part2
Bani couldn't shut her eyes. She tossed and turned in her bed. This bizarre thing was not happening to her. This was all a nightmare and she was going to wake up from it.
Bani got out of the bed at 5 am she couldn't sleep. She made her a hot tea and took to her living room to drink. She finished all her unfinished work at home made a light breakfast for her and went to her shop.
Rashi hugged her as she walked into the shop. 'Hug wug kisliyein?' she asked the grinning Rashi.
'Bani………. Your book has hit the stand. See..' she took a copy from her stand and grinned.
Bani grabbed the book. She flipped the pages and hugged it to her chest inhaling the scent of the fresh paper.
'Happy?' Rashi grinned.
'Very…. Thanks..' Bani went and bear hugged her. Both the girls giggled.
Writing short stories for the children was Bani's hobby and Passion. She had finally got it published. She picked up the phone and dialed Sumithra the publisher. She spoke to her for half an hour thanking her for publishing her stories and promised she would write more after the public's reactions.
Bani took her seat in her chair and flipped the pages of the book again.
Rashi looked at her for a moment and asked, "What happened. Yesterday…'
Bani's face blanched. All the happiness she was feeling a moment ago vanished.
'What happened?' Rashi asked worriedly.
Bani thought for a while and told her about. 'It took few seconds to register what Bani had told her. She gaped at Bani.
Bani nodded. Her eyes filled. "I don't know what to do.. thum kuch bathao muje yaar.. I don't want his wealth and I don't want to marry him…'
Rashi ran towards her dear friend and hugged. "I am sorry Bani ... You don't be upset everything will be fine..' she did not know what else to say.

In the afternoon the phone bell rang. Bani suddenly had a sick feeling. She stared at the thing. Rashi noticed her and picked up the call. She spoke for a moment and nudged Bani to take the call.
'Who?' Whispered Bani.
'Vakeel..' she whispered back covering the mouth piece.
'No.. I don't want..' Bani pushed the receiver.
'Take it and ask him what he want..' Rashi whispered back.
'No… you speak to him'.
'Bani. Don't be a durpock..' she slapped on her shoulder and thrust the receiver in her hand.
Bani ;looked pathetically at her friend, she took the reliever nervously and held it towards her ears. 'Aditya uncle…'
'Bani…' he spoke tenderly. 'my dear I had like to see you tomorrow for lunch in tiffany's.. be there at 1pm…'
Bani's stomach knotted. 'Anything important?' she asked her heart in her mouth.
'Yes dear be there …. And Bani.. Congrats …'
'Thank you.. She smiled.
'When can I have my copy?'
'Soon..'
Exchanging pleasantries they put the phone down.
Rashi looked at her disturbed face and said, 'don't worry and stop thinking of the worse everything will be okay..'
Bani nodded. She knew nothing was going to be fine. Her life was going to take major change.
----------------------------------------------
Bani reached the restaurant in time. The receptionist took her to the seat Aditya has booked for them. Her face lost its color as she saw Jai Walia studying her across from her seat. He acknowledged her in a lazy nod. The lady took her leave, leaving Bani and Jai. Bani did not know what to do. She sat quietly fidgeting with her hand bag's strap. Jai's gaze did not leave her face. She looked everywhere but him. Bani wondered what Aditya was up to. The silence filled between them. She did not want to sit there and be scrutinized. She looked t her watch impatiently.
'He wont turn up… he is playing cupid.. The man has lost it..' she heard him.
Bani ignored him.
She knew there was no [point arguing with him.
Bani turned her head to the sound that came from behind her. She smiled with relief. Jai noticed and thought against commenting on it.
'Bani.. Jai….I m sorry for being late… I had a last minute client..'
Bani shook her head understandingly.
'Well Bali sahb .. Now you can tell me why we are here…' Jai said with no nonsense tone.
Aditya looked at him and took a deep breath. "well I am here with both of you for something important..' he said and turned to Bani.
Bani's stomach knotted.
What is the suspense?' jai was impatient.
Aditya forced a smile. 'Well, the company has been neglected for the past few weeks after Uday's death . You both have to take charge of it from tomorrow onwards.
'No.. not now..' cam the first protest. 'my factory need me now I am at present dealing with union and stuff..' Jai said not taking his eyes of the older man.
Aditya looked at Bani. Bani looked around and then shook her head. 'I can't uncle I have a shop to look after…'
'Please guys don't be difficult.. Jai it is your father's he had made the company with his sweat and blood…'
'Yeah ... yeah.. and he divided it between her and me.. Let her take charge… she is the one who made him write a will of that sort..' jai was in his nasty mood.
'Oh please…' Bani couldn't hold her tongue. 'Please I don't want anything that's yours take them and get me out of this …'
Jai threw his head and laughed mercilessly.
'Jai please…'' Aditya warned him.
'Okay .. I can't spend my full time with the company.. I'll try.' he said.
'Good..' Aditya sighed. And looked at Bani. 'And what's your contribution Bani?'
'I don't know anything about business and I have a shop Adi uncle I can't neglect the shop..'
'What shop? Jai asked much to the annoyance.
'A book shop..'
'Oh please woman.. a book shop? He frowned.' when I can leave my factory and spare time why not you? What did you think I am sitting there and killing flies?'
Bani looked at Adi for help. The man in front of her was an impossible species.
'Jai please man… we are here to settle things amiably….' Adi prayed.
Jai rolled his eyes.
'Aditya turned his attention to Bani. 'Well my dear I have heard your book is finally out…'
Bani smiled nodding. Jai looked at them . he had no clue what they were talking about. Aditya saw his face and said, "Bani is a writer…her book has been published…'
Jai looked at Bani. " I have not heard about her…' he said thoroughly enjoying the discomfort he was causing her by the question.
Bani felt like piercing his eyes with the fork lying near by. God! Please give me patience to deal with this impossible creature she prayed.
'Jai how many writers do you know by name?' Aditya asked exasperatedly. " she is new to the world and besides she is writing stories for kids..'
Jai controlled the urge to laugh at the statement. He gave her an I thought so look.
Bani looked away from him. If she did not concentrate else where she was sure to kill him then and there.
Aditya ignored the cold war and said. " guys I do not want to hear any more arguments about this. You both will report to the office tomorrow precisely at 9 am..'
'But uncle I don't know anything about business.. ' Bani tried her excuse once more.
'I'll teach you..' Said Jai surprising her no end.
'I …' before she could protest he cut her in.
'You will be coming as he said. And let the things get done and over with..'
Oh! it would be fine if you teach me with the attitude like this. She held her tongue against voicing her thought.
Bani was a patient and quiet girl As Uday Walia would say. But his son was making her the most impatient and irritable human being on earth.
