I'm sharing something from other thread in detail, as it makes more sense here. Pls read thru before blaming hindi TV or audiences or TRPs.
Not sure how many here in the forum are watching Sonytv shows live on TV, and how many know some valid facts.
Sonytv mostly appears as an A la carte paid channel, it doesn't come as part of Hindi basic bouquet packages offered by cable/dth/distributors in some Indian states to their consumers, unlike SP or SAB channels that are part of bouquet. 😳
Majorly during KBC & Indian Idol telecast times, when channel promotes these popular seasonal non fiction shows highly in media, that's where it seems SonyTV has a spike in its paid consumers basee across the country. As we know Sonytv is more urban consumer driven channel for many years, their distribution network outreach to interiors or towns is still lower when compared to SP or Z.
Also for many years Sonytv isn't popular for its week day drama fiction serials at prime time.🤔 Now other than BALH2 at 8pm slot on this channel, prior to KA launch NO other drama fiction serials at prime time are on air, other than those long running devotional series at 7pm & 7.30pm.
KA got launched at a highly competitive week day 8.30pm time slot for hindi GECs on 3rd Dec, that too before KBC ends on Sonytv. But felt promotions & campaigns for KA weren't aggressive enough for the kind of budgets & controversial concept that was adapted to hindi.😔
In that way can say BALH2 with 0.5 & KA with 0.4 may not be reasonably bad for this channel in BARC weekly TRP list.😛
From Jan 2023 how many paid subscribers still continue to renew Sonytv without KBC as A la carte paid channel, and how many of those consumers get tuned to week day serial like KA is a question? And how many of those Sonytv viewers who still watch Indian Idol on weekends, also get attracted to watch KA on weekdays also matters. Then how many of these viewers may be part of BARC sample households that have barometers linked to their TV to give weekly TRPs? These are all inter linked.
Fortunately last week onwards have been observing channel is promoting KA much more, also PR teams seem to be working more actively with regular media articles & spoilers too. So overall hype for KA may increase, hence viewership grossly can also rise both online & offline if writing & execution are sustained well next few weeks plus marketing campaigns. 👍🏼
