Talking to the visual medium
| ||
I play Saket in Kayamath, who is Neev's brother. Saket is shy and lacks confidence but still has a comic side to his character. Though he is not so prominent right now on show, but with time, he will go through a transition and come to the forefront.
Since you're an RJ, how did the role come to you?
Acting was always my first love. I went for auditions and got selected. Moreover, people at BIG FM have been very supportive. They never created hassles for me.
you relate to the character you play?
In real life, I'm a very robust person while Saket lacks confidence. But somehow I still relate to him because I was like that in my school days. I think everyone can relate such a guy at some point of their life.
You're doing a prime-time slot on the FM station and a TV show too. How do you balance the two?
Earlier, I was hosting the morning show but after I started shooting, I host Evening Drive which is a two-hour show. And since I am not playing the lead, I get time to devote to RJing.
How is Balaji Telefilms to work with?
Balaji are a good paymaster but they make you work so hard. It's between the shoots that I prepare my script for the evening show. So, it gets a little difficult but it's good to work with the production house.
How did the interest in acting and RJing develop?
Acting was always on my wish list. I was involved with theatre since my college years. I've won a eight awards as Best Actor and came to Mumbai with the same dream. But on my fourth day here, I auditioned for radio and got selected. I think theatre is important for every performer. It's not food for stomach but for soul. |
