is really early here. couldn't sleep cause my side hurts - thank goodness for painkillers! but then couldn't go back to sleep cause of .. uh.. okay.. prem things. since my health-gaurds are still gently snoring, i sneaked in here - mostly to vent. but i bet you wont be able to guess who am most angry with.
am playing catch up with last week as well and wanted to put the really big things down:
* photography thing: gosh, desparately loved heer-in-deep-red against everything else in b&w! that entire sequence was brilliant. and this is one thing that has been continually brilliant in this show - i hope these photographers are getting paid well... another one that i loved was heer-in-blue when prem's birthday wish tape comes on. omg! a moment when prem says wait, and there is a shot of heer's feet gentling into stillness. when prem says "today im prem juneja, youre heer maan, tomorrow we are prem, you will take my name" and there's a shot of heer hugging the edge of the door/window-shutter, her face lit by secret smiles and desires, and then a shot of her hand slowly going up the wood... something just melted down inside me... beautiful..
* ag thing: omg! she is brilliant! i keep wondering whether it is that there is less prem and so she gets more things to say, more time to shine. but then i realised that there's been a hell of a lot of prem this last week anyway - and that he still has most of the dialogues. but ag! it's just her face and her eyes and very little voice and - oh, she is incredible! i've always thought that she is terrific at playing heer - just the right mix of mind-numbingly meek&mild and fiesty-with-prem. but now?
for me, the highlight of the entire show so far has now become that moment in heer's room when lalit juneja is persuaded to call her down to attend the funeral ceremonies: that scene was unspeakably moving. the best thing: how just before, heer had been madly scrambling the wood off the pyre and shouting - full throated at him to get up! and now she stands - body and backbone ramrod straight, eyes open wide and staring - as if shutting them would be the same as letting down the gaurd to keep the world out of her head - the knowledge that she will not admit - as much as we will not admit it! - that prem is not there.
* big thing: it was what she said then that re-kindled the slow fire of anger in me. i'd said in my last wtf that that stooopid prem-last-scene was like we were being presented with prem being faced with a choice - live life happily but also with fear that he may not always have heer, or die now giving up on both the sorrow and the joy? well, i fiercely loved what heer said in answer to lalit juneja's "but he didn't have a choice". she said: "so, prem has the right to make promises, but not the ability to fulfil them? prem said he would live life with me, but not the ability to come and fulfil that vow?" and i got mad at prem. very very slowly. but surely. i am angry with prem.
* little thing: who else laughed suddenly through tears when heer waved her hand grandly and said: "go downstairs bauji, you're not well"!!!! 🤣 although she was her typically sweet-contrite self when she immediately after said: "if i made you cry, i'm sorry." heer! so badly wanted to wrap her and take her away from that ridiculous family and even all memories of prem! dang the guy!
* little thing: another courier guy with attitude! someone is a fan of courier guys in this show... 😆
* big thing: my anger exploded into a full-blown one in that insane, violence-filled lalit juneja-preet scene. at first, the anger was at the standard lalit juneja trick of finding someone else to shoulder the responsibility. poor darling preet. who already took on the responsibility of his mother. and his bhabhi. now has to face the lalit juneja need to dump on someone. 😠poor poor darling preet. so badly want to see that smile of his again...
but it took me less than one minute to shift the focus of my anger: this was all actually prem's fault! prem, the perfect son. who has always stolidly taken whatever nonsense that lalit juneja has dumped on his head. who has been the wall behind which everyone has sheltered to do their own thing. it's prem's fault that preet is still such a baby. that harman is so insensitive to little things. that lalit juneja thinks that his old-fashioned cavalier attitude is justified. that gayatri-mom is lying comatose in grief. it's all his fault. it is! 😡
and did he mean to be at heers singing party - even if he was alive? hed better have been - wouldve been a really mean thing to do otherwise? (and gee, what a boorish clientele that fancy restaurant have! never seen such ill-mannered people before in my life! 😡 more anger building up...)
and my anger became as much of a furnace as the fire prem is sitting in, when i saw yesterday's show: what the heck is he going on about?? begging forgiveness from his parents? still giving orders to his siblings? and then! of course! the last unforgiveable act! giving orders to heer!! wha........?!!! (good thing exclamation marks are on the left side of the keyboard.. else this would have taken a really long time to write... 😆)
and i remember the last time he talked of "comfortable lives with others" and "having children" etc - that was the night before his wedding to sahlesha. and i remember thinking that he was such a bull-poooper at that point. and that's what i thought again yesterday -- man, what a load of bullpoop! giving orders to his soulmate to go out and have children with others... and i remember being in the craziness of the crash, and coming back to a painful world of confusion and mayhem. and a total sense of zero control over anything at all.. and never once did i think "oh, my mom. what'll she do without me? i wish you'll go out and adopt a kid to replace me, and have fun with." really! 😡 that was a totally unreal thing for prem to have said. and i'm waiting for them to damn well take it back!
* hc thing: did anyone else get the sense that hc is "out of prem"? anyone else get the idea that he is now in the mind and heart of another character? 😕 i did. and that character is not stolid or stoic or intense or focussed like prem is? that character laughs and acts cute. no one else got that? and the place that was most strong was in the prem-heer flashback where she is telling him of her fear of singing in front of a crowd: the way he stood back against the door, the way he reacted to her asking him what he meant... it was ... *sigh* kinda not prem.. maybe it's just me. but hc made me miss prem. prem was there... but not there.
* prem thing: but prem did come back in two places! 1. when he leaned in against the door into heer and his gaze locked onto her ... uh ... um... 'kay... lips. 😆 2. dancing in the rain, when their faces are close, both heer and prem are smiling at each other - wait! khushi's got this one up! here!

aaaaaaiiiiiiiiieeeeeeee!!!!! *need to focus - have already lost too much of my life passed out recently to want to do more of that. but man! this is soooooo much a better thing to pass out on than a head wound! 😆*
and of course, the quintissential prem thing -- a little water fall off the point of that perfect hc-jawline in the rain. *man, i hate prem!*

* prem thing: prem talks too much! i remember thinking that first when prem confesses his love to heer -- even then, even though all the lines were sooo very beautiful, i thought - man, this guy talks a lot! draw a breath, guy! seriously, i love the hc voice but prem does go on and on and on sometimes, doesn't he?? definitely the lalit juneja part in him showing up! 😆 and did i actually hear hc turning pages at some point?? 🤣 those monologues are unnatural... seriously...
* preet thing: his name is sushant singh and he is very good! when preet was under attack (there's no other way to put it 😡) and then after, when kul-di's asking him to look at her, that lalit juneja loves him, ... that scene with the siblings was terrific.
* big thing: did anyone else think that - for all that the performances were so brilliant - the misery got drawn out a little too long?
* little thing: uh... just how did the dvd-guy know where to bring the "last dvd of prem"? 🤣
* big thing: this show is terrific! i've had the chance to see some of the other stuff on tv. and honestly, even though they are produced much better 😠the story and - most importantly - the characters are ridiculous. hmmm. kay, more ridiculous than this show has. 😆 and definitely more tired and more boring. this show rocks.
and i'm w&w to see how they are going to bring prem-heer back together again.. cause we all know. this storys about prem-heer-are-one. wonder what they are going to do next.... ow... this has taken long to type.. my arms aching.. my sides aching... most importantly, i hear the mother stir. she is gonna kill me if she finds me on the machine. let me go fake some r&r. 😆
