I believe the saree to Milind was a reason to be tied with her the fact that he wanted to do something for Prachi keeping his past behaviour in mind n her endurance he felt guilty to the core n decided to give his relation a shot. I think it signifies his repentence n the fact that he wants to be with her now. 😊
