chp 22

meher – oh pret , u cannot meet my friend, as he has left to London for his further treatment.

Preet – oh, never mind we will meet him again when he returns….. btw what he's name?

Meher (just couldn't understand why is preet asking these many questions?)

Meher – r.j.

Preet – r.j?

Meher - I call him by this name. (She was by now irritated.)

Preet (not happy at all on learning that meher calls this person by a nick name) (are they that close? He couldn't control himself from asking more questions) – was he with you in college? (Actually he didn't like meher running like this for, this r.j & desperately wanted to know more about him.)

Meher – no, (trying hard to keep her cool)

Preet (more worried) than how did you know him?

Meher (this time she gave him a tough look)

Preet (ignored that look) - tell me, were you in a relationship with him? (He tried to sound excited while asking this - to show meher that he was really happy; but the truth was that his heart was on the verge of breaking)

Meher – oh u dumbo! He is already married to my best friend vibha.

Preet – oh! Means he is not your friend but your best friend – vibha's husband. (preet was so relieved, to know this answer his happiness was visible on his face.) (But meher was frustrated with preet's behavior.)

They returned to Delhi, all the way preet was trying hard to cheer meher up! But in vain……

Meher after returning was staying away from preet as she had decided & preet was leaving no chance to be with meher, he was turning more & more possessive for meher.

This time preet made sure that Harman is not even in a distance of 1 meter from meher. He hated the time when Harman knew that meher had left for Mumbai & he didn't.

Meher had stopped taking lunch for preet to the office; so --- preet had started coming home for lunch.

Meher felt that something had changed in preet he didn't give anyone a change to speak with meher. (Situation was almost suffocating for meher; but she somehow loved preet being so close to her.)

Now-a-days preet had actually reduced going to the office & did majority of his work while sitting at home, through emails & video conferences. (Just to make sure that he & only he is near meher, & nobody else.)

Daljeet & ash were very upset with all this, so daljeet thought of a plan……

Daljeet went to bauji & said that now preet has become very successful & have started shouldering his responsibility, & so bauji should think of getting heer married to preet.

Bauji & g3 at first were very shocked at this suggestion of daljeet.

Daljeet – praji, if preet gets married to heer, the promise that u made to heer's father will get fulfilled, & anyways it was because of preet, prem had gone to Mumbai, so preet can definitely do at least this much for prem's love lady. & also heer will finally get some happiness in life.

All the family members looked convinced…. Ash was very happy that now, if she has not got preet, than even meher will not get preet.

Meher heard this & she was very happy that heer will get such a good husband like preet & finally she will have some happiness in her life. & if heer is happy even she can return back home happily & fulfill the promise that she had given to mausam.

Preet heard this he was very sad, angry………….

He couldn't even in his wildest dreams think of marring heer or any other girl than meher..

Chp 23

(Preet was very upset & was standing on the terrace when meher came)

Meher – preet (she hugged him) I am so, so, so happy! Finally heerdi will get some happiness in her life. I am so happy that my sister is getting married to my best friend, & will get a husband who will always make her smile.

Preet did not say anything (he was breaking with each word of meher)

Someone called meher & she left; Leaving, preet alone on the terrace.

Preet sat on the floor, he hugged himself, and he recalled each word of meher….

Preet said to himself – I am just her best friend, & not someone most special. Not more than a friend. How could meher be so happy? He broke down; crying his heart out in the darkness of night.

Heer was reluctant earlier but than agreed, for the sake of family happiness.

When heer agreed preet couldn't refuse her in front of the entire family.

Daljeet & bauji called panditji & fixed the date which was just 3 days later from today.

Everybody was busy in the preparations, now meher was the one in charge of whole preparations, so she hardly got any time to interact with preet.

It was sangeet ceremony…

Meher was dancing & her happiness showed up in her every action…… preet was very angry on this behavior of meher.

That night preet went to his room he couldn't sleep, only meher's face was coming in front of his eyes, he got up, walked back & forth, thinking how he can get control of his life back……… he looked in the mirror….. Looked at him…..

Preet - how can I stop all this…. Tomorrow is mendhi & after that wedding……

(He took out meher's photo from his pocket & said)

Preet - I will get you in my life no matter what…….. You are mine… only mine…… no one can come between us…… even you cannot distance me from you…….

(Then moving his hand over her photo…………)

Preet - I promise, that day isn't far when even you will be madly in love with me & your heartbeats will need me, just like mine needs you ……..

Than turning to prem's photo he said……….

Preet – I am sorry p.b, but I cannot marry heer, I will not be able to give her, her due happiness….. I am madly in love with meher…….. I know that I am being selfish but I am helpless……. Meher is the need of my life……..tears slowly rolling down his cheeks……….

He than thought of a plan………….. Wiped his tears & went to meher's room….

Meher was sleeping…..preet went & sat close to her…… he slowly moved some hairs from her forehead that were covering her face……. He than slowly traced her lips with his fingers & said

Preet – how can you be happy without me………(had a wicked smile on his face)……. You cannot be happy without me……….just like I cannot be happy without you……….. you are going to be mine, just mine & forever…….. & I promise to give you all the happiness of life……

"It was dark meher was walking on the road….. rishabh was calling out from one end of the road…. Meher ……… meher…… meher come back…… meher …… but meher was not listening she just kept on walking…….

Rishabh woke up from the sleep….. vibha heard his screams & came in his room..

Vibha- rishabh, what's wrong?

Rishabh – vibha, I don't know….. I just saw a dream that, meher is going far from us……. I tried to stop her but she didn't listen to me……….. She went …….she went………I am worried what's going to happen with her…. Hope nothing wrong…..

Vibha on hearing this…. Felt that meher is not going to be far from us… but she has already gone far from us……. & now she is on that journey of her life from where she cannot come back & now we can simply watch her but do nothing…..
