because hero, the good guy is kept on a pedestal, right there at the top, above all human flaws... so if he does anything which is not perfect he is dethroned from the same pedestal without giving any consideration to human flaws
vs
redeeming a bad guy, this in a sense gives hope, light at the end of the tunnel... psychologically .. like if this person can change then anyone can change for the better and with good environment with love and care a person cam change for the better and people connect with the "hope and impending positivity" here .
we have two different systems to measure these two characters .. while a whip is lashed at the good guy for the slightest of the human flaws ... a bad guy who is on the way of redemption is treated with TLC , if we considered bad guy as human flaw we don't give the same leverage to the good guy when he errs... it's like a perfect one cannot afford to do humanly mistakes seems to be an unsaid rule, !
The first ranker in a class cannot afford to get 2nd rank , but the one who always used to get 40% would be well appreciated if he gets 60% . human logic ,,
