She blushed, lowering her eyes.

He gently kissed her forehead, and she leaned into him.

"Hmm. Jaane ka man nahi karta. Bata hi nahi chala, waqt kab beetgaiye. Par doosri taraf sab ko miss karti hoon."

"Jee, mom, saare doston, aur baby Suhani.."

"Oh, mein toh bhoolgayi. Acchha, ab aankhen bandh kardijye."

"Oh tum mujhe surprise dehnewali ho?"

He felt her fasten something around his arm.

On his wrist was a bracelet. It was simple, a band of leather with a small diamond-shaped piece of jade in the middle.

"Bata hain Robbie, iska kya matlab hain. Yeh tumhara raksha karenga, aur acchhi kismet bhi. Aisa yahaan ke log manta hain. Aapko achha laga?"

"Jee Kasturi, shukriya. Aap mere bare main itna sochti hain. Par tujhe bata hain, mere liye kisi aur cheez ki zaroorat nahi hain. Jo tum mere saath ho, mere saath hamesha sab acchha hi hoga."

He began to sing, a content smile on his face, and devotion in his voice.

Devika smiled as she spotted Robbie and Kasturi arriving from baggage reclaim.

"Hello, Robbie beta, kaise ho?"

"Great mom. You?"

"Good. Aur Kasturi, tum theek ho?"

"Jee, mummyji."

"Bahut enjoy kiya tum dono?"

"Jee, bahut zyaada"

"Aaj ka koi plans hain?"

"Pehle hum ghar jaake thoda aaram karenge, unpack karenge. Phir shaam mein hum Prem, Heer bhabhi, aur Suhani se milne jaayenge."

"Acchha theek hain. Chalo, ghar chale."

"Mein madat karoon?"

"Nahi, Kasturi, tum chinta mat kar. Alka aur Ramu Kaka ne sab kardiya hain. Chal, baitho. Toh bata, Heer kaisi thi? Aur Prem, aur unki beti?"

"Bahut acchhi hain. Bahut khush hain woh dono."

"Aur Suhani, woh kitni pyaari hain. Jee karta tha, mein saara din bas wahaan baitkar uske saath rahe," reminisced Kasturi.

"Kasturi, tumhe bata hain, Robbie jab chotta that oh bahut hi cute tha. Bahut shethani tha, par bahut zyaada pyaara. Kal mein tumhe photo dikhaaongi."

"Mom!" moaned Robbie. Kasturi giggled.

"Haan Robbie, Kasturi ko zarror dikhaaoongi. Oh haan, isse pehle ke mein bhoolja, Kasturi, tumhe kal Mr Garewal ko phone karna hain, aur.."

"Mom, actually Kasturi ab se woh nokri nahi karne wali hain," interrupted Robbie.

"Kyun, Kasturi?"

"Actually, mummyji mein..phir se actuary ka kaam karna chahti hoon. Meine sab training krliya hain, bas ek exam lehne hain. Darasal mujhe woh kaam bahut pasand tha," explained Kasturi, slightly hesiatantly.

"Theek hain, jo tumhe sahi lage. Par nayi secretary dhoondni paregi."

"Haan, mom, par ab koi problem nahi. Koi bhi dhoondle."

Kasturi giggled, remembering the reason Devika had chosen her at first.

Devika chuckled too, saying,"Sach mein, Kasturi, tumhe toh bahut hi ajeeb laga hoga."

"Toh kasturi, tum yeh exam kab longi?"

"Ek hafte mein lehsakti hoon."

"Theek hain. Koshish karne, jald se jald lehne. Dyaan se padhaai karna

"Really! Wow Preet that's wonderful news. As soon as we get back, we'll come and meet."

Kasturi giggled, remembering the reason Devika had chosen her at first.

Devika chuckled too, saying,"Really, Kasturi, it must have seemed so strange to you."

"So Kasturi, when will you take this exam?"

"I can take it in one week."

"OK, Try and take it as soon as possible. Study carefully."
