There are good moms like Tulsi, Parvati and Prerna… who are worshipped and bad moms like Payal, Jigyasa and Mandira….who are abhorred for their malicious deeds. But it is this convincing act of the later fraternity that gives enough proof of the strong impact they have on the TV audience. And joining the gang of popular vicious moms on the tube is actor Sajni Srivastav who, as Niharika, is creating havoc in the love story of Neev and Prachi in Star Plus' Kayamath. Sajni has been in this industry since a long time. She debuted on the TV front with a Zee show Parampara and later on went to feature in Kahiin Jiya Jale Kahi Dil, Chandan Ka Palana, Aparijita, Piya Ka Ghar and Kya Hoga Nimmo Ka. These days, she is being seen in Ek Chabi Pados Mein and Kayamath and it is with this Balaji show that Sajni has gained a firm foothold. The actor, known for her negative act and venomous looks (stark black eye shadow) gets candid about her shows and life. Excerpts Your character Niharika in Kayamath has become very popular. What kind of feedback are you receiving? People recognize me at public places and come forward to tell me how much they appreciate my act. But they also hate me for not being fair to my son Neev (played by Jay Bhanushali). That reflects the success of the character. Does Sajni relate to Niharika? I don't relate to her. She is too shrewd and stubborn and I am the opposite in real life. How did you bag this role? I remember, it was in the middle of the night at 2.30am I received a call from the production house. They gave me a brief narration of the role and next day I was on. All actors fear being typecast once their character becomes a hit. Do you think henceforth you'll be offered only vampish roles? I don't think playing negative in one show will generate only negative role offers. I am doing a goody-goody role of Kavita in Ek Chaabi Pados Mein.
Your eye make-up in Kayamath has become your trademark. Whose idea was it? That's the creative team's input. It was incorporated from day one. Initially, the feedback wasn't good but now people like it. It adds to my viciousness in the show.
How is it working with newcomers like Jay Bhanushali and Panchi Bohra? Jay is very cute to work with. Panchi is also nice. As newcomers they are excellent. I had been a novice once, so I can relate to them. Kayamath or Ek Chaabi Pados Mein? I enjoy both the shows as I get to do a variety in terms of acting. There's no point comparing both. Tell us about your personal life? I am married to an ad film maker Samir Shrivastav, who's launching his own film for which the casting is on
