Meherbaan – Part 5
Main Koi Aisa Geet Gaoon
Ki Aarzoo Jagaoon
Main Koi Aisa Geet Gaoon
Ki Aarzoo Jagaoon
Agar Tum Kaho
Main Koi Aisa Geet Gaoon
Ki Aarzoo Jagaoon
Agar Tum Kaho
Main Koi Aisa Geet Gaoon
Ki Aarzoo Jagaoon
Agar Tum Kaho
Tumko Bulaoon
Ye Palkhein Bichhaoon
Kadam Tum Jahan Jahan Rakho
Zameen Ko Aasmaan Banaoon
Sitaron Se Sajaoon
Agar Tum Kaho
Main Koi Aisa Geet Gaoon
Ki Aarzoo Jagaoon
Agar Tum Kaho
Main Titliyon Ke Peechhe Bhagoon
Main Jugnuon Ke Peechhe Jaoon
Ye Rang Hai Vo Roshni Hai
Tumhare Paas Dono Laoon
Jitni Khushbuain Baag Mein Milein
Haan Jitni Khushbuain Baag Mein Milein
Main Laoon Vahan Pe Ki Tum Ho Jahan
Jahan Pe Ek Pal Bhi Thehro Main Gulsitaan Banaoon
Agar Tum Kaho
Main Koi Aisa Geet Gaoon
Ki Aarzoo Jagaoon
Agar Tum Kaho
Agar Kaho To Main Sunaoon
Tumhein Haseen Kahaniyaan
Sunogi Kya Meri Zabani
Tum Ek Pari Ka Daastaan
Ya Main Karoon Tumse Bayaan
O Ya Main Karoon Tumse Bayaan
Ki Raja Ko Rani Mili Thi Kahan
Kahaniyon Ke Nagar Mein Tumhein Leke Jaoon
Agar Tum Kaho
Tumko Bulaoon
Ye Palkhein Bichhaoon
Kadam Tum Jahan Jahan Rakho
Zameen Ko Aasmaan Banaoon
Sitaron Se Sajaoon
Agar Tum Kaho
Main Koi Aisa Geet Gaoon

Jai rang the doorbell for second time, waiting for the door to open. Another minute passed before the opened a crack and a pair of eyes looked at him before flinging the door wide open. Pia grinned at him, "Hi Mr Walia!" she greeted him chirpily. And then seeing the bunch of flowers in his hands, "Are those for me? How sweet of you Mr Walia?"
Jai blushed a little and then said hesitantly, "Hello Pia, sorry the flowers are for Bani."
Pia grabbing the flowers and then pushing him in, "Well Di is not here so I shall put them in a vase and tell her when she gets back." She gave him smirk, "Oh I forgot to say, Di is not home. She won't home until Friday as she has gone to Pune for some work."
Jai shuffled on his feet, disappointed Bani was not home. "I shall leave. If she calls, could you ask her to call me." He fished out his business card and held it out for Pia to take. Pia took the card and then arched her brow, "What's the rush Mr Walia? If Di is not here, I am. You could at least give me some company. Take a sit, I will make you a cup of coffee. I make great coffeee."
Jai sat down and looked around the tiny room. The room did not much furnishing, just a couple of chairs and small table and a bookcase which was crammed with books. A small radio stood on the window sill with small pots of flowers. Pia came back few minutes later with two cups of coffee and handed him one.
Suddenly with seemed dwarfed by Jai presence and Pia felt a little uncomfortable, especially after she had seen how big his house was. "I am afraid my home is not as grand as yours Mr Walia. But its comfortable enough for Di and myself. Hopefully, now that I am getting some orders for the clothes designed for the show, I can save up and get a bigger place."
Resting his cup of coffee on the table, Jai clasped his hands, "Pia it makes no difference to me that you live in a small apartment. What makes a house a home is the people who live in it. Your di is a very sweet person and I am sure she has also instilled good manners in you...you did invite me to stay and have coffee. "
It was Pia's turn to blush. "Thank you for saying nice things about my di. Yes di cares for me a lot. She has given up a lot to take care of me. I hope one day I can do something for di too."
Jai set his cup down, "That's was a great cup of coffee Pia. I will take leave, do tell Bani I came by."
Pia walked him to the door, "Bye Mr Walia and I promise to tell di to call you."
Several heads turned and looked at the handsome man walking down the hallway of the apartment building. Couple of the girls came up to Pia and asked her who he was and seemed excited when she told him he was her Banidi's friend.

