"Jai we are here to cut ur hair not ur head. Why are u so nervous?" From last fifteen minutes Jai was just looking at mirror, caressing his hair and glancing at scissors on the hands of hair dresser.
"Bani I am not nervous. I love my hair. Is it necessary to cut?"
"Jai again u stared chatting the same mantras. But if u really love ur hair this much that we will do one thing"
"What?" Jai saked with lots of hope that Bani will finally wont cut his hair.
Bani just smiled and said "
Well I will ask Aparajit(hair stylist) not to throw ur hair rather pack it and gift it to u. Is that OK?"
Jai didn't say anything turned toward mirror indicating that he is ready.
"Ok Bani how much should I cut" asked Aparajit
"Umm just trim it"
"3 inches" said Bani cutting him off.
"
3 inches? Bani u will make me bald. How will I face everyone tomorrow"
"Ok aparajit u cut I will go and do some window shoping and will come after an hour" said Bani completely ignoring Jai.
Aparajit nodded whereas Jai was left ceressing his beloved hair for the last time..
After an Hour A Bani entered the shop carrying shopping bags she stooped in her way after looking Jai's new looks and stared with big eyes and jaw dropped. There was standing a very new looking Jai with short hair. Those eyes which were always hidden under his thick glasses and hair are visible now, his cheeks, his sharp chinned strong jaw was refecting his perfect masculanity. Handsome would be an understatement he was looking too attractive and sexy indeed sexy.
"Bani I was telling u don't cut my hair but no u didn't agree me.Now I look like par kati murgi(don't know what u say in english)" said Jai examing himself in all possible direction.
"Omg Aparajit u have done miracle" still staring Jai
"I knew boy had looks" Jai started feeling shy.
"
Jai u don't know how handsome, good looking u are looking with short hair"
"Thanks Bani but I am feeling ackward"
"u don't need to. Tomorrow the whole school is gonna look at u and girls, I cant imagine their reaction."said Bani with enthisiasm in her voice.
"Thanks Aparajit" biding him goodbye both Jai and Bani went.
The school reacted the same way as Bani had said. Those girls who never bother to look at him were giving him second looks some of them were shamelessly staring at him, guys who always made fun of him and his were so envious that it could be seen through their face. Even Pushkar and his friends didn't recognise him.
"Hi Jai! Wow must say my sis has done great job. You no longer look like pervious Jai u look so damn handsome and attractive. I can see ur effect on girls. Now no one can sop me winning 40" saying that he looked towards his friends indicating money.
"Thanks Pushkar" "Hi Jai! Hi Pushkar!" Jai and pushkar turned their face to see Roshni staning their looking Jai with smile on her face.
"hi" Greeted both of them same time.
"Pushkar do u mind if I talk with Jai for some time" "No no not at all" saying that he bid them good bye and went not beforing winking at Jai.
"Jai do u remember u were talking about history exam that day I have found out that tomorrow we will get our results and guess what I have heard that u got the highest"
But our Jai was too busy staring Roshni. His love(according to him) was standing in front of him and chatting with him of whom he had dreant every single night when today has come true he didn't feel any thing special happy or excited and he didn't know why.
"Ro..sh..ni.."
"come on Jai my friends are waiting me at canteen let me go and introduce them to u"
At the same time Bani was running with her friends saying about Jai new looks and how good he is looking. She had heard about the school's reaction and dying to see it through her own eyes. On reaching the locker room she shouted
"Jai!" Jai turned but with him their was Roshni her arm entwined with Jai's. Watching them like that Bani suddenly forgot what she was going to say.
On seeing Bani Jai smiled showing his all 32 teeths.
"Hi Bani. Meet her she is roshni and Roshni she is Bani my good friend".
"Hi Bani" saying that they shook each other hands and not once did Roshni left Jai's hand which Bani didn't like a bit.
"U are giong somewhere"
Jai was going to somethiing but Roshni intervend
"Yes. We are going toward canteen where my friend are waiting. Lets go Jai. Bye Bani"
"Bye roshni Bye Jai" said Bani with sad face and turned around.
Rano and Roshni saw the transit of emotion in Bani's face walking completely forgetting about them whereas Jai was dragged by Roshni.
"Rano don't u think things have changed here between Jai and Bani?"
"I do" replied Rano.
That was the daily routine now. Jai was always with Roshni their arms entwined following her everywhere always sorrounded by her hi fi friends. He should have been happy but he always felt something empty inside him. Every weekend he used to go with Roshni some where out sometimes pub, sometimes shopping, sometime resturants but he never enjoyed his dinner as he did with Bani listening her non stop chattering and her complaining about her mother food just to irritate her, the music in which he danced with Roshni never reached his heart as the carefree laughter of Bani did, he never felt Roshni as beautiful in her eveyday new expensive dress as Bani had looked in that black dress, several times they went in pub to watch Football match with her friends but he never enjoyed as he had enjoyed palying a simple basketball match with Bani but Jai never realised this.
Same was the case of Bani. Long gone was the naughty, carefree girl as she was. Rano and Rashi several times took her outing with them, went to watch movies, shopping but they could never get their Bani back. Now there was no complain against English litreture nor was the heating arguments between Mrs Kagoda and Bani. Everyday Bani would come exactly minute before her class starts and go home without meeting anyone after school. During break she would be in her class doing work and at lunch, even the cook missed her complained about their food. But unlike Jai, Bani knows what her problem is, is knows that she is in lone with Jai yes jai not the new handsome looking guy but that shy, hairy, chasmis geek who she knew loves someone else and is happy with her.
