hiba!! another one in the prem-heer-fan list! 😃

oder thn tht veer and zara of the film veer-zara coz even though da film got lil boring in da middle buh still overall their love was eternal, i mean both of dem gave up their lives for the cause of da oder😊😊

hmmm, never saw this one. they really did? what did they do? they can't have died, no? 'cause i really think that those who ''kill themselves'' in the cause of love aren't as grand as ... well, prem-heer! who live to keep their love story alive. no? 😍

also i wld like to say devdas and paro coz jus like our premeer they cld feel each oder n tht made me crazy abt dem! even though paro married buh still da last part of da film showed thier love for eachoder, tht how two ppl even though miles apart are still together .... can still feel each oder😳😳😳

*sigh* i didn't watch any of the version of devdas, can you believe it? this is the story where the guy (or his father?) insults the girl and she gets married to someone else, no? btw, does she choose to do this herself -- or was it parental pressure? and then after that, the guy decides to destroy himself (by forsaking his family and drinking and stuff, no?) -- but the girl makes a life for herself, no?

*sigh* love makes people so desperate, no? s'times i wish life was not so difficult, no? *sigh*

Honestly..I'm was not into love stories much...I don't read book except skool buks or novels when required....😆 I remember we were asked to read 'Wuthering Heights' and make a book report about it. I bought the book and it was thick 🥱😆 and so i asked my sis to read it instead and I just read a summary of it from the net...😃😆 I usually do that!...😆

Movies
The Lake House: I love the movie although i didnt understand the ending..😕😆
Veer-Zaara: Premeer kinda reminds me of that movie..i duno why...😆

there are some more i guess...cant remember all right now...😆Oh..cartoons!..fairy tales!..😆 Cinderella is my favorite!...😛

But there is and im sure will be the only love story i will love the most and will always be on top of my list and that is Prem-Heer. I dont think i need to explain why..😍😆

Awesome post Estee !

I'm a sucker for romances...When it comes to love stories and romance fiction, I like most classics..my favorites are Catherine and Heathcliff of Wuthering Heights....but I wish it wasn't so tragic, then Mr Rochester and Jane Eyre, I actually like them better than Cathy and Heathcliff, and my all time fav is Pride and Prejudice.

Oh..I've seen 'Princess Bride' movie and loved it.....another one of the same catagory is Neil Gaiman's 'Stardust'... I've read the book and seen the movie too....it's very much a Prem-Heer kind of love story!

And ofcourse our Prem and Heer...I've never loved any other TV characters as much as them. I can never get tired of them.

Edit add :
My fav list continues :) A walk in the clouds..love Keanu Reeves, You've got mail, French Kiss, Titanic, Notting hill (absolutely love it ), Sleepless in Seattle.

edit end.

bhav!!!! 🤗 btw, i peered into your collections of stories -- man, do you write or what??!

and ya! they were destructive, no? i think they were the only couple i've read of, who fall in love, are told they can't do a thing 'bout it, and then set about demonstrating what explicit destruction they can wreak if they are not allowed to have their way! y'know usually, the couple in question set about destroying themselves/each other. oh, but not heathcliffe and his catherine -- it was such a ''you damn us? well, be damned yourself!'' kinda story. you have to admire that -- much more than those romeo-juliet things, no? besides, i've always been such a sucker for stories 'bout the english moors.... go figure! 😆

Viola and Orsino?! Really?! 🤣 I'm sorry, I just think the relationships in Twelfth Night are weird. Analysing it for Lit in 9th grade made me realise how easily they transferred their affections from one to another, and is that really one of the greatest love stories?

hey, just imho! 😆 as i reply to these posts, i also realise that another shakespearean love story that i like much is beatrice-benedick of ''much ado...'' soooo much nicer than hero and her swain, claudio! maybe i should add that... but what's compelling 'bout viola-orsino was just those twists! is like prem feeling attracted to heer -- even if she was dressed as a guy and he was not gay! no?🤣and i thought the only one who really transfered affections was olivia, no? she was clearly not one for ''true love, holding fast forever after'', no? so no, olivia would definitely not make the cut in this list... but viola?

y'know? i saw this play at the globe theatre in london some years ago. and i had pretty weird seats -- top row, at the end of the circle of seats, placed so that what i was actually seeing was like the play from the back, rather than the front. and yet, as the duke gets coached by viola in how to woo a woman, and there's one part where they have to get close to each other? even from that odd angle, i forgot to breath -- the way the duke gets suddenly confounded, and the way that viola yearns for him, despite knowing that she is throwing her entire identity into jeopardy! wow... that was just ... 😍

