And imo the build up was necessary. They had introduced new characters, a new family so a little bit of foundation, a bit of background was necessary. The show wouldn't go beyond 100 episodes if they fast tracked everything. It's itv lol. The leads play hide and seek for atleast 3-4 months. It was thankfully never that long heresmiley37smiley37

When I watch itv show, I'm prepared that there will be some very good, some good, some average, some bad and some very bad episodes. There will be fillers and there will be some dragfest too. As long as a show averages above normal and gives good and very good episodes more than the bad ones, I'm game for it. And Katha has given more good episodes than the bad onessmiley36

How would I know about profits other than Twitter DM!!! Aj Kal wahii seeey all news comes smiley37

My bad, I didn't watch any dragfest ITV shows ...PKYEk was so fast, then SC till the saras kumud wedding super fast, then Beyhadh maha fast, Beyhadh 2 fast with abrupt ending too ..silsila badaltey rishton ka both season super fast ..I don't watch dragfest smiley37

I completely agree with the points you’ve made especially about the dangers of shipping and all. The way some of the fans have talked to and about Aditi and Azinkya in Twitter and acting like Katha comitted some crime etc for doing the best for her sonsmiley24. It’s downright ridiculous and frankly appalling! I’m glad that Aditi is happily married and has a kid because I’m sure that some of these people would’ve shipped them offscreen and created all sorts of chaos like the YRKKH fandom does.

The show has gone down hill to the writing the third angle was not needed at all and they compromised Katha and Aarav’s characters with it but the fandom reaction to Katha and literally being misogynistic towards her and sl*t-shaming her when VIAAN is the one who commited a literal crime is disgusting.

Mhm haven't watched this show after tge first 2-3 episodes but even then felt that the single-working mother concept with a terminally-ill child had potential but they would ruin it with the unnecessary non-consensual sex and love story angle.

Kaviaan story should have been platonic redemption at best.

Or, if they needed a love story, Adnan should have been casted as Ehsaas/Ehsaan who loses his bff after getting to know what he did with their subordinate and supports her selflessly. Viaan's redemption and Kathaa's love life could have run in ||.

Anyhow. Perfectly good cinematography and actors were wasted on a pathetic story

kathaa has not set the standards high. It doesn’t have the standards to be a web series!!! It is just decent only because the standard for itv now is very low. Itv shows back in 2010s was more entertaining and fun with good character development and less toxicity than Kathaa.

i am done with ITV. There is no point in expecting good from them.

Watching web series is the best choice now.

So true! KA has not set any standard IMO.The standard of ITV shows is so low that this show gets hyped. The shows of Star,Zee and Colors are puke-inducing.KA was much better that way.I really liked it until March-April 2023 and was hoping that it doesn't go off-air when there were rumours of it going off air in April. But the interest in the just kept being reduced with time.

Very well said. Indian TV shows' fans have this delusion that their show is different and is above the regular ITV standards. No, honey, it's not. Almost every other forum goes through this discourse, and this forum is not very different. KA is not "different". It had the potential, yes, but it's also catering to its audience it has served for time immemorial. Nearly all the ITV shows start and end with the concept of marriage. That's all that goes on and that's all that will go on. I don't see how is Katha any different with the exception of its main theme which was abandoned right in the beginning.

I followed the show from episode one so I am also kind of attached to it. So I can understand your frustration here.

But blaming it all on audience is not right. Firstly all sony shows have very less trp. Yes, we have progressed a lot as a society but still majority audience of itv are family viewers mostly women who watch tv soaps because they are habituated to watch something on tv at that fixed time and they dont pay full attention to it, they just need distraction and they are still attracted by ott drama, costumes, dialogues, mahaan bahu syndrome etc.

So mostly sony shows are watched by people who have long lost faith in itv and are main target audience for ott platforms. All sony shows do good online. This trp thing needs to be change to somehow include online viewership to measure correct viewership or popularity of a show.

Now, coming to the show. It going off air has nothing to do with the recent trolling by audience. Sony is a bully channnel. They have done it in past numerous times and they are doing it yet again. Even though their show rules online trp charts yet Sony channel doesn't pay any heed to trends, online polls, people's comments etc. Whoever is incharge of these decisions is fool of top degree for sure. But we can't do anything about it.

Now, audience gives their half an hour of every day to a show, they follow story, they become attached to characters, so they have full right to criticize it if it doesn't go according to their liking. I myself have on numerous occasions have given free pass to KA on the grounds of it being different from usual itv regressive shows. I even tolerated the most boring child nurturing track just to be there with the show in moral support. But you can't expect everyone to do that. And show also can't always defend itself using this argument. They have to justify the story, fulfill their promise and deliver accordingly. And if they can't then stop being defensive, atleast accept that they did mess it up.

Still this show will always be in my good books. Despite all it flaws, I really liked it. The actors, the dialogues, the poetry, execution of some scenes were mind-blowing,very very high than itv standard.

It was a love story, may be not of a kind we expected but still a love story. So all in all, I loved the show. More than anyone, Adnan won my heart by his performance.

Yeah, I know, it didn't age well. I just realised it as I was summarizing the real problems with the track in another post. I can relate to audience's frustration.

Shipping isn't a correct word. But, I remember when I joined the forum, every episode which didn't feature Katha and Viaan together were called boring/bad even though, there was nothing wrong in the episode it was a wholesome episode overall which will give you that happy waali feeling.

So, this sentiment was present from a very long time. Right now, it is at its peak. And, this somewhat explains why Ekta's show are so popular. They just provide daily dose of OTT drama without any hook in the story, give some hot romance scenes and done with it. So, there is no need to see the episode from beginning. Anyone can tune in between, it will be still the same.

Introduction and integration of OTT platforms will never allow ITV to develop. Sadly, It is what it is. It is almost impossible for ITV content to improve as audience will remain the same regardless. Maybe if TRP system also considers online viewership then, something good can happen.
