Opti Akka, hard-hitting real life like stories are often received like this. I guess most of us want to live in a dreamland where it's all nice and gay- while real life is always a mix of things.

I appreciate that you were brave enough to attempt something like this. At the end of the day, you have touched some deep pain (Prachi), sacrifice (Neev), height of goodness (Milind) and the beautiful human bonds the characters have shared.

thanks

Part 11

(i) Oh my god, this was totally unexpected…and we all thought Neev was such a selfish guy…man I feel so bad for him…and now meeting him, milind is in a deleima…but I guess he will tell Prachi the truth…

(ii) This is soo sad, happy that she has finally said it that she has fallen in love with her husband….she thinks that his happiness lies within someone else…only if she knew…and now since Prachi wants to leave…Milind will tell her Neev's truth…sooo many twists opti…

(iii) My heart goes out for Milind, Prachi's words have hit him hard…its true that lending a sperm doesn't really make a man the father…I completely agree with this…poor Milind…I hate to see him like this…and at the same time I feel bad for Neev too…he is all happy that Prachi is alive…only if he knew that he doesn't have the same place in his heart anymore…wonder if Prachi will tell him the truth and its him that will bring milind and Prachi together

Thanks for the update opti, going to read part 12 now…sorry for my veryyyy late comments…its the end of semester…and sometimes I get overloaded…

Shubs, I wouldn't claim my fic is realistic. There is a lot of fantasy involved in a situation which is quite realistic. Not many men may act the way my Milind or my Neev did. Why I would say that 99.9 per cent men may not act that way. But I wouldn't rule out that 0.1 per cent who could act this way because none of us know the entire population of this world well enough to know that for a certainty.
There is a different purpose for taking up this theme. In our society we always condone several things if done by a man but do not accept the same if it is done by a woman. For instance I have read here FFs in which Milind lives a fast life, even bedded women, not out of compulsion, mind you, but out of choice. That seemed quite acceptable but when it comes to Prachi she has to be this untouched virgin. If she is not, then Milind also is not untouched (maybe a widower or a divorcee). So the equation was like this:
Virgin Milind for virgin Prachi
Wordly (read not virgin) Milind for virgin Prachi
Wordly Milind for wordly Prachi
All these three combinations are acceptable
But when it comes to the combination of Virgin Milind for worldly Prachi then our minds face stiff resistence even if Prachi's 'wordliness' is more circumstance driven than something she gladly indulged in.
Well, I am not here to change the way people think as every individual has the right to think of himself/herself. As a writer I am only exploring this unchartered territory.
This story does not in any way convey my view on pre-marital relations. I personally believe that virginity should apply to both the man and the woman. I cannot regard a man who sleeps around very highly or manly. In fact to me he is a weak man who cannot reign in his primal needs. But then that is my personal view. I will not mix that with the fic I write.
Who knows, tomorrow I may even write about a Milind who slipped up. But then I will not justify it. I will call a spade a spade although I will give the circumstances for it if any as I did here. I had never justified Prachi's act but I did give the circumtances for it. I made Prachi herself admit not only to herself but to the man she loves in the present and man she had loved in the past her own short comings. But I dont believe in condemning the sinner just because I condemn the sin. Everybody needs a second chance and in my fic Prachi did too and what a chance she got!
At the end of the day my fanfics are just that - pure fantasy fics but I try to give some message in my own small way. There may be some who may accept it but many who may not. But then as I said, I am not here to change the world.

Part12

(i) Even if Prachi knowns the truth, she guess she still wont able to go back to neev since she loves milind…I'm glad that Milind has decided to fight back…it so true, how can he hand over the two precious persons of him life…but his reaction at the end was totally surprising…never thought he would punch Neev like that…

(ii) It was a dream…lol…im glad that he didn't punch him..let go of ur love Milind…she will surely return…happy that Milind was near by and heard Prachi's confessions…im glad that milind will confront Prachi about Ayesha…and I guess that neev will sacrifice his love…seeing how much Milind and Prachi love each other…and how much Milind loves sahana

(iii) Neev turned out to be a true gentleman…he loves Prachi and even then let go…because her happiness lies with Milind…I hope he gets his share of happiness has well…Happy that both Milind and Prachi came to know about their feelings for each other…

(iv) I found that super cute…Milind covering Sahana's eyes while he kissed Prachi…the date was very funny and cute,,,Sahana is an excited little girl…I understand prachi's feeling…but just like Milind said…he has fallen in love with her..not her body…and its best for the past to remain in the past…and opti this part was not boring at all..i enjoyed it very much

Thanks a lot for the ff….this ff was quite different but u managed to pull it off nicely…thanks once again

Epiloque

(i) Wow opti…15 and half years later…u made Milind and Prachi very old…lol, but I guess you will want Sahana to find out about Neev…and I guess she is old enough to face the truth…wonder how she will take it…the dress part was very nice…Milind didn't scream at her…but explained her…he is such a good father…

(ii) Happy that Neev have got his share of happiness…and neha seems to a be a very nice and loving wife…so its going to be the Shergills and the Mishras face to face after 15 years…

(iii) Katrina kaif….LOL…that part was hilarious…and Neev gaining weight and Milind not recognizing him, lol...So they will finally tell her the truth…I hope she takes it in a nice/positive way...

Thanks opti, eagerly waiting for the next part

I ended up having my Prachi with a past and making her the first woman in Milind's life in one of my fics too. That was also for the same reason that I wanted a virgin Milind to accept a mother of a child Prachi. My fic was not as hard-hitting as this one, as I tried to use the more romantic infatuation to a celebrity theme!

I also believe in having a single partner and don't support unwed pregnancies. However, though Prachi was an unwed pregnant here, what hits me is her pain. We can question her sleeping with Neev, but before that we have to question Inder, Amrita, Aalaap and all those who tortured her inhumane. If Prachi was from a normal family (poor or rich doesn't matter) and still slept with Neev before wedding for the sake of it, I would have questioned her.

So, given Prachi's background, what strikes me is the pain she went through. That pain is more than her so called mistakes. Milind too reacted to that pain, just living the spirit of humanity.

What I meant "realistic" in this fic is not necessarily the plot. It's more the way characters were guided by love and kindness which does happen in life where we end up doing things beyond rationalization in love.

It probably goes without saying our society is patriarchal largely and yes since women have to bear the practical consequence of a physical relationship between a man and woman, they end up facing the burden while men walk away without scrutiny. No wonder our societies were formulated by the likes of Manu who never did justice to women.

I would say that women are their own worst enemies Shubs because how many mothers teach their sons to see the fairer sex as their equal, how many mothers-in-law look at their daughters-inlaw as their daughters and how many daughters-in-law are willing to let their sons fulfil their duties towards their parents? So it is all warped I guess. Even in the more progressive societies women are not strictly treated on par with their male counterparts. Anyway those are larger social issues. My fic may have touched on some sensitive issue but essentially it is a love story - not only about a man and a woman but about a man and a daughter who is not biologically his.

I personally have seen mothers who would ask their daughters to do the house chores, but if sons do it, they would say "oh you are a guy, you shouldn't be doing it". I guess men and women are blindly following the rules of patriarchal society though equations are changing- very slowly. Both men and women need to be educated!