I'd actually probably go for Desdemona and Othello. Desdemona was totally in love with Othello (she was probably living vicariously through him), even when Othello doubted her fidelity and called her a strumpet and stuff. (Oh, wait, the strumpet thing was in Midsummer's...Was it?! My Shakespeare's bad. 🤢😆) Kinda like Prem-Heer, wouldn't you say? Except that instead of killing Desdemona...

hmm... othello. i've always been mad at othello. ever since i read the story the first time. my hero in this story is totally iago. man, did he spin the entire set of relationships around his little finger! no depending upon fate or anything. iago controlled everything. and in front of his offended soul, othello, the grand general, the conquering hero, was wiped out. i hate how he (shakespeare) started the story with strong othello, strong desdemona, and sort of demonstrates that after fighting the first battle of love (to get married) they totally gave up and sat down, waiting like sitting ducks in a closed pond to be shot dead by hunter iago. i totally grumped at the lack of long-lasting strength in either character or their love for each other! i dunno. i totally didn't see anything worthwhile in o-d. give me macbeth and his lady anyday.

and btw, strumpet? is possible he called her strumpet. 😆 sound like the kinda thing othello would do, actually... although it sounds more like s'thing in the hero-claudio story... 😆 sounds very shakespearesque.

Prem-Heer are pretty awesome. Their eternal love thingie is just amazing. But I like Meet too. The way they went from friends to more than that...That's something I'm in love with, the idea of progressing from friends to lovers.

ya.. tell me 'bout it. love from different angles... love it. as long as it happens to s'one else! 😆
OOOH! Landon and...um...what's her name...Jamie! Yes! Landon and Jamie from A Walk To Remember! Oh, man, they were just so amazing.

ooh, don't know this! ''a walk to remember'' -- why does it feel like i should know this?? *grumpy muh which is getting grumpier 'cause sleep is suddenly beginning to overcome me... why does that happen? why does one get suddenly sleepy? i want to know... *

A Walk to Remember is a book -- It's like, two entirely opposite characters, one who tells him not to fall in love with her while guessing that he will, and then he falls head over heels for her and gets married to her because that was her one wish before she died, and after that he never loved someone else again...Oh, to have a man like Landon!

hmmm... kinda sounds like ''love story'', too, no? i've read the book -- not seen the movie which i've heard is awesome. the book was quite heartbreaking. *making notes including 'awtr' in my list of books to check out... 😃*
I can't quite think of anymore, but when I do, I shall let you know. 😃
do! i like making lists of movies/books to check out! 😆 'specially on love stories... 😍

and ooooh! i think you will soooo like princess bride! see the movie first. and then get the book. both are charming. to death! seriously! 😃
I remember coming across Wuthering Heights in the library and skimming through it, and the first thing that came across was, man, these two are nuts! 😆 After that never really bothered to read it. I shall though, and definitely going to watch the movie, and read the book! It's always been on my list, but I haven't yet. *makes note*

er... really? *looking around, whistling
nonchalantly and trying to hide my grin...*

Oh shush. *blushes*

*sigh* s'how, i've always been against this whole i'm-gonna-get-suckered-into-the-dark-side 'cause of love theme. that includes stories where people kill 'emselves for love. which is why when i read romeo&juliet, i seriously wanted to grab their two heads and knock 'em together! death is sooooo darned final! which is probably why othello made me angry. what was the use of being such a powerful dude, winning wars and everything, if some sharp meanie can get the better of you using ''luv''? same thing for anakin -- particularly since padme was such a strong character all through (unlike desdemona who started strong and then suddenly went all limp in front of othello!)

which is why i soooo loved the prem-heer shouting match before their (stooooopid, inexplicable! 😡) split. prem roared into heer's face and she just roared right back! i am sure that if prem tried to pull an othello on her, heer would've basically torn his hands off her neck, slapped him and asked him what the heck he was doing, he idiot! and i think padme was like that -- as strong as heer - and prem! but unlike prem (who was just idiotic enough to not know how to check whether he hadsexwithagirl or not) mr. skywalker just had to go whole hog to the darkside, didn't he?? that would've been like prem going to ... ratpal and getting him to get some ministers to pull ig-idiot out of his ambala posting? 😆

Well, the whole Anakin thing I guess why I loved was the way it was expressed in the book rather than the way it was shown in the movie. Episode 2 was bad. Like a really badly made romantic comedy. 😆 And yeah, I was pissed about him falling into the darkside, but I loved how she never lost faith in him, even when she was dying, there was this bit where she tells Obi-Wan that he still had good in him. Because she knew that the reason he fell was because he was trying to 'save' her. That, that struck me.

