Chap 7A:
6:00 pm,
Walia Mansion.

The wind was slowly blowing through the curtains of her room. It looked as if it was about to rain. Slowly letting out a sigh she switched on the radio to tune into her favourite station Radio Mirchi. She could clearly remember the purchase of this particular radio…

It was bought from her first Paycheck…or atleast what had been left of it…

the major part had gone for the paying off the loan that her dad had taken to pay off all the dues to the pawnbrokers of Mt.Abu…

and another hefty amount been given to Jai Walia as a monthly rental which he of course had refused to touch but even so been kept on his desk….

a small part had gone for Pia's monthly allowance and the last of the money left after all that had been about Rs.200 which was supposed to be for Bani's personal Expenditure but she had spent it to buy this radio for Pia as a gift.

A Part of it had been chipped off from one of its corners where it had hit the floor when Pia had thrown it saying that she would not accept such a cheap thing instead of the iPod she had demanded for herself after seeing anu's state of the art 80 GB Apple iPod which also connected to her nike shoes while she went for a walk.

She slowly turned up the volume as the tiny room was filled with slow and melodious music….

(She did not notice the door open slowly as someone entered the room. The wind made her hair fly slowly. It had started drizzling outside. The whole room had been slightly dark as the sun had set quite earlier than usual. A mellow light from the purple sky outside had given the room an ethereal glow. She was so absorbed in the music that she did not notice him standing a few feet away from her…)

( He was mesmerized by the sight. Quite tongue-tied as he let the music wash over him… She looked like an angel in an ethereal white salwar kameez with pink embroidery on it….Her white duppatta flying in the zephyr. As if hypnotized he took a slow step forward forgetting all that he wanted to say…all that he had gone through in his mind before entering the room had been washed clean…all he could see was this lovely nymph in white sitting on the window sill resting her head on one of the sides…all he could feel was the cool breeze hitting his face…all he could smell was the smell of damp mud mingled with a hint of the salty air coming from the sea close by and a trace of lavender.)

That got him out of the trance. "What the hell is wrong with me" he thought as he went towards the radio and switched it of angrily.

She opened her eyes finally noticing his presence in her small room. Quickly jumping off the window sill she adjusted her dupatta and pushed a strand of hair behind her ear.

"Aap…" she began getting harshly cut by him
"Oh shut up and listen to me get dressed quickly…." He said gruffly
"And ya where this stupid thing" He added throwing a ring at her startling her. "Tony will shift all your things into my room….well almost all. I won't tolerate that outdated and cheap contraption in my room" He said pointing to the small radio with a look of disdain.

"Par ye sab??" Bani struggled with the words…
"Maasi wapis aa rahi hai…Use pick karne keliye train station jana padega…She also wants you to come along…
But don't get too cosy with the arrangement because kamre ke bahar sirf ek dikhawa hai maasi keliye.
Magar kamre ke andar hum dono ajnabeyon ki tarah rahenge.

She believes that I and you are happily married and let her feel that way because I have absolutely no intention of hurting her genuine feelings by telling her about this fake marriage or should I say money trap.

Don't you dare tell her anything because she is very sensitive after her previous heart attack. She means a lot to me so beware. And if you are wondering why I gave you that ring then let me tell you that who bhi ek dikhawa hai. If she asks you anything just make something up after all that's something that both of you are very good at…fooling people." Jai Walia said walking out of her tiny room or shall I say ex-room.

Bani stared at the plain thin gold band with the swirling JB engraved on it. The way Jai had thrown it at her was as if it meant nothing to him. Why would it mean anything to him? He was damn rich; he could afford all these things, while she could only dream of even buying silver.

She remembered the ring Pia had shown her more like shoved in her face saying that Bani would have never even dreamed of being so up close to such a ring whereas Pia now owned it, could wear it.

She also had cruelly laughed at Bani telling her that no one would even give her a second look let alone propose to her in such a romantic way as Jai Walia had proposed Pia.