"Munna, you are back," masi called out as he walked in. "Bani ko milne gaya tha?" she asked slyly.
Jai came and sat down next to her, "Yes masi but she wasn't home."
"Oh dear, you didn't call her." Masi asked.
Jai sighed deeply, "I thought I would surprise her. Pia was home and she told me Bani is away in Pune until Friday."
Masi patted his hand, "Why don't you bring her for dinner one day? I didn't get chance to talk to her that day at the party. She seems a nice girl. I would like to get to know her too."
Jai cast a doubtful eye, 'I don't know masi. She is can be stubborn, she is not comfortable with our social status."
A look of irritation crossed masi's face, "Kyun? Paisewali usse pasand nahi? Kyun hum bhi toh insaan hai, humne abhi tak kissiko nahi thukhraya kyunke woh garib hai."
"Masi she did not say anything like that. I think she is gets overwhelmed when they see all this." Jai gestured his hand at the lounge, it was spacious and elegantly decorated. There were rich sofas scattered around exquistely carved teak tables, huge artworks and statues gathered over the years from trips abroad.
Masi couldn't help but notice the change in his eyes as he was lost in thought, "I guess you are in love with her."
Redness flared up Jai's cheek, he didn't think it would be so obvious to others, but then masi was always able to read his thoughts and moods. "Haan. The first day I saw her. She was completely different from all those girls on the ramp. It was her eyes, she has such beautiful eyes masi." Again Jai was lost in his thoughts. Masi pinched his cheeks and laughed lightly, "Phir sapne mei kho gaya. Go and freshen up and then we can have dinner."
It was late in the night when Bani called Jai. She had a busy day and had to take clients out to dinner. When she checked her voicemail, she found out Pia had left a message to call Jai Walia. Bani dialled his number and waited for him to pick up.
When she heard his voice, "Hi Mr Walia, its Bani."
Jai muted the TV which he had turned on to pass time. "Hi Bani. Did you talk to Pia?"
"No, she left a message. I had my cell turned off as I was out with clients." Bani responded.
"I thought you would be home so I dropped by and found you were gone. Had coffee with Pia as she insisted."
Bani laughed softly, "Well at least your visit wasn't wasted. Pia does make good coffee when she is inclined to."
"What are you doing now Bani, beside calling me?"
"Nothing. I was thinking of going to go to bed. I had a tiring day. I want to start early tomorrow and finish the rest of the work here, so I can be home Friday evening."
"Do you want to go out to dinner on Friday?" and then remembering what masi had said, "Oh actually masi has asked if you would come for dinner at home. She wants to meet you again."
There was a pause and Jai was almost scared Bani had switched off the phone. "Bani..."
"Yes Mr Walia."
"Say something...you don't have to if you don't want to. We can go out..."
Bani kicked of her sandals and made herself comfortable on the bed, "It's ok Jai. I will come but not on Friday. I can't guarantee what time I will get to Mumbai. May be at weekend if it's suitable for masi."
"Fine I will tell her?" Jai racked his brains, he didn't want the call to end. "Bani did you eat?"
"Yes had dinner with clients. What are you doing Mr Walia? Do you always stay up late?"
"Yes, I try and do some work after dinner and then watch TV to catch news or sports and then hit the bed when I can't stay awake any longer. But I shouldn't keep you up, good night Bani."
"No don't go just yet, we can talk for a while. Actually it's feels good not to talk about work. That's all I have been doing for two days." Bani curled up on the bed and talked with Jai for a while until she found herself yawning loudly. Jai heard her yawning, "Good night Bani. I think you better get to bed. Call me tomorrow."
"Good night Mr Walia." Bani set the phone aside and curled up, it didn't take long for her eyes to close while still reminiscing about Jai's deep tone which transuded sensual warmth.

Bani did not get to Mumbai till late Friday night. Pia was out, she had left a note for Bani. Exhausted by the hectic day, Bani wanted nothing more than to sleep. As she turned on the lights in her room, Bani found lilies in vase by her bedside with a scribble from Pia stating they were from Mr Walia. Bani smelled the rich fragrance from the flowers, the white petals on closer look had a very pale pink edges. She remembered he hadn't called back about dinner. May be his masi had plans for the weekend, anyway she can call him tomorrow and thank him for the flowers.