PremHeer are a league of it's own. There's no couple (that I can think of) that is like them.

😆 i think they're ... okay. 😆 i had a p&p as a metaphor for beauty&the-beast thing written above -- what d'you think of the analogy? if you agree, then perhaps you'll agree that in the list if i have b&tb, then p&p comes a farrr-away second? i dunno -- that's what i feel... *omg! just checked the clock and it's 4am!! no wonder pcp's snoring on the sofa behind me!!!*

I don't know. B&B was good, but I don't remember why, I think it was because Belle was everywhere (when Disney Princesses were mentioned) that I started to think of her as overrated. I haven't seen that in ages. I want to though. Maybe I shall. P&P was a great book, though Lizzie got annoying. I just, come on Darcy was awesome. 😳😆

y'know? i'm a little religious 'bout lotr -- i refused to see the movie. 😆 i love the books so much! and of all the characters in the book, i love aragorn. for me, aragon is soooo wedded to his past, and his duties that i just couldn't take his love story seriously. aragon was... king! king, i tell you. husband/lover/whatever was just sooooooo low priority, it was not funny.

to a certain extent, that was why i don't have either merlin or arthur in this list -- their roles, what they are, define soooo much of who they are, that what they do is all too secondary to give much importance to! *dunno if you like the merlin-king-arthur stories. if you do, have you read the mary stewart books? they are awesome! crystal cave, hollow hills, last enchantment, and a (weak) wicked days*

Oh, I only actually read the books after watching the first movie. All my cousins said that the movie was long, and boring and other adjectives that had me thirsting to see it even more, because I love movies with lavish and fantastical settings. So I watched it, and I loved it, so I immediately borrowed the books from a friend (whom I had once borrowed The Hobbit from, which I could not read through completely) and read through them in a matter of a few weeks I think, maybe less. Aragorn and Arwen's love story, while not so prominent, just bore some weight on the rest of the story, everything else.

Hmm, you don't even want to know my thoughts on Merlin and Arthur things. I've never read any Merlin stories, and doubt I ever will. After watching the TV show, Merlin (which is so far from what people say about it) I doubt I'd ever be able to see anything in that range again. 😆 If you're interested in knowing my views on that, let me know. I shall PM you. Bhav knows some of it. 😆

and imho, quite unique no? or perhaps everyone is doing it these days?

It was unique, and so meaningful, he was so deeply concerned about what effect it would have on them if they ran away together, I mean if they ran away, someday she might feel bad about leaving her family like that, the ramifications it would have on all of them. It was sweet, and respectful, and so utterly (what's that word) confident in their love.

*exasperated muh* one night, put your sister to sleep early and then tuck down with a pair of headphones and just see it! i've been hearing that line too often now! *more exasperated muh thing* 😆

I shall, someday. I think we have the DVDs somewhere. And my dad would watch it with me. That's for sure.

have you seen beauty and the beast?? belle rocks!

I guess, she was one of the most awesome Princesses out there. One of the few that fought back, that stood up for herself.

never read this -- what should i be looking out for?

See, it's about this girl that gets transformed (I don't remember how) into an old lady, and there's this wizard (Howl) who is supposedly killing women or something. Anyways, so she's scared stiff of him when she's a young woman, but when she gets transformed, she winds up working for him, and along the way, I don't remember when, she realises she's fallen in love with him. Mind you, she still thinks he's a killer then. It was awesome. Like, seriously. The animation film that was made was weird. So look for the book.

gosh, never seen 'em. will i find 'em if i look for 'em in bookstores today? or should i just work on libraries?

btw, one of pcp's mom's favourite childhood love stories (and she's got three editions of the book in the library here!) was ''daddy long legs'' -- which i read this afternoon. it was ... cute. i mean, cute in a way that kinda touches your heart. more of the social differences between boy and girl thing. coupled with age. and some undesired gratitude things... and well, veerrrry cute! 😆 read it! and as i wrapped up on it, i wondered -- would it actually work to have hc and ag playing the main roles in this book? hmmmm....