"You are not even worth working as a waitress at Jai's restaurant, all their waitresses are way more fashionable than you are…General Manager…huh what a joke. I'm through with you flaunting as my elder sister commanding me to do this and that like your slave…when you coolly forget the fact that you are nothing more than our servant's daughter…

Just because Dad considered you as his own daughter after your mother died giving birth to someone as wretched as you doesn't mean that I have to consider you as my elder sister.
I was just acting in front of the Walia's so that they don't find out the truth about you. Meri image kharab hogi. Even mom did not approve of you…You didn't know that did you?" Pia snickered looking at the shocked expression on Bani's face.

"Well at least now you know why she made you do all the housework and never buy you gifts and chocolates as she bought for me…She could never have the guts to openly show her disapproval in front of dad, but she told me about it. She told me to keep away from you. You don't deserve to even bear the Dixit name. Don't you ever dare to hit me like you hit me today during the engagement. tumhe tumhari aukhad samaj jani chahiye…Pia Dixit pe haath uthane ki phirse jurrat mat karna nahin toh anjaam bura hoga." She had said before walking out of Bani's room slamming the door.

A loud honk brought her out of her reverie. Jai Walia was waiting in the car for her to get in getting more and more impatient.

He was looking dashing in the White Armani suit with a Baby Blue shirt inside; while she thought she looked really plain in a white saaree with blue embroidery on it. She was wearing only her mangalsutr and the silver earrings her dad had given her on her 18th Birthday.

The only gold she was wearing was the thin gold band she had been staring at minutes ago. She had very little make up on, that is if you could call a bit of kaajal and Johnson & Johnson baby powder for her face as makeup.

Her lips were naturally pink and soft, and her neatly cut nails devoid of varnish healthy and pink. The soft chime of her silver anklets, the ones that her real mother had left for her (all of kiran's and nishikant's things were claimed by Pia) filled the car's quiet interior as it went over a hump or through a puddle. (Hey its Jai Walia's car…it is bound to be as smooth as a baby's bottom…)

Jai Walia looked at his quiet wife as she looked at the ring again and again.
"Must be too plain for your tastes isn't it Miss.Gold-Digger?? oh I'm sorry Mrs. Walia??' He asked sarcastically emphasizing 'Mrs. Walia'.

She suddenly looked up at her husband as he drove giving her a disgusted look every now and then.

"It's the prettiest thing I've ever seen." She said looking directly in his eyes.

"Oh stop pulling my leg, it's the worst ring I could find…I looked all over town today…usually 'Husbands' look for the best well I had quite a swell time doing the direct opposite…after all my 'Darling Wife' deserves the Worst and world's most ugliest ring doesn't she???" He said snorting at her.

"Well for a person who never ever wanted gifts and gold this is the prettiest thing you've ever got for me." Bani said smiling at him.
"Thank you Mr. Walia" she said whole heartedly.

"Touch Mr. Jai Walia". Bani Thought to herself seeing the shocked look on his face.

A/n: Is that somewhat long??? Guys I'm in tension….tomorrows my open house or the day I get my report card along with the results…please pray that I pass into std 12…. Or else I doubt there will be anymore comp time for me…..please do pray for me…..

Chap 8:

It was a long drive from Walia Mansion to the train station.

Walia Mansion had been situated in a very secluded area because Walias had always liked the quite solitude.

The drizzle from earlier had changed to a downpour in a matter of minutes.

The tension in the car lay so thick that you could cut it with a knife. There was absolute silence in the car. It was still a long way therefore Jai switched on the radio.

"Do you like the rain???"

Bani woke up from her trance and turned to look at her husband.

"you didn't answer my question Bani, Do you like the rain??" He asked her in a husky tone.

"umm…yes" Bani answered in a word afraid to speak much.

Jai waited for her to continue then seeing that she wasn't asked.

"Why??"

"umm… because rain I feel is in someway or the other connected to me… I don't know why… when I feel sad or am in pain rain kind of sooths me, washes all my worries away. It makes me feel… well nice whenever I look at rain. I feel calm. Its kind of like a friend to me…"she says slowly.

"a friend???" he looks at her and starts laughing. "you must be crazy…rain your friend…ha ha ha…my god what a joke" he says rubbing the tears in his eyes…"look now you made me have tears in my eyes from laughing so hard…friend, really…you are talking as if you never had real friends"

Bani just looks at him sadly and turns to look out of the window again.

