Prerna is always judged very harshly. She is seen as someone who is easily swayed and influenced by the forces around her. But that which is seen as her weakness is her greatest strength.. Hurricanes which can damage the strongest buildings seem to not even ruffle a palm tree, which can be seen swaying with the winds.. What then, is the stronger one? Steel and concrete or that delicate palm? Prerna's greatest strength is to accept all the harshness and negative forces that come her way and move on from them. A woman who had lost all hopes of her happily ever after was suddenly staring at her happy future, had a shining moment, when it was all within her reach, only to have it snatched brutally away from her. Blow after blow followed. But she withstood them all, quite like that palm. And she didn't just survive, she shined. This woman, through her sorrow has the heart to recognize how broken her family is. She has the strength to give support and motivate her family when they give up. When none of them have even seen what loss and heartbreak actually is. As long as it was just about her, she grieved.. But when it was about her family she stood up and kept her grief aside. She recognizes that there are more people in her life who right now need her and she now wants to be there for them: emotionally, physically and financially. She still has the strength in her to cradle her unborn child and assure him or her, that all will be well.. She has the compassion to stand by the family of the man she loves in their hour of need because she knows in his absence, that is what she needs to do. And then she has the self respect to tell them not to call her till her man comes for her. She knows he will one day. And till then, she will hold the fort.

If she is not strong, I don't know who is. No wonder anurag loves her so madly and recklessly. Who wouldn't?

I think Prerna is judged harshly because she's a dreamer and harder to understand.

I don't know if you've heard of MBTI but I think Prerna is INFP which is basically a dreamer and pretty much fits in what you described for her.

She's also stubborn and hides her emotions.

Here's some information about INFP, do you think this sounds like Prerna?

It all depends on our perception on what we want to see in a strong woman. To me, a strong woman is one who can face the storms in her life with all her might, yet will never turn bitter in life while retaining all her feminine traits within her. To prove herself strong she doesn't have to give it back to her wrongdoers and prove herself higher than men. She just have to believe in herself. And both our Pre & Eri do fit this bill perfectly.😊

There are two sides to everything. Resilience can be perceived as courage, or as cowardice. Resisting something strongly is a mark of strength. Surviving the ordeal without resistance could be strength too. Depends on how we look at it. At least, on ITV, women are portrayed in the most quintessentially one-dimensional way as possible, so what their idea is, behind Prerna's portrayal, or whether they have one or not, is something to ponder about. That said, it's nice, that you are seeing the silver lining in the dark cloud, just like your UN, Hope. ;)

I read the whole post and I was almost going to say that Prerna doesn't look anything mentioned in the post. Thank God I re-checked the date it was posted. For a moment I felt am I watching some other character these days.

Agree with both these points.. Strength can lie in both and prerna is more an example of the latter than former.

But Prerna had never been the quintessential ITV heroine. She has never given 15 minute long non stop lectures, accusing all and sundry or having long confrontations with a deity in a temple with a background of temple bells and lightening.😆. These are the usual tropes of a typical ITV heroine.. I don't know when it happened that these became misconstrued for strength and womanhood, but for me, when life delivers blows that take your breath away, and knock you off your feet, standing up once again is the greatest sign of strength.
