ummm am i the only idiot who thinks there's nothing great about DDLJ as a love story??? I mean as a movie it was cute and all but there was nothing extra ordinary about it as a love story ... quite commonish in my POV.

E, would you believe I have never read Wuthering Heights? I should go and read that now. And I have never seen Princess Brides. Should watch that too.

Oh, Han Solo and Princess Leia are most definitely on my list. *grin* I would add Anakin and Padme, though I didn't quite like Episode 2, the book was better. Whoever wrote it delved into the mindless scenes and added depth, so that would go on the list. I mean, he went all dark-side for her. I loved the fact that he loved her so much, he would sell his soul for her. Of course, he ended up killing her, but still.

I know, technically, Elizabeth and Darcy are not the 'greatest' of love stories, but after doing that for Lit last year, I love them too. They're realistic in a way, and the intensity of Darcy's feelings for her, always gets me swooning. I loved the book more than either of the versions that were filmed. I guess words hold closer to me than pictures. Heh.

Another fictional couple I loved, in the bookverse anyways, though Viggo and Liv looked amazing together, would be Arwen and Aragorn. I don't precisely know why I love them so much, but I do. They were ready to sacrifice everything for each other. I loved that she gave up immortality for him. It was utterly romantic, in the book. The movie was more cheesy.

Just watched DDLJ, and what I loved most was that Raj did not want to just run away with Simran, he wanted her family to be okay with it. That was my favourite thing about that love story.

Never managed to finish the Matrix, always got sidetracked, and my sister hates those types of movies. Erm, lesse, what else is there that I think is splendid. Besides PremHeer, that one is obvious.

Disney stories always annoyed me after a period of time, almost all of them had the girl being so helpless and having to be rescued by a man. *frowns* I hated it.

How would you react if I added Sophie and Howl from Howl's Moving Castle to the list? I loved the book. I mean, she was transformed into this old hag, and still they managed to fall in love, despite her thinking he was a murderer and whatnot. It was just so utterly unbelievable. I loved it.

I have a whole list of books that I've read, where the love stories are the kind that just wow the reader, and stick with them. Like the Chalet School series, which is so old, my mother used to read them as a child. Jem and Madge were a cute couple, though Joey and Jack were cooler I think. No wonder their kids were crazy. But I digress. These are not the 'greatest love stories', not from these other books.

But the first few I mentioned, all personal favs. And you'll notice I love books. Like so much. If books were a guy, I'd marry it. And that is disturbing.

Love,
Radz

i think i'm good. but since getting back home in may, i think that i have had zero time to myself. tends to get my brain all scrambled if i can't get some time to put the day's thoughts in order. 😆 i'm silly like that.... and is that ''crazy things'' along the same lines as your calling your vms not good in the olden-golden days of the phhandooh-at#1? if so, stop it at once! 😆

YAY! 😃 I'm glad I have another person who sees what I mean...it's one of the few movies know by heart! 😳 The dialogues I mean! 😳 *hides face* No one else sadly likes this movie as much as I do...otherwise I'd have movie nights! 😛 ahhh I still need to see the P&P movie...😛

really?? i think it was one of those movies that changed everyone's attitude to hindi movies, no? pre-ddlj, hindi movies were uncool. post-ddlj, hindi movies were not considered so uncool?

and btw, the rate at which mom sees the movie, i know every frame -- even though i haven't the dialogues in my head. hindi and i aren't that good friends.. 😆

actually, for me, the highlights of the movie were mostly before the interval. remember the moment that they are leaving each other in the station, and simran invites raj for the wedding? raj just looks at her, but smiles when he says that he will not come? omg. that was just so ... unbelieveably perfect, no? i mean, he's not staking a claim on her anything. but there's just enough there for her to understand exactly what he means! that single moment was worth the ticket price.

and then, when she is describing how she understood she is in love, to her mom. even though she had no clue - until the very last moment that they were walking away. *siiiiiggggh!* that was totally romantic.