Oh, that, hopefully you'll find a few in the libraries. Bookstores tend not to have them. Trust me, I know, I've been looking for a lot of them. There are a total of about 62 books in the series, I've only managed to get 12. 😆 Not so much romance rather than school-girl, old English stories. Some of the books are set during the second world war as well. It's good.

Ooh, Daddy Long Legs is a fun read, very very cute. Oh, oh, that would be awesome! They would so be able to carry it off as well.

i'm not getting married to a book. i'm gonna spend my whole life earning money so that i can spend my whole retirement with a whole library full of 'em! 😆 oooh, and also money to hire a superlative cook (like pcp's mom) who can make me pistachio ice-cream whenever i want...
😍

er... is that even more disturbing? or less?

Oh, oh, that sounds awesome! I'd rather do that too. But I think I'll have to get married, someday. *pouts* The family insists. But I'd make sure the guy is a reader, so he won't mind me reading a lot. And writing. (Not disturbing at all!)

btw, didn't you mention once upon-a-long-time-ago-when-we-first-met that you wanted to marry a guy who could talk like prem, walk like prem, look like prem, look at you like prem? didn't we actually once write out a scenario of you giving instructions to your harried mom when she tries to find a groom for her daughter-the-bride? 🤣 or do i have the wrong andhara13? 😆

Oh shush, that was from before! Before I hated Prem. And way before i had EPE. 😆 Granted, if I had a guy like Mayank and Prem, and Preet combined. *fans self* Now expectations have gone way up high. The guy shall have to
look like Mayank, and have his brains, look at me like Prem, have his intensity, and have Preet's mischeivousness. 😳😆

Love,
Radz

Hiya E! 😛
Is this how you apologize for being morose...and bratty or should I be waiting for more?? 😉
I love this list...!!
But I must say that you left off P&P! The Colin Firth wala....oooh! I so love Mr. Darcy!! And did you mention DDLJ somewhere??? Of course I love that story too!
I must mention Mughl-E-Azam....I had not seen that movie until quite recently and I really did like it...! And that is saying something, because sad endings make me depressed for days on an end!! I cry and wallow in great misery before I can pull myself out of it..so I generally stay away from stories that end sadly! Yeah...it is true!!
Speaking of sad stories..the movie Ghost is to be mentioned. I still cry when I see that movie and I really liked the story there too.
**edit**
Oh, I just read through all your comments (I confess I do that...coz I love the way you write..😉) and I needed to add a few things!
Totally agree with you on Gone with the Wind! My god...I never understood Scarlett. I read the book and watched the movie...but **shaking head sadly** The only thing I really liked was that Clark Gable made a fine Rhett Butler 😳!!
Devdas was a nice concept...but story wise didn't do much for me (that sad ending theory acting up)
Special mention - I love Parineeta! I haven't read the book...will do one day...but adored the movie. Have you seen it? **sigh**
**edit end**
So there you have my list...a little hatke from yours...! 😉 Of course we all agree on Prem Heer..🤔
See ya later. Oh...and your PCP is so much sweeter than you are! How nicely she apologized for demanding I put up the next update!😆
But I love you both! 🤗

Another of my fav is that of drm ahmer and drm zoya from a serial dhoop kinarey ... I was a kid when the serial was aired but it intrigued me ... A young chulbuli doctor falling in love with a 34-35 year old boss who meant business made for a great watch, nit to mention the guy playing ahmer had that manly husky voice that I am a sucker for, I guess ever since I was a kid

Edit add: just to make it clear i was never into romance really i always loved action stuff more until my eyes fell on Premeer so for me no one can be better than them anyways 😆

@ bold.Nadia..u also love Dhoop kinarey?... Oh its a pleasure to hear this.. You know i have watched that drama atleast 30 times, and i remember each and every dialogue of that drama by heart.. U can just name thhe scene and i will tell u the exact dialogues.. Still i love watching it and enjoy it everytime i watch it... I have cd of that drama with me..And my whole family just loves it...esp, me , my cousin and my mother.. sometimes, we used to just watch the drama and finish it in one day.
And offcourse Premeer are my top fav..they are just the best...No words to describe them..
Another of my fav lov story is one, which i think none of you would know about it... Its an Urdu novel by a Pakistani novel writer Umaira Ahmed"AmarBail"...It is just amazing, beyond words.. Although it is very tradgic in the end.. but i just love it.. although a drama had also been made on it, but it was pathetic..it ruined the whole beautiful story..
