FEAR OF THE MIDDLE-CLASS GIRL

Why do all the wealthy ladies in Ekta's serials act afraid of middle-class girls?

I honestly don't get. They keep saying that all a middle-class girl wants is 2 marry a rich boy i.e. their sons.

So what if a middle-class girl wants 2 marry a wealthy person? That's not a crime is it? I mean im sure that even an upper-class girl wud want 2 marry sumone who was rich, but no one makes her out 2 be a gold-digger if she does.

Who here hasn't at least once thought about winning the lottery? Or being an celebrity, and spending obscene amounts of money like they do? Or even getting married 2 sumone who was ridiculously rich an spoilt u rotten, by allowing u 2 never feel the lead 2 work 4 a living? In other words u wud work purely 4 pleasure. Cos ive thought about all of these fings, an im not ashamed 2 admit it. Sure me and my family are comfortable, an can buy fings that we both need an desire, but at the same time I wouldn't mind being richer. I don't fink that wanting 2 win the lottery, or wishing 2 marry a nice boy or happens 2 be rich makes me a bad person.

So why do these upper-class ladies fink so low of the middle-class girl? If her dreams r the same as an girl of an upper-class girl, is she really finking above her status? I don't fink she is, cos she has every rite 2 want 2 aim higher in life. An we all know that in 2day's materialistic world money talks.

But nonetheless, if u were 2 introduce me 2 a nice boy who was poor, but had an heart of gold, an then another guy like sharad (whose rich but a complete an utter b*****d), then I know ill wud take option number one any day. Money may talk but its voice is not as loud as the voice of morals. An it never will be, is sumfing that any decent person be they middle or upper class will know.

I agree with you. These so-called "upper class" women are only so because of monetary wealth, most of them are not upper-class about morals. Of course, girls like a husband who can afford to give them the best of everything, of course, parents also want the best for their children; but that desire, that wish is not confined only to a "class"...its like, if a wealthy man spends millions catering to his spoilt childrens' needs, he is being a good father, and if a middle-class, working claas man even dares to dream of a better life for his child then he is a golddigger? the real golddiggers are those "upper-class" women who marry for money, or seek out men even wealthier than themselves, and who've never done a hard day's work in their lives. They aren't called gold-diggers because they are wealthy, but aren't they the real cheapskates? these people who will only talk to someone if he/she is of their "standard", meaning that they have six-figure inheritance. If a middle-class girl works her way up to wealth by hard work and perseverance, she is told that she is rising above her station.

Women like Kamini are afraid of these middle-class girls because, or so i feel, they see a little of themselves in them. Many of these so-called upper class women are so because they were lucky enough to marry a rich man...prerna was a middle class girl before she married bajaj. People forget that they don't come into this world carryiing money, someone has had to earn it before them so that they have this privilege. Sharad is not wealthy: Sharad's dad is wealthy, Sharad has done nothing to make him earn that money that he so freely spends. And I agree, if I was given a million dollars to stay with Sharad, I would throw them at him and choose the poor but gold-hearted man instead...money buys a lot of things, but it does not buy happiness, and thats a fact, no matter what people say otherwise.

Many upper class women are hypocritical. They want to have the best of both worlds. Forget Sharad, he's a man...but remember that Page 3 girl whom he was going to sleep with? I can bet she sleeps around with people she's only just met at parties all the time....and yet, if a so-called "middle class" girl sleeps with one guy, ONE guy, and someone she loves to boot, she is immediately branded cheap and a gold-digger. No matter what the girl's intentions for sleeping with that guy (don't get me wrong, some girls DO sleep with guys solely to get their money), these upper class women immediately act as if they know exactly what that girl's intention was, and it is never good.

well there is some truth to the story as well. Some girls do sell their body or use their body to get money from the guys. However, there are still some girls who do this solely because they are abused and used by upper class people. People sell their bodies as their is ample demand for that, some do it out of choice and some because they don't have any other choice........:( It is really sad. In case of Mukti, if anything like that happens in real life there is no PRERNA, who will leave her kids and parents to fight for one girl.

And face it, caste system still exists. It just does not get blown out of proportion that it used to be.

When I first started watching Indian serials I was surprised how class conscious Indians were portrayed, but maybe thats because here in America, we really don't have a middle class (although the gap between the have and have nots are increasing) or at least its hard to distinguish those who are...but I agree that the "upper class" women are insecure with middle class girls...there has always been class conflict between the have and the have nots...the haves wouldn't want to share with the have nots cuz it would mean less for them...so greedy!

I think South Asians in general are class concious...status, name, fame, class are all still very important in our desi culture...I have seen many Kaminis but not any Prernas...