After a few minutes they arrive at the train station. The rain had stopped by then.

Jai asks the information counter about massi's train. Turns out that it had just arrived at platform number 2. They go to Platform 2 to look for Maasi in the crowd.

"Beta idhar…" calls out a voice. They turn to find Massi smiling at them. Jai rushes to her side and hugs her. Bani slowly makes her way to them not knowing what to do bends down and touches Massi's feet.

"Sada Suhagan Raho beta…" Massi says blessing her. They then make their way back to Walia Mansion

Reaching Home Maasi unpacked and moved into a room close to Jai's, that meant that JB had no other choice than to stay in the same room.

"Now that I'm back, Jai Idhar aa tu…" Maasi said turning to Jai.

"Kya hua Maasi…app…OWW" Jai said as Maasi caught hold of his ear

"Aise Chupke se Shaadi karne ka kya matlab hai??? Mujhe bataya kyun nahin??? Itni bhi kya jaldi thi mere aane thak ruk nahin sakte the??" Maasi asked in a mock angry tone.

"oww Maasi, main aapko batane hi wala tha ki, umm oww, please mera kaan chodiye, I'm sorry, oww…" Jai said getting embarrassed as Maasi had caught hold of his ear in front of everyone including the servants, Family members and especially Bani.

Maasi let go of his ear and he stood up and looked around and saw the servants sniggering quietly, Bani had an unreadable expression on her face.

"Andar se Haas rahi hogi…" He thought angrily

"Pia kahan hai Bani?" Maasi asked

"Bahut baatein hogayi, Chalo ab dinner kar lete hai…." Jai said changing the topic quickly.

"Well Tony, Aaj Kal tum khana Pehle se 100 times accha banate ho, kya hua? Jackpot Lag gaya Kya ?? Koi secret Recipes ka stash? shayad maa ka?? Kyun ki aisa khana to sirf meri maa Hi bana sakti thi.. " Jai asked

Bani slowly averted her gaze to her feet, not meeting anyone's eyes was slowly trying to slink away, But was not possible because she was sitting right next to jai(massi forced her, or else she would have sat farthest away from the man who was supposed to be her husband.)

Throughout the whole dinner she was a nervous wreck, nibbling at her food almost dropping her glass of water as she felt him reach out for the salad which was right next to her.

He had no problems what so ever and had polished off a major portion of the food with great relish not even glancing her way. All his favourite things like Palak Paneer, Butter Chicken, Four kinds of tikkas, and specially gajar ka halwa and kheer.

"Sir, I did not…oww" Said tony as Bani silently kicked him

Tony turned to look at Bani who was glaring at him.

"Tum Bani ko kyun dekh rahe ho Tony??" Maasi asked

"woh kya hai na Maasi, ye khana tony ne nahin Bani Mami ne banaya hai" says rano.

Jai looks at Bani in shock then quickly hides it.

"Wah, bahu tu toh badi chupa rustam nikhli, bataya nahin ki ye khana tune banaya hai." Massi asks Bani smiling at her.

"Haan, ye baat mujhe bhi kabhi pata nahin chalti agar main kitchen mein na gayi hoti tony se baat karne. Wahan jaane par dekha ki Bani Tony ko vegetables katne bhi nahin de rahi thi saara kaam khud kar rahi thi… Tony bechara tho darr gaya ki kahin uska kaam na chala jaye ab jo Bani ne uske kitchen pe kabza jo kar liya tha…Don't worry tony now you can also take a vacation whenever you want." Rano tells them smirking slightly…

Jai clears his throat and leaves the table without a word.

Bani meanwhile was turning red and looking at the floor refusing to meet anyone's eyes…

Afterwards when she was leaving the table she heard jigyasa's voice quite near her

"kyun Bani rani ab yahan ki bawarchi bhi ban gayi?? Aaj nahin toh kal ye humme zeher bhi kila degi."

