Hello!! I am back with another update!!! 😃

I have tried my best to give a clear time frame about Prerna’s pregnancy in this update. But if there are any calculation errors or if any changes are required PM and I’ll try to make the changes as soon as possible. 😊

Part 5

Rishabh, Prerna and Kukki were almost done with their breakfast when the others gathered there. Mohini, Nivedita and Anupam took their seats and Masi had reached there too. She noticed the bandage on Prerna’s head and asked about it. Rishabh give them a brief of what happened, he looked at everyone seriously and spoke

‘Actually main ghar ke arrangements main kuch changes karna chahta tha. Jab hum yahan aaye the tab maine kaha tha ki hum ghar ke upar wale hisse main rehenge but now I don’t think ki Prerna ke liye iss halat main stairs se aana jana theek hoga!! So I was planning ki hum study se paas wale room main shift ho jaye!!’

He waited for everyone to react, he was sure that the Basu’s would say something against his decision and that is exactly what happened. Mohini let out a sarcastic chuckle and retorted

‘Apni wife ke liye kuch zyada chinta nahi kar rahe aap Mr. Bajaj? Uske comfort ke liye aap hum sab ke comfort ke saath compromise karne ke liye ready hai na!!’

Prerna was about to say something but Rishabh stopped her by placing his hand on hers and replied to Mohini

‘Filhal meri priority sirf meri wife ka comfort hai. Aur jis rooms main shift hone ki baat maine ki hai vo dono guest rooms hai jinhe filhal koi use nahi kar raha. And let me remind you that iss ghar pe legally aapse zyada mera haq hai so I guess ki main jo bhi arrangements main changes lana chahun la sakta hun. If you have any other genuine issue with our shift let me know !!’

When no one had anything else to say, Rishabh summoned Chandu and asked him to start shifting things from his and Prerna’s room to the one immediately next to the study and Kukki’s things to the room next to theirs.

‘Prerna. Aap room main jake ready ho jaiye hume thode time main doctor ke paas jana hai aapke routine check up ke liye. If possible hum Kukki ko on the way apke mom ke yahan drop kar denge. Kal se usse unse milne ka maan kar raha tha, I hope that won’t be an issue to them!!’

‘Of course not Mr. Bajaj, in fact Maa bhi Kukki ke saath time spend karke bohut khush hongi !! Main aur Kukki dono ready hoke aapko study ke paas milte hain thode time main!!’

Saying so she got up from her chair and Rishabh immediately extended his hand for her to hold it. He escorted her and Kukki to their rooms and retired to the study to finish some work. After two hours they had dropped Kukki at Prerna’s mayaka and were headed towards the hospital. Suddenly, Rishabh noticed that Prerna was looking at him keenly and he felt his cheek redden at her gaze.

‘Mere chere pe kuch laga hai kya? Aap iss tarah se mujhe kyun dekh rahi hain?’

‘Nahi apne face pe kuch nahi hai, main bas aapki age guess karne ki koshish kar rahi hun!!’

Rishabh frowned at her reply, he wondered what made her suddenly think about his age and he asked her the same

‘Actually, physically aap bohut fit hai, toh I think ki aapki age 30-40 ke beech hogi but aapke sar pe yeh jo safedi ki chamkar hai usse dekh ke lagta hai ki aapki age 40-50 ke beech bhi ho sakti hai ... isaliye main thodi confused hun ki aapki age hai kya...!!’

Rishabh let out a healthy laugh at her choice of words and Prerna pouted at his reaction. Since the past one week they had not only started to understand each other better but had also become friends and she genuinely wanted to know what was his age. After a few moments when Rishabh recovered himself he answered her question

‘Well, aapka first guess right hai, I am 36, and rahi baat mere sar pe jo safadi ki chamkar hai usski, toh uski wajah stress hai. You see, I started working at a very young age and through my teenage years I was a really malnutrtional child. It was not until Kukki’s arrival in my life that I started taking my health seriously. As I told you, meri life ka struggle Kukki ke aane tak chalta raha toh uske aane ke pehle kabhi chance hi nahi mila ki khud pe dhayaan dun, mera dhayaan bas mere career pe hi tha!! So maybe that’s why I aged way to early in my life !!’

Prerna had mixed emotions after listening to him, she empathised with his past and wondered how much struggle he had to go through to reach the point at where he was in his life today but she also felt proud at how far he had come and what he had made of himself today. She caught hold of his hand in hers, surprising him and gave him a genuine smile

‘I am really proud of you!! ‘

Rishabh gave her a shy smile at this compliment of hers but then noticed that she had a mischievous one on her face. He narrowed his eyebrows at her and asked her what she was up to

‘Kuch nahi bas soch rahi thi ki humari jodi bhi aaj kal ke trending celebrities ke tarah hi hai. Aaj kal toh sab almost apne se 10-12 saal ke age difference ke partner se hi shadi kar rahe hain!’