It's was late when Bani got up, woken up by the noises coming from the kitchen. Pia must be up and making coffee. Bani showered and dressed quickly. In the kitchen she found Pia sipping coffee. She had dark circles under her eyes from lack of sleeep. "Good morning Di. When did you get in?" Pia asked.
"Close to ten. I was tired so went to bed. I am going to do pooja first and then make us something to eat." Bani said as she headed towards her small mandir. After pooja Bani set about making lunch for them, five days of eating out had left her longing for home cooked food, especially her favourites like daal, roti and sabzis. She cooked couple of her favourite sabzis and roti, made some halwa for desert. The aroma of the halwa brought Pia into the kitchen. "Wow di, halwa...smells divine. You haven't made it for a while."
"Well set the table and we can eat. I am hungry, food in the restaurant can be so boring." Bani placed the dish with halwa on the table and sat down.
Once they had eaten and cleaned up, Pia asked Bani, "So Di want to go shopping?"
Bani who needed to get some stuff for the house readily agree, "Yes, I need to stock up the kitchen before Monday."
Two hours later, with hands full of bags, they came home. Bani put the items away and then made some tea. She sat sipping her tea curled up in a chair in the room, in few minutes her tea half drunk she fell asleep.
Pia came out of the bedroom, her nails half painted, the doorbell had rung twice, where was her di, she mumbled blowing on her nail. Seeing Bani dozing in the chair, Pia opened the door and smiled seeing Jai. "Mr Walia, hmm...must have loved my coffee so much that you come back for more." Jai pulled her hair, "I wouldn't mind another cup, that is if your nails are dry," he said noticing Pia blowing on her nails. "Is Bani back?" he asked.
Pia nudged her head towards Bani sleeping in the chair, "She's napping over there. Maybe she is in a dreamland with you."
Pia nudged him towards the chair, "Sit, I am sure she will wake up soon. In the meantime we can enjoy a cup of coffee."
Jai came and sat in a chair and watched Bani, her face rested in the crook of her elbow, her breathing soft.
He blew gently on her face, Bani stirred and opened her eyes and closed them. The next second her eyes were wide open and she pushed to sit up straight only to find herself almost toppling over. Jai's quick reaction steadied the chair. Bani pushed back her hair, "Mr Walia...when did you come?"
Pia placed the tray on the table and smirked at Bani, "Like few minutes ago. You were oblivious to the door bell ringing." Jai picked up his coffee and took a sip, "I am sorry I couldn't call you. I was little busy, actually masi is in hospital." Seeing worried look on Bani's face, "Nothing to worry about. Just for observation. She wasn't feeling well yesterday so brought her in for a check up and they decided to keep her to do some tests."
"I hope there is nothing wrong. Can I go and see her? If it's ok with the family that is?" Bani asked cautiously.
"She would love that, she is bored already but they want let her go home just yet. How about I pick you up later. I am going home to pick up some food for her, I can pick you up on the way back."
Bani stood up, "I have a better idea, why don't I cook something for her and take that."
"Are you sure?" Jai asked. "She is not fussy about food. Something simple would be nice."
Bani was already in the kitchen, pulling out pots and then daal and spices from the cupboards. Pia rolled her eyes as the clattering noise reached her. "Just watch she will make enough to feed ten. Di loves cooking for other people."
Jai stretched out his legs, "Well I will get to sample her cooking then. We have cooks in our house, everybody have different preferences. Masi used to cook few times a week, but even that is rare nowadays."
Pia gazed at his lean form resting lazily in the chair which was far too small for him. He really was unpredictable person. Jai Walia the sauve businessman was just as comfortable in their home as in his sophiticated boardroom. The khaki pants and the polo shirt did not hing to hide his masculinity. Without trying he just oozed sexiness. In her line of business she saw lots of good looking men, but not many who just captured one's eyes the minute he walked in, whether in faded jeans or in an Armani suit.
An hour later, carrying a tiffin box, Jai drove to the hospital. Bani had changed and was wearing a dark blue salwar with white embriodery, it was simple but she looked great in it Jai thought. Masi was delighted with the visit and even more delighted when she found out Bani had cooked such great meal for her. Masi savoured the simple daal, saabzi and roti. In between Jai helped himself to the bite or two on the pretense of confirming masi's praise. It didn't take Jai to polish off the leftover, while telling Bani she was an amazing cook. Masi chuckled at his comments and Bani's embarassment. She definitely liked this girl a lot. She was perfect for her munna.