"oh shut up jigyasa, watch your mouth…its not as if you can cook anything, tum toh pani bhi nahin boil kar sakti…" Aditya said

Bani walked away swiftly eyes smarting after seeing jigyasa grinning at her sinisterly knowing that she had heard everything.

She entered the room that she had seen almost every day but which suddenly had this alien feeling to it.

The room was dark, the lights had been put out. She slowly walked in so as not to wake 'him' up.

But luck was definitely not on her side today. She tripped on the heavy carpet and fell right on top of him on the bed.

"F***!!!!!! What the hell? Get off me." He shouted at her pushing her away harshly making her lose balance and fall on the floor hitting her head on the corner of the bedside table.

The bedside lamp was turned on.

"I'm…So..oo..rry!! I..Trip…Trip..ed" She said stuttering in pain. She couldn't see a thing clearly due to the tears in her eyes. She tried to get up but fell down…she had sprained her right ankle.

He did not make any attempt to help her. He just extinguished the lamp again and turned to sleep, leaving her on the floor in the darkness.

Somehow she had managed to get on her feet, pain shot through her right leg making her fall onto the floor again. One hand on her left temple which was bleeding she got up again and limped across the room to her suitcase. Took out her nightdress and went to the bathroom. She then washed the wound and limped out to spread a thin mattress on the floor. She then tried to forget the throbbing pain in her left temple and right leg as she tried to go to sleep.

After a while her breathing changed as she slowly fell asleep. He got out of bed without a sound.

Jai saw his wife sleep peacefully, turned away from the bed and towards the open window. The moonlight was falling on her face. He slowly knelt down beside her. A black veil of silky smooth hair was covering her left temple. He slowly tucked it behind her ear careful not to wake her up. It was not a deep wound but never the less would definitely leave a small scar on her perfect face. His eyes then turned to her right ankle which had swollen up and also the faint scars on her wrists. He then just stood up and walked away towards his bed silently.

8:00 am,

Walia Mansion,

Jai came down for breakfast. He had ignored the egg sandwiches and juice kept on the coffee table.

He came to the table and saw Bani arranging the table limping slightly. The moment he saw her he turned to leave.

Tony suddenly came to him and gave him a folded note.

"What is this??" Jai asked tony.

Tony just shrugged his shoulders to indicate that he did not know anything.

Jai opened the note. In it was a message written in a beautiful slanting handwriting.

" Mr. Walia,

Don't worry I did not make your breakfast today, tony did. But please do have something and go because Massi would suspect something fishy if you don't. I don't want you to skip breakfast because of me.

Bani"

He just turned to look at her. She was not even looking at him. She just set the table and left to go into the kitchen.

Jai took one bite out of the paratha made by tony and made a face. This was by far the worst he had ever had. He slowly looked around and seeing noone around shoved tony's paratha away and took one of Bani's.

Rano was watching all this and grinned. It wouldn't be long before Jai mamaji swallowed his pride. She guessed that for Jai it would be far better than suffering tony's cooking.

It had been a week since Maasi's arrival. There was no change, except that Jai had forbidden Tony to cook for him and told him not to tell Bani about it.

"I'll make you eat your own handmade parathas for the rest of your life if you dare to step foot near the stove again!" Jai had told tony calling him into his study when Bani had been busy elsewhere.

Jai Bani did not speak to each other. They rarely ever came across each other. By the time Jai would return from his study Bani would be asleep or rather pretending to be on the floor turned away from him and the bed.

After he left for office Bani would leave to go to work, Massi had initially protested about this but Bani somehow managed to convince her.

" Par bahu tujhe kaam karne ki kya zaroorat??" Maasi had asked her.

"Maasi, I can't just simply sit around the house can I? There are so many servants here that I have absolutely nothing to do here. I'll be occupied." Bani had said.

Noone knew where Bani worked not even Jai. He didn't even bother to find out. But somehow or the other an envelope with his name written on it in beautiful slanting calligraphy containing the monthly rent they had decided upon earlier would find its way onto his desk on the 1^st of every month.

After a tiring meeting Jai Walia took a coffee break and proceeded towards a small caf quite close to his office. Many of his collegues had recommended it to him.

