|Chapter 2|
‘Together we may give our children the roots to grow and wings to fly.’
~Parents.
Table was graced with meticulous maroon velvet cloth, shimmery yet sober, the dining chamber descended into the golden layers painted and acquainted with mirror finish. Sunlight filtering through curtains glided on the floor while the sun kissed the apex. Broccoli salad splayed in full glamour and the caramel oats tugged in the centre, breakfast aroma filled their nostrils tickling the hunger pangs.
“Quite a love for mirrors, Rishabh.” said Prerna, her gaze tracing the chamber.
“Obsession, Mrs.Bajaj.” Rishabh reverted, “I am obsessed to show people their real face.” He winked.
“Chandu, please get me chocolate milkshake and vanilla pancakes.” She requested, eyeing Sneha who descended down beaming in smile. Unbeknownst to self, her lips too tugged in a curve and arms stretched out to for a hug. Peace twitched in her eyes as the little arms wrapped around her frame. With her eyes closed, she breathed in the Johnson's baby scent diffusing into her senses that gradually took her off to memory lanes.
She was once a baby too and now handling one of her own.
“Good morning, baby!” Prerna chimed in a slurpy tone, compelling the father-daughter duo chuckle in response. Sneha's arms hung low around her neck while Prerna swung her to and fro in affection. Rishabh cleared his throat in a guttural voice to grab his ladies’ attention.
His fork had a broccoli pinned up vertically and lettuce wrapped around the knife,“ Mr.Broc the broccoli and Mr.Tuce the lettuce are secret avengers. They dive into the tummy and fights with bad bacteria and viruses.” He raised the fork high in air; swirling it across in glory and an additional echo of his husky vocals did wonders in the story telling.
“But Mr.Broc and Mr.Tuce cry.”
“Why so daddy?”, striking out her tongue to him Prerna mumbled.
“They believe that kids don't love them as much as they love other avengers. They don't know how much Sneha loves them. Will you tell them Sneha, how much you love them?” He bend on his sides, and broccoli gelled along Sneha's lips vanished when Prerna ducked her head to eat that away.
“Prerna,” he called her annoyed.
“What?” She wriggled her eyebrows in response with the glow of mischief glazing on her skin.
“I love Mr.Broc more. I love green. Specially the hulk I met last night.” her tongue wetted the cupid’s bow and teeth tucked on the lower lip. His dimples grew prominent and the blood rush in his ears become swift than usual.
“Sneha loves Miss.Vani the vanilla pancakes more. Right sweetie?” Sneha nodded her head elated.
“That's not healthy, Prerna, and you know that.”
“Wheat flour, honey and whipped cream makes as much a healthy combination as a bowl of oats she would dislike gobbling down. She's still a kid, Rishabh. Let her taste buds some breathe.” Prerna passed a sly smile realising his palpable annoyance and silent groan.
“And Mr.Broc caused ache in my tummy with his fighting skills.” eyes dilated in bewilderment and nose scrunched.
“Mr. Broc is boring as well.”, she whispered in Sneha's ear and little one shook her head actively.
“What are you two up to? Any secret conspiracy?” Rishabh butt in with the clear display of secrecy.
“Erm… Nothing important. We were sympathising with Mr. Broc.”
“Great way of sympathising, Prerna. Mr.Broc isn't boring.” husk of his vocals fluid with a smirk.
“So you heard it,” she pressed her lips in a grim,”no brownie points for that."

Heyya, sorry for the delay. There was an unexpected call for an hospital emergency that I had to deal. Though things weren't much serious but it was tedious to deal side by side.
I assumed this to be a light hearted simple chapter revealing the family lifestyle of Bajaj's. A silent give away to Prerna and Sneha's relationship. I don't know how this story is turning out to be but plot was better and intense that this.
Do let me know if you are fine with such simple light hearted chapter or intense chapters like the previous.
Thank you❤️
