She stopped midway as Preet stood up suddenly, flung his pad away and made his way to where she sat making her freeze in shock.
He pulled her up forcefully and dragged her towards the bedroom.
He pinned her against the wall. They stood inches apart from each other. She could feel his unsteady breath against her cheek. Her heart hammered wildly against her chest. His deep penetrating gaze making her go weak in her knees. Minutes passed by, while both of them stood transfixed, lost into each other's eyes.
A wave of cold air gushed into the room bringing them back into reality. Preet tightened his hold on her wrists, twisting them , he turned her around violently making her back hit his chest. Meher shut her eyes in pain and fear.
"Jab maine kaha I wanted to talk to you", his harsh voice broke the long reigning silence, "I wanted to get to know you Meher Mann and not some Sameer Khanna!!!"
She opened her eyes to find herself standing in front of the mirror.
"Main iss ladki ko janna chahta hun, jisse tum iss aayne mei dekh rahi ho, tum chahe apna hairstyle, dressing sense, social culture, puri living kyun na badal lo, tum aaj bhi wahi Meher Mann ho!"
"Tum- tum kehna kya chahte ho", she asked timidly.
Sighing Preet freed her from his clutches, "Sit down Meher, we need to talk", he said calmly.
'I think I'd better be going", Meher hated the way her voice shock revealing her innermost fears to the man standing in front of her.
"Sit down!", Preet repeated more fiercely making it clear that it would be dangerous to disobey.
Exhausted she slumped on to to the sofa.
"Kaha kya kehna chahte ho...I don't think we have any thing to talk about...Mujhe pata hai tum kya karne wale ho", she said.
"Oh achha", one of his brows lifted in sardonic enquiry.
"So you can read my mind, huh?", he said...
"Mind reading has nothing to do with it!...It's quite obvious that Sameer knows nothing about my past life and that could damage me badly if that were all to come out. "And obviously tum issi cheez ka fayda uthana chahte ho..Mujhse badla lene ke liye"
"Badla? he asked as if genuinely suprised...You don't know anything Meher...One things for sure you and I have one hell a lot of unfinished business between us!!"
