answer was expected by Preet, but still he wanted to try his chances. "I know you're very busy but this invitation is not for a business man, but for that friend who used to be quite close once upon time." A kind of sadness appeared on his face. "So for old times' sake please try and join in with my celebrations." After that he left.
What he said did leave a mark as Prem didn't feel that good. He felt terrible and he hated feeling terrible. With the card still in his hands he moved out towards his car and told the driver to hurry to the office.
From the past two hours Heer had spent decorating the room and finally it was set. She was exhausted and went outside to the terrace again. She remembered how she had seen Prem there few hours ago and her cheeks became flushed. She couldn't believe she was fantasising about a guy she didn't even know. But his eyes had so much passion hidden in them that she wondered how it would be to drown in them forever. The minimal words he had spoken, even though they were out in anger, left his voice flowing in the air. She could still hear it. Then she just lightly tapped her head. "Heer stop being so stupid and falling in love with a stranger." Then she paused thinking what she just said. Could it be possible that she fell in love already? If it was then it certainly felt really good.
Two hours later Preet looked around for Heer and found her outside by the pool. He wondered what she was up to and saw that she was busy cleaning up the flower pot which had crashed. "Heer, tum yaha kya karahee ho?"
Slightly startled to be disturbed she turned towards him, dropping one of the broken pieces. "Bhaiya, I was just cleaning this up."
"You don't need to do that, or wese bhi yeh hamara ghar nahi hain." He went and picked up the remaining pieces. Then he remembered how he forgot to apologise to Prem on Heer's behalf. But then again it was best to not have mentioned it at all. "If Prem finds out you were here then he won't be really pleased."
"But why bhaiya, I haven't come to steal anything and technically this is also our house." She didn't like him being afraid like this all the time. She was also afraid many times but never afraid to fight for the truth.
What she said wasn't false but he also knew that the separation had happened due to Prem's demands so it was best that they respected it. "Right now you won't understand but please come with me and don't come back here without permission." He took her hand and she obliged wanting to know what was the reason behind it all.
The preparations were in full swing as the wedding was tomorrow. The three siblings came and stood in front of their parent's photo frames and just took their blessings. They surely weren't there with them physically but remained always in their hearts. Preet's eyes were moist but both Kulraj and Heer comforted him and assured him they were there for him.
The Juneja co operation office had a relaxed atmosphere that morning since the boss wasn't present. All of them were busy in their casual chats and gossip. Soon the peon came and informed them about Prem arriving so they all rapidly took charge of their stations and sat down in proper manner pretending to have had been engrossed in their work for long. All were well aware of his perception towards hard and concentrated work so if he saw anyone slacking off even for a second he would sack them. There were no arguments with him so they all knew they had to be very careful around him.
He soon sauntered inside, and everyone remained quiet as his powerful personality passed by them. After he was behind the closed doors of his cabin they relaxed a bit and one or two even conferred on how come he was so late today. If any one of them would be late for a minute he gave them a good lecture of being irresponsible and here he himself was late today and that too whole 30 minutes.
As he sat down on his chair he tried to listen to his schedule for the day from Ashlesha but he couldn't. His mind was occupied other places like to the flower pot incident few hours ago. Those eyes he couldn't forget who had captivated him for a few seconds. Who was she? Never before had he thought about a woman before so more than a few seconds but here she wasn't leaving his mind. He hated it to the core. Then there was Preet and what he said about coming to his wedding as a friend. It had been so long since he had communicated with him but Preet still considered him as his friend. He hated it when people made him realise how low he was and how superior they were.
Ashlesha continued with her orating, and finally it went to his ears and he glared at her. "I pay you to do your job correctly, not to get on the edge of my nerves."
She stopped abruptly thinking what she did wrong. She bit her bottom lip and tried to explain. "Sir I was just repeating your schedule for you like every day."
"Well I didn't hear it so do it loud and clear." He demanded giving her the strict look.
Therefore she began again but before that she thought, "Khadoos kahi ka, her baat ko dus baar dohraane ko kehta rehta hain. Kabhi kabhi to mann karta hain ke iska gala hee daba du." She gnashed her teeth together as she got out of her reverie.
"What are you waiting for?" he asked rudely, "unless you want to start looking for another job, you better get to work."
His threats always made her work more efficiently and she began with the narration of the schedule and this time he listened with full ears to her delight.
"Good, organise my meeting with the builders tomorrow evening." Then he paused as he remembered something. "No wait; I would like you to cancel all my meetings from the afternoon."
She obliged but as she left back to her cabin she wondered what made him change his decision. Never before had he ever cancelled a meeting as work was very important to him but here he cancelled a full amount of five meetings.
Even Prem didn't know why he put Preet's wedding invitation before all his work, but he knew one thing was that for once it wouldn't hurt him to show a good gesture towards others. It would increase his image further.