‘Really?! You think that we are a celebrity couple??’

‘Umm, kind off, see aap Ek successful business man hain. Rich hain, Kolkata main har koi aapke naam ko janta hai, so you are kind of a celebrity and humara age difference bhi zyada nahi hai ussi 10-12 saal ke frame main hai Toh I guess that makes us a celebrity couple right??’

‘Wait, does that mean that you are just 24-26??’

Rishabh asked in a teasing tone! He realised that they had reached the hospital and got off the car, not without noticing that anger that had started to surface at Prerna’s face after he commented on her age

‘What do you mean by just 24-26?? Aapko kya laga main 30-32 saal ki hun kya??’

She asked him angrily as he opened the door to her side and guided her inside the hospital with his hands around her waist. He casually shrugged at her and continued teasing her. She slightly hit his arm and that made him chuckle!!

‘For your information, I am just 25 okay!! Usse badi nahi hun main!’

‘Hmmm, Okay! Aap kehti hain toh maan leta hun!! ‘ he teased her once again and she just huffed at him. They had already reached the doctors cabin.

The doctor did a quick check up regarding Prerna’s Blood pressure, sugar, etc and then guided them towards the sonography room. As soon as she started the computer and the screen showed the image of their little Blip, Prerna caught Rishabh’s hand in hers. Both of them couldn’t help but smile with tears in their eyes looking at that tiny dot which was their baby!! The doctor smiled when she saw the happiness on their face and took a snap shot and give it to them !

Once they were back in the cabin she started prescribing some more vitamins and supplements that Prerna was supposed to take. When suddenly Rishabh asked her a question.

‘Vo actually doctor hume aapse kuch aur baat bhi karni thi... you see jab aapne last week ghar aake Prerna ke pregnancy ke bare main hume bataya tha, you calculated that she was five weeks pregnant then, which means ki kal se the seventh week of her pregnancy starts, but the thing is that we have been married for only five weeks as of today....which means she conceived before our marriage. Though we are married NOW and yeh HUMARA hi bacha hai, agar kisi ko iss baat ka pata chala toh vo Prerna ke character ko question kar sakte hain .. issliye actually I wanted to request you that if could change her pregnancy term on the reports to maybe two-three weeks later as in if you state on the reports that she enters the fourth week of her pregnancy from tomorrow! Could that be possible ? Please!!?’

Prerna was surprised at his sudden question to the doctor. She hadn’t thought about it all but Rishabh had thought a great deal about it and had done proper calculations as well. Just to make sure that tomorrow no one would be able to question her or their child. She looked at her husband with awe and respect, she looked at the doctor who gave her a smile and gladly compiled to their request. She also stated that she was doing it only because she knew that what Rishabh was stating was true and she could see how much he loved his wife and also cared about her reputation. They thanked the doctor and walked out of the room with their hands locked to each other’s

Prerna slowly wrapped her hands around his left arm and leaned into him. She rested her head on his forearm as they walked towards the parking lot silently. Rishabh couldn’t stop himself from smiling at her actions. He felt happy and content with this new proximity and comfort level of theirs. As they waited for the car to come. Rishabh softly called her name, making Prerna look at him.

‘Prerna. I know that I should have asked you before directly requesting the doctor to change the dates but main ghar pe yeh conversation nahi kar sakta tha and I didn’t get a chance to talk about it in the car either. So that’s why I had say in front of the doctor itself but there is something else that I want you to remember. According to these calculations, you have conceived around three/ four weeks ago and that matches with our honeymoon period ! I also made these particular calculations because it’s nearly two weeks now that we have shifted to Basu Badi and as you know Anurag ko already shaq hai because he knew that we didn’t share the same bed since our shift to this house...’

He paused when Prerna looked at him with her mouth agape, he just nodded and continued

‘Yes, I had a conversation with him as well this morning and I stated to him that you were three weeks pregnant. So that’s why I have asked the doctor to mention on the reports that you start your fourth week of pregnancy from tomorrow !! The time frame thus matches with our honeymoon time, which is the most logical and safe period when you could have conceived this pregnancy. Now, about not sharing the same bed, I reasoned out with him that you were mad at me for shifting to their house and because of that argument we didn’t share the same bed. It was only after the fake accident drama happened that we sorted our issues out. So I want you to also stick to the same story. Because I know you don’t want him to know the truth anymore, so we both have to say the same lie to everyone and not just him, taki sabko yeh sach lage!!’

