Thats just Prem, he's got nicknames for everyone 😆 😆 😆 he calls Mukti Basanti because she used to talk a lot, like Basanti of Sholay (his fave film). Of course, now she doesn't so much, but he still calls her it because its familiar and comforting...and she hates it.

Bajaj is daddy cool simply because he is daddy cool!

Can't remember when he started calling Tushar soldier

He called Prerna Mother India long before he knew she was HIS mother, mainly because he said that she went around giving motherly bhashans to any and everyone...also, he likes the film Mother India, and she reminds him of that...

He also calls Anurag "Dad Basu", simply to differentiate him from daddy cool.

Prem is his birth name and the one that Prerna and his family call him by...UD is the name given to him by Aparna, when she raised him for 20 yrs...he is UD when he is evil and Prem when he is the loving son, lover, brother etc. Its a tag that the audience have begun to identify him with.

Prem calls Tushar soldier because when he first met him, Tushar and Prem got into a serious fight. Prem apparently felt Tushar was a soldier who wouldn't mind beating up someone... and the name stuck!

He started calling MOther India because it fits her like nothing else! After Tushar and Prem got into the fight, cops break apart the brawl and throw them both in jail. Prerna comes and bails out TUshar, and she looks at Prem (she doesn't know he's her son then) and bails him out too because he is like her son. Prem then christens her MOther India... the self-righteous, lofty Mother India who would bail out the kid who bashed her son.

And Basanti... oh will the Basanti days ever really be back again???
