The rain poured heavily tip tapping on the sidewalk that she stood on. Covering her head with her jacket, she shivered as the chill spread through her body. She stood alone, the road deserted, not a single car drove past. She couldn't go back home, not after everything that had happened, not after everything she had had to endure in that hellhole. Her life was now about her and her only. Protecting herself was the number one priority.
All of a sudden, her eyes caught the sight of a distant light. 'Yes!!' she thought, extending her arm and putting her thumb out. 'Please stop, please stop' she muttered, as the car drew nearer and nearer, the light causing her to squint her eyes.
No luck, the driver paid no attention and drove off speedily. 'What an a**!!' she shouted after the car, not like it would do any good. Stepping into a big muddy puddle she swore under her breath.
'Don't I have enough problems??!! These were my only jeans!! URRRRGH!!' she shouted, trembling as the rain showered more rapidly. Her hands felt numb and were beginning to turn purple.
'Are you okay ma'am?' a voice pierced through the air, causing her to turn her head around so fast that she almost felt she had sprained her neck. She stared at the man sitting comfortably in the car. 'What the?? This guy came out of nowhere!!' she thought.
Apprehensively, she opened her mouth to speak. 'Ummm, yes, I ummm...needed a lift...' she stammered.
'Where to?' he asked simply.
'ummm...Mumbai' she answered.
'Get in. I'm going that way too.'
'Really?? Ok, thank you, I really appreciate it' she said quickly, pulling her backpack off her shoulders and taking a seat at the back of the Mercedes car. 'This guy looks well-off, look at his car- my goodness, look at the suit man!!' she thought as she sat comfortably in the warm leather seats, However, an odd inkling of fear spread through her body, causing her to shudder.
'Am I doing the right thing by getting a lift from a strange man that I don't even know? What if he tries something with me!! No, no, he looks alright; I don't think he'd do something like that!! Bagwaan, protect me please, you're the only support I have now!!' she thought, closing her eyes and letting her head fall back on the headrest.
Unknown, two eyes were watching her from the rear-view mirror.
