Chapter er'..the big chapter
Heer was finding it difficult to ignore the girls laughing outside. Why did they need a guard anyway?
Gabbar could have done the job and he would have been polite about it.
But then again, traditional weddings involve gigglers hanging around, so Heer should be happy. So back to the task at hand.
Prem in his ridiculously buttoned up pjs had been the start of a very strange night. The buttons looked glued and riveted on!
"Prem," Heer still looked distracted.
"This is not going to work is it?" Prem had given up.
"Unless'.." Heer peeped out.
"What?"
"Is there another way out of here?"
Prem's eyes widened. He smacked his head, "idiot!"
They cracked the door open. A few metres away the girls were seated on steps just outside the glass pool enclosure. Fortunately the candles had all burned off and the place was dark. Prem and Heer crept along the far wall of the poolhouse, along the pool to the other end. There was a door at the other end. Prem was praying that it wasn't locked. He tried it, it opened. The cool night air had never felt this exhilarating. Stifling a "YAY!" they walked out of the poolhouse and dashed across the lawn to the gate.
Daljeet's place was now very dimly lit. A pair of eyes glowed in the semi darkness. Gabbar. Since he was Heer's friend, he kept silent and walked with them along the side of the house to the back entrance. Heer patted Gabbar gratefully. The kitchen was still occupied with Ramu Kaka and Ash and Sona, all having a post mortem about the day's happenings. Heer looked at Gabbar. Gabbar knew what to do. He took a deep breath and started to growl.
Ramu Kaka came out armed with a broom, while Ash and Sona dashed to their rooms. If Ramu Kaka had been younger, he would have seen Prem and Heer slip past into the house.
Desperate times called for desperate measures. If they were caught now, they were caught. Nothing else to be done, apart from feeling embarrassed. But things were going their way tonight, at least now. They climbed up the stairs, one at a time, like burglars, turned left to the ahem wing and to the far end, to the ahem room. It was empty.
Prem was by now feeling drained with all the hoo haa. Why on earth did they have to creep around like criminals? He was wavering between anger and relief. Not a single romantic thought in his brain.
"Heer,"
Heer on the other hand was completely turned on. They had their room back, their bed back. No gigglers in sight or within hearing distance. And whenever he called her name, it made her heart sing anyway.
"Who's going to help whom now?" Heer was fingering the top button of his top.
"What do you think Estee would have us do now?"
"What? Who's Estee? Have you been getting counselling or something?" Heer looked alarmed.
"No she's that famous romantic fiction writer, I thought you read her books."
"Prem! I'm not in the mood to talk about books now."
"I know that Vandy and Co like me shirtless first. So maybe you should undo these buttons."
"No I think there's a quicker way. Just slip it off. It's as big as a tent!"
"Ok! that was easy."
"Yup, it's really all pretty easy if you will just shut up now and concentrate."
"I think Estee understood me better than you."
"Prem!"
"No I'm just saying. She was always sure how I felt about you, even when you weren't"
"She wasn't writing about us. She doesn't know us!"
"Oh you should read the er'.hot chapters about us."
"Prem, stop it!" Heer was not amused, why in the name of Gabbar was Prem acting weird and talking about a book about them? What book?
As if reading her thoughts Prem produced the book on cue. "I have it here, the book! I was gonna read it before our big night and read it in a few hours yesterday.
"A Book. You need a book to tell you how to make love to me." Heer wasn't asking, just stating what was turning out to be a fact.
"She's fantastic! Every move, down to the last detail. I thought it should be perfect, being our first time and all."
