I love the name of Michi's late daughter- Kshama...I guess that is why youve named your FF 'Forgiveness'....Isn't it?!

I was getting worried cos I don't know Hindi and I was beginning to worry if it really meant Forgiveness. I was stuck for the daughter's name, so I had to google Hindi baby names. Found Kshama and it just seemed the perfect fit for the title also. 😊Im looking forward to reading it...!

Ayesha took a closer look at Prachi. Her face bore the traces of a sleepless night. But before she could question her about it, Neev walked into the room. "Ayesha, where is my wallet?", asked Neev. "Probably, where you left it.", said Ayesha. "Yes, but where's that?", asked Neev, looking a bit blank. Exasperated, Ayesha got up and searched in the drawers. "Here!", she said, as she handed him his wallet. "What will I do without you?", asked Neev, kissing her on the cheek. "Marry the first pretty thing, you lay your eyes on." retorted Ayesha. Just then they were interrupted by Sumit. "Papa, don't want shoe!", complained Sumit as he lifted up his right foot. "Okay, lets take it off.", said Neev as he bent down to untie the shoe lace. That earned him a hard hit on the arm from Ayesha. "That hurt!", he complained, rubbing his arm. "It's going to hurt a lot more, if you don't go to work now.", said Ayesha, "And Sumit, for the last time, you're not taking off your shoes!". Neev kissed Sumit and holding up his hands defensively, edged around Ayesha, "Okay, okay, I'm going.". "Don't forget, my check up is at two.", Ayesha reminded him. "Don't worry, I'll be there.", said Neev as he kissed her quickly on the lips, waved Prachi good bye and left. Prachi smiled, she was glad that Neev and Ayesha were so happy.

In the consulting room, Prachi kept her focus on Ayesha and on the monitor in front of them. "Very strong heartbeat, Mrs Shergill. Everything looks fine.", Dr Jinha reassured them as she performed the ultrasound. Prachi couldn't help but flinch at those words.
"I'm sorry, Mrs Mishra, there is no heartbeat. I'm afraid you have lost the baby.", the doctor on emergency duty informed Prachi as they desperately scanned the monitor for any sign of life. "No!", cried a distraught Prachi.
"Are you okay?", asked Ayesha anxiously, squeezing Prachi's hand and bringing her back to the present. Prachi nodded, pale and angry with herself. She was here to support Ayesha and not to drown in her own misery. Forcing herself to smile, Prachi said, "I'm fine. Don't worry about me. Are you going to find out whether it's a boy or a girl?". "Neev will kill me if I do.", replied Ayesha.

Prachi went back to the nursery. Prachi knew if the baby was fed and changed, eventually she will quieten down but after a while, she couldn't ignore the small, pitiful cries. There was something heartbreakingly helpless about them. Prachi went into the nursery. Gently she picked up the little girl. "Hey, sweetie.", said Prachi gently. The baby looked at Prachi through wet eyelashes and slowly calmed down. She wrapped her tiny fist around the finger, Prachi offered her. And with that gesture, it was as if a piece of the puzzle fell into place for Prachi. Prachi stared at the baby stunned. With her dusky complexion and thick, straight hair and black eyes, she looked nothing like Kshama but there was something about her that called out to Prachi.

"What do you mean?", asked Prachi, looking at the baby worriedly. "She was found at the gates two weeks ago. She was underweight, so we have been treating her since.". Prachi's heart wrung with pity and sorrow for the child she was holding in her arms. "Has any attempt been made to find her parents?", she asked. The nurse shrugged, "A report was filed with the police but these things happen all the time and her parents are probably long gone.". Prachi suddenly felt extremely disturbed. She remembered the first Kshama had been placed in her arms. Looking at this abandoned baby, she didn't feel the same overwhelming flood of emotions that she had felt, the first time, she had held her daughter in her arms but nonetheless, holding this child felt just as right. "What will happen to her?", asked Prachi, her mind and emotions in a spin. "Once she reaches her right weight, she will be sent to the orphanage.", replied the nurse. Prachi knew immediately, she could not let that happen.