He walked in and saw that the coffee shop was almost full of people mostly youngsters enjoying some quality time in the cozy cubicles, dimly lit to keep their privacy.

The place had a refreshing and homely feeling to it. The dcor of the coffee shop was done beautifully with jars of coffee beans placed as decoration. Sweet music added to the ambience of the place. Each table had a bunch of white lilies placed in a vase.

The sweet smell of freshly powdered and brewed coffee engulfed him as a waitress escorted him to an empty table.

"Was this place opened recently? I've passed this way atleast a hundred times but I have never seen this place.." Jai asked the waitress.

"Oh no sir, This place has been here for the past five years. Nobody used to notice it before. It had been really shabby, we were running into a loss almost on the verge of closing it down." She said

"Closing??? This beautiful place? Why its better that even the Walia Cafs. I can't see how you be running into a loss why look at this place its almost full." Jai said astonished.

"Well sir, that was before she came. A girl about 21-22 yrs of age came looking for a job here. Of course the owner refused to give it to her because they were planning on closing but then she told them that she would help them redesign the whole place. And what a make over this caf had. Why she's our lucky charm." The waitress said a smile on her face.

"Well who is this girl you are talking about?? Must meet her." Jai said "Maybe she can do something for our cafs too…" he added to himself.

"She is our head chef now sir. Would you like to order something?? If you want I'll call her. She'll come in a while…quite a busy time sir." The waitress said

"Ok. Fine, I'll have a Mocha Latte and a plate of hot scones with blueberry jam." Jai said

"Ok sir, I'll get it right away." The waitress said taking his order down.

In a few minutes Jai walia was sipping his Latte and enjoying his scones.

The food was marvelous, even better than that of his five star restaurants.

The waitress came back and informed him that the head chef will meet him in a few minutes.

Bani did not notice who was sitting and relishing the food on table 4 as she made her way to meet the man who had asked to meet her.

"Good Morning Sir, I am the Head chef here. My name is Bani." She said extending her hand.

Jai turned his head to look at the person who had transformed the caf into something better than even his restaurants and was shocked to see Bani extending her hand to him looking shocked as well.

Jai was returning home from office. It was quite late as he had a very important meeting with some foreign delegates. He had stopped near a traffic light waiting for it to turn green. He remembered the day's events. He had not uttered a word to Bani in the caf and had quietly paid the bill and left in a daze.

Looking outside he saw the object of his thoughts standing in a bus stop a few metres away waiting for a bus to come. The light turned green. He drove towards her and stopped in front of her. Then lowering the glass told her in a stern tone.

"Get In" startling Bani.

"No, its ok main bus se aa jaongi Mr. Walia." She said quite afraid to be in the same car as him after the day's events.

"Get in" He repeated firmly.

She got in without another word.

"Why are you working in that caf?" He asked after a while.

She just looked at him not knowing what to say.

"I don't like repeating myself Bani." He said.

" I am working there because I didn't get a job anywhere else. I would not like to leave them as they are very nice people not quite like my previous employers." Bani answered looking away. But she senses Jai's grip tightening on the steering wheel and the clenching of his jaw.

" Nobody forced you to quit your previous job." Jai asked in a calm voice trying his best to control his anger.

"Yes, that's true but I didn't quite like my Previous Boss. He was quite a tantrum thrower you know…Totally Khadoos." With that Bani scores another point raising Jai's anger up a notch.

"Khadoos is it now??" Jai asked in a bitter sweet voice.

"Yes, Never appreciated a thing you did." Bani continued knowly very well that she was swimming in dangerous waters with nothing but a straw in her mouth.

"Well did you expect him to kiss you on the forehead and give you a golden star for your homework even if it was not satisfactory?" Point goes to jai.

"For him Nothing is satisfactory. " Bani scores.

"its not easy running a multi billion dollar organization when the employees do not give their best and come to work only to enjoy the perks and facilities given to them rather than to make the company scale greater heights."