No problem! 😃😳 I can imagine...specially with the detailed explanation for Princess Leia & Han Solo! 😆

heh. that was from imdb.com.... i just changed the colours. i didn't have the whole thing in my head -- just the part from ''scoundrel!??! scoundrel... i like the sound of that.'' omg! i sooo loved that part.... ☺️

Sadly...that's a very common phrase used nowadays...any idea on the singer or something? 😳

er... nope, not a clue. but hey, that phrase ''tum hi ho'' was like in every sentence! and if it helps, the video had shahid kapur dancing on it? *one guy who has changed my mind about the idea that it's stooopid to dance to music -- he does it with such flair!!!*

Course I am! 😃😳 It's besides the fact that I haven't done one for awhile! 😆 My last one was a Romeo one on Prem and Preet! 😳 *sighs*

prem and preet??!! omg! where is it??!

Thank god! everyone else LOVES the prince and I was like....eh? I rather have the beast! 😳

er... 'kay. you can have the beast. but we're sharing, right?

*shudders* Yes...I remember that scene...I did love the tenderness in it though! 😳 *sighs*

ya... that last gruff way in which he says ''you're welcome...''' ooooh, 😍

*shudders again* YEs...that's EXACTL what it was...Prem scared me more than the beast though....as sad as that sounds! 😆 Maybe cus I didn't expect that from him! 😔

i... was open-mouthed as i watched it. i'm not sure i fully understood what to feel. but now that i read what you wrote -- i totally agree 'bout prem vs. the beast in such a scene. we always knew the beast was a brute. but prem?

in a certain twisted way, what reduced the shock was that it was heer opposite him.

what i think made that scene truly horrible was that it was in such a open, unprivate place -- did you think so too? i think that if they'd been roaring like that in the same kind of open, lonely setting as they had when prem-heer had their ''who is sanjana'' confrontation, this confrontation would've been not as scary, not as ... wrong?

beeee!!! is okay. according to my pcp, some things are totally not worth unreserving spots on! she says that i should be grateful people even took a look. *sigh* yes, she's a totally tough taskmaster when she thinks i'm being a goofball..

and ooh, your results got out, no? all rocked?

Anyway, you've covered almost all the love stories that I have on my list. Although I have to ask, Macbeth?! Really?! I guess the love story in that kind of got diluted for me with Macbeth's and Lady Macbeth's actions. Personally, I loved 'Bubble bubble toil and trouble...' 🤣

what was not on my list that's on yours? tell, tell!

😆 well, i can see that macbeth is making a few other's raise their eyebrows too. but what i thought was amazing about macbeth was that it is such a testosterone drenched story, no? old king. virile deputies who actually win the wars. dark scottish castles. dungeons. knives. blood. and in all that mess, there is one woman - bold, beautiful, bewitching! and even though she had pretty tiny part of the story, she and macbeth came across as sooooo one, donchya think? 😃 the love story just cannot be denied in the middle of the rest of the mayhem. i liked that...

(let's just skip the jugni-wanna-be's stirring the cauldron for a moment, shall we? i was always convinced that those witches were quite ... genderless! 🤣)
But yes, I suppose I would add DDLJ, it's one of my favourite Hindi movies of all time. *sigh* Oh, and P&P. Hmm.... now I have an urge to go and see Colin Firth... *sigh*

actually, i kinda *looking around to check that smits is not around* liked m.macfayden's depiction of darcy rather better. but admittedly, it was a close call. c.firth did have his ... moments. 😆 what used to bug me 'bout p&p was the whole contrast between the daughters! never quite liked that -- and so, after a while, elizabeth's attitude to darcy would mostly make me want to smack her across the top of her head. she who was always sooo aware of scoiety - was sooo selectively blind to darcy's? *sigh* somehow... it always looked to me like the story was being setup to laugh at the girl in the end... maybe i need to go back and read it again? 😆

and ddlj? *sigh* what a sweetheart of a movie...