He waited for Prerna to say something but she was literally speechless. She didn’t know what to say. This man, who was her husband, had already sorted so many things out and she didn’t even pay any heed to them. Rishabh snapped his fingers in front of her face to get her attention, he looked at her in confusion when she gave him a mischievous smile.

‘Not bad Mr. Bajaj, mujhe pata tha ki aap smart hain. Lekin itne smart hai yeh nahi pata tha. Aapne toh sab kuch ekdam perfect calculations aur explanation ke saath sort kar diya hai!! Waah!!’

Saying so she freed her hand from his and started clapping her hands dramatically in slow motions!! Rishabh couldn’t help but roll his eyes at her filmy antics!

‘Great, aapko bhi sab clearly samajh aa gaya na? Let’s go home then. !!’

They were on their way to Prerna’s mayaka when suddenly Prerna asked the driver to stop the car and before Rishabh could even ask her the reason behind it she ran out of the car followed by a worried Rishabh. He rolled his eyes when they halted in front of a Chaat stall, he realised that she wanted to have chaat !!

‘Seriously Prerna!? Aap Bol nahi sakte the mujhe ke aap chaat khana chahte hain? Iss tarah achanak se gadi rokhne ki kya zaroorat thi??’

‘Last time jab bola tha tab aapne mana kar diya tha!! Isaliye iss baar nahi bola! ‘

She turned to the stall vender and asked him for a plate of spicy plate of chaat but Rishabh protested

‘Prerna, doctor ne kaha tha na ki aapko apne khane ka dhyaan rakhna hai?? You shouldn’t have spicy food!!’

‘Mr. Bajaj please, aap Ek week se mujhe sirf sprouts khane de rahe hain. Aaj nahi!! Main aaj apne maan ka khaungi!!!’

‘Lekin Prerna aapko...’

‘ Lekin wakin kuch nahi, main chaat khane wali hun bas. Aap bhi kahiye na !! Bohut tasty hota hai!!!’

Rishabh made a face and replied to her

‘Umm no thanks!! I am fine !! Aap hi khaiye!!’

Prerna took the plate from the vender and looked at him. She saw him eye the plate little disapprovingly. She extended the plate towards him once again offering it to him but he nodded his head in no. Shrugging her shoulders Prerna started enjoying her treat. Rishabh kept adoring her and smiled looking at her, Prerna caught his eye and before Rishabh could look away or say anything she took a spoon full of Chaat and fed it to him forcefully. With great difficulty Rishabh swallowed it making Prerna laugh whole heartedly !! Her laughter was like music to his ears!! Rishabh himself joined her, soon they finished rest of their snack went towards Sharma’s resident.

When they reached there the sight in front of their eyes warmed their hearts, Veena was making two pig-tails in Kukki’s hair while Mahesh who was seated next to them tried to mimic a cartoon character, making Kukki laugh. As soon as Veena spotted them she smiled looking at how happy her daughter was. She also didn’t fail to notice that Rishabh had wrapped his arm around her protectively while guiding her inside the house. Kukki ran to her parents and hugged both of them from their leg!

‘Kya baat hai, aaj toh Kukki bohut khush lag rahi hai!! Aapne yahan sab ke sath bohut enjoy kiya?!’

Rishabh asked her in a baby like voice and she gestured to him how much she enjoyed herself today!

‘Accha batao, nani ko tang kiya ya nahi??’ Prerna asked her mischievous but she got a reply from her mother instead of Kukki

‘Bilkul nahi. Kukki toh bohut acchi bacchi hai!! Hume zara bhi tang nahi kiya...’

‘Kya Kukki, Maine kaha tha na, Nani ko bohut tang karna !! Kyun nahi kiya??!’

She faked being upset while Rishabh looked at her in surprise

‘Prerna, aap Kukki toh kya seekha rahi hai?! Kisi ko pareshan karna achi baat nahi hoti!!’

‘Aur nahi toh kya!! Har koi tumhare tarah nahi hota. Jab dekho shaitani aur masti sujhti hai tumhe! Tumse zyada tumhari beti ko samajh hai!!’

Veena agreed with Rishabh and scolded Prerna, who rolled her eyes at their lecture and caught her ears saying sorry to the both of them!! Kukki laughed at her mother’s cute antics. Rishabh felt his heart swell at this interaction. This was all so normal! He felt like he had been deprived of a family’s love for the longest in his life!!

