Urvashi Dholakia is in talks with Baa Bahoo Aur Baby now
Nika! Looks like Urvashi Dholakia aka Komolika Basu has finally made up her mind to quit Balaji's Kasautii Zindagi Kay. It all started with rumours that the on-screen vamp to beat all vamps was meeting with the Balaji people for a hike in her remuneration. A previous meeting with Shobha Kapoor had apparently gone nowhere. Apparently, this closed door discussion didn't fetch her a response either.
Urvashi also shares a strained personal equation with co-star Shweta Tiwari over actor Cezanne Khan (whom they both apparently dated at one time or another). But the last straw seems to have come in the form of the re-entry of another Cezanne-ex, Gitanjali Tikekar, in Kasautii… Close sources say that Dholakia has been feeling threatened by Balaji's insistence on bringing back Gitanjali's (Apo*na's) character in the show and is insecure about sharing the limelight with her.
So Urvashi has informed the producers of Kasautii… that she wants to quit. The scriptwriters are busy writing an episode that will have Komolika going away to an asylum. While this hellcat is way, Apo*na will fill the 'bad gal' void. Says Nivedita Basu, deputy creative head of Balaji: "I wouldn't say Urvashi has quit. I'd say that she is on a long leave. She has been telling us that she needs a break from the erratic shooting schedule. She told us that she has been having some health problems. We understood her completely and mutually decided to part ways. The character of Komolika will be brought back as and when the story demands."
Dholakia is out of town and unavailable for comment. But her colleagues insist that she has no health problems. There could be truth to this allegation if one considers that Urvashi will soonplay a part in Baa Bahoo Aur Baby. Does Dholakia intend to move out of one camp and into another? "I did have a meeting with Urvashi for Baa Bahoo Aur Baby. But that was just an informal discussion. Nothing has been finalised as yet. She is a dear friend and we'll be absolutely delighted to work with her,"says Aatish Kapadia, the producer of the show.
Either way, looks like la Dholakia is certainly on the move. Where she'll prowl to next, only time and television will tell.
