Agree with both these points.. Strength can lie in both and prerna is more an example of the latter than former.
But Prerna had never been the quintessential ITV heroine. She has never given 15 minute long non stop lectures, accusing all and sundry or having long confrontations with a deity in a temple with a background of temple bells and lightening.😆. These are the usual tropes of a typical ITV heroine.. I don't know when it happened that these became misconstrued for strength and womanhood, but for me, when life delivers blows that take your breath away, and knock you off your feet, standing up once again is the greatest sign of strength.
Well, there are shows that showcase women differently. But, usually the intent of the makers is quite clear. So, I am not sure how far I agree with Prerna being an absolute contrast to the loud, assertive women on TV. Coz, there are lots of times when her characterisation isn't really just clear, and it's all about interpretation. If she's supposedly to be starkly different and subtle, there are lots of times, when KZK just blows your head off with its lack of subtlety. 😆 Case in point, zooming in of Komo's face. Just an example.
Subtlety on TV is awesome, and Erica can do that really well, if that's the intent of the makers. That said, subtlety of one person when the entire theme of the show is based on the lack of it, doesn't gel well and obviously gets interpreted as weakness, if you know what I mean. So, the opening background theme or whatever it is on SP of KZK, is actually, classy and subtle, with A and P's perfect portrayal, but that classiness just degenerates to earthiness when they show a hell lot of bullcrap that makes no bodily sense in the episode. Her subtlety contrasting with Mohini's obvious, dramatic high-handedness, comes off weak, even if it is not so. Had they characterised Mohini, as someone who's got the same degree of vileness as Mohini, but who isn't roaring and thundering like she does, but who's more subtle, maybe, Prerna's subtlety could have been better opined about. I DO like Mohini's dramatic classiness, but this show isn't on the same plane of classiness for all the characters. Everyone in their individual right, is individualistic, but together it's a mish-mash