After spending another hour or so at Sharma’s they decided to leave since the weather seemed a little stormy they couldn’t wait much longer. By the time they reached home it was already thundering and raining heavily. Masi saw them enter the house and walked towards them with a fake smile

‘Accha hua tum sab time se aagaye. Mausam bohut kharab ho gaya hai!! ‘

Rishabh nodded his head in response to her and asked her about the shifting of their rooms

‘Haan beta dono kamre ready hain!! Lekin pehle khana kha lo uske baad room main chale jana !!’

‘Nahi Masi, hum Prerna ke ghar kuch light khake aaye hain toh filhal bhook nahi hai. Hum jake ek baar room check kar lete hai sab saman aaya hai ya nahi!!’

They retired to their new rooms, they left Kukki in her room and then headed to their room. Prerna was surprised to see that every piece of furniture had soft padding on the edges. She looked at Rishab in confusion

‘Aapne yeh Kukki ke wajah se lagaya hai??’

Rishabh nodded his head negatively

‘Nahi yeh aapke wajah se lagaya hai . Because Kukki se zyada filhal aapko yeh sare protection ki zaroorat hai! Kya pata aap kab kis cheez se takra kar khud ko phir hurt kar le!!’

He smirked at her while Prerna looked at with her mouth wide open.

‘Aapne mujhe kya Kukki se bhi chota baccha samjha hai??’

‘Nope! But you are as careless as her! And don’t try to argue. Aap bhi janti hain ki yeh baat sach hai!!’

Prerna was about to counter reply him but he just raised his eyebrows at her making her frown at him. She sat on the bed with her arms crossed across her chest, indicating that she mad at him. He just shook his head and went to change.

Suddenly it started thundering loudly, startling Prerna a bit. Just then Rishabh came out of the washroom and Prerna ran to him to hug him. He was taken back by her sudden action but hugged her back. When it thundered the second time Prerna hugged him tightly and he understood that she was scared. He patted her head to calm her. He broke the hug and wrapping his arm around her shoulder he took her to the bed.

‘See maine bola tha na ki aap filhal Kukki se bhi choti bachi ke tarah behave kar rahi hain aaj kal!!’

Prerna just glared at him and he shrugged his shoulders. As soon as he helped her settle on the bed someone knocked at their door. Rishabh went to open the door and found their daughter standing there with her teddy clutched tightly to her arms. He went on his knees and pulled her towards him.

‘Aapko bhi darr lag raha hai??’

Kukki nodded her head and hugged him tightly! He lifted her in his arms and took her to the bed. Kukki was about to sleep next to Prerna but Rishabh stopped her.

‘Actually, Kukki ko neend main move karne ki aadat hai, toh kahin aapko lag na jaye. If it’s okay with you, I’ll sleep in the middle!!’

Prerna just nodded her head in yes and Rishabh slipped in the bed with Kukki to his right side and Prerna on his left. As soon as they lay on the bed it started thundering loudly, Kukki hugged Rishabh tightly and placed her head on his chest in fear and Prerna too clutched on his arm. Rishabh let out a chuckle seeing how his wife and daughter were so scared of little thundering. He smiled and kissed both of them on their forehead and assured them that it’s nothing to be scared about. In a matter of minutes Prerna and Kukki had dozed off but Rishabh lay there with a content smile on his face. This moment for him was like his dream come true! His wife and his daughter lay in his arms, sleeping peacefully, soon he went to sleep as well.

It was around dawn when Kukki woke up feeling a little thirsty. She opened her eyes and looked at her parents sleeping next to her. Prerna’s head was now resting on Rishabh’s chest while his one arm was wrapped around Kukki’s shoulder and the other one was wrapped around Prerna’s waist. With great difficulty she managed to lift her father’s heavy arm and gently place it on Prerna’s shoulder, at the same time she tried to not wake them up. She got off the bed and looked at them again, she wanted to capture this moment on her parents sleeping so peacefully in each other’s arms. She picked Rishabh’s phone and took some pictures of theirs. She then went towards the coffee table to help herself with a glass of water.

Just like Kukki, Anurag too had woken up because of thirst and was on his way to the kitchen when he crossed Rishabh and Prerna’s new room, the window of their room towards the passage was slightly opened, he went near and peaked inside. The site made his blood boil in anger. He noticed how peacefully they were both sleeping in each other’s arms and recalled Rishabh’s words from the previous morning, clenching his fist to control his raging emotions he left from there with a bitter feeling about what he just saw, while Kukki went back to the bed and lifting Rishabh’s arm, she slept in his warmth once again!!