"Well if you treat your employees as your friends rather than your slaves maybe they would"

"you are telling me that I don't treat my employees nicely??" Jai asked

"YES!! If you didn't always expect them to worship the ground you walked on and be rude to them everytime, bting off their heads whenever you get the opportunity, barking at them as if they were your slaves. Scolding them if they come late or early. You know what Mr. Jai Walia not everyone is born like you with a silver spoon in their mouth you know? Just because you have inherited all the money and riches from your parents without working for it whatsoever doesn't mean that you can treat everyone else who's working hard like filth." Bani said taking out all her frustration on him for the first time losing control and without thinking .

That did it. Jai totally lost control and started driving like crazy, breaking 2 red lights on the way. Bani was now really getting scared.

He continued driving like that till he reached a cliff in a secluded area and suddenly applying the brake making Bani hit her forehead on the dashboard.

"That teaches you to wear the seatbelt" Jai barked at her as he got out of the car slamming the door really hard. He went and sat on an old bench which was perched quite close to the cliff.

Quite shocked at his behavior Bani sits motionless in the car for a few minutes, then seeing that Jai was not soing anything quietly got out of the car.

Taking a deep she went to the bench were he was sitting looking at the sunset.

"Leave Me Alone" He said angrily sensing her coming towards him.

She didn't listen to him. She understood by his tone that he actually wanted her to do the opposite.

She slowly went and sat next to him. He turned his face away angrily.

"I'm sorry I talked to you like that, I sort of spoke without thinking…I'm Sorry" Bani said gently

He turned his head a bit and looked at her from the corner of his eye.

"I won't work in that caf anymore if you don't want me to" She said almost pleading.

When he still did not reply or look at her she gave up and got up to go.

"Sit" He said in a gently tone.

She did as she was told. He suddenly got up and went towards the car and came back with a first aid box in his hand.

He came and sat next to her. Turned her head holding her chin and looked at the wound which had almost healed but had started bleeding again when she hit her head on the dashboard.

Taking savlon on a bit of cotton he slowly wiped away the blood, pausing for a second as she flinced. He then blew on the cut slowly.

She closed her eyes as she felt his icy fresh breath on her forehead. There was absolutely no sound other than the distant chirping of the crickets and a chirp of a lazy bird in its nest somewhere in the far-off trees.

He dabbed a bit of skin ointment and dressed the wound. Her eyes were still closed. He let go of her chin. Then keeping the First aid box aside just sat silently looking at Bombay coming to life at night. The neon lights lighting up the city like a Christmas tree.

She slowly opened her eyes. Then felt the bandage on her forehead.

No one said a word 15 minutes passed in absolute silence.

"My grandfather JaiPrakash Walia had married a British woman called Ivy Rose. They were quite well off and could afford to live quite happily until their death in 1961. They had two sons Uday Walia, i.e. my father and Jagjeet Walia my uncle. Both married into the same family My dad married My mom Krishna and uncle married My mom's sister Balwinder Massi. They had been quite happy living in Punjab farming on the land left to them by my grandfather, that is until the great famine. My dad had been an MBA so he my mom and jigyasa didi who was just 10 at that time left for Bombay.

My dad tried soo many jobs, but always ended up getting fired from almost all of them due to his terribly short temper. I was born after a year, Jigyasa Di was about 11 at that time. We were living a very middle class life back then. I was a very carefree guy…Until I was 15 I wasted away my time not even studying properly and then from 15 to 18 years I had been working in the Le Meridian as a singer just so that I could earn a bit of pocket money and also to pay half of my college fees. Then when I was 18, on 31^st December 1989 something happened that changed my life forever, I can never forget that night…Nisha Had called me a loser and walked away. That day I decided that I would no longer sit idle wasting away my life, idecided that even I wanted to be something in my life wanted to stand on my own feet. I wanted to show her that I was not a loser. Then there was no looking back. Whateven I am today whatever name I have got is only because I worked really hard for it and not because I was born with a silver spoon in my mouth…. And you tell me that I don't treat my employees nicely…" Jai concluded sadly.

Bani simply squeezed his hand warmly and said "I'm really sorry Mr. Walia, I should not have said all those things without knowing anything. I am really sorry. I…I…really am. I did not mean to hurt your feelings…I am truly sorry. I…"

Jai stood up suddenly and went and sat inside the car and started it without a word….Then honked the horn.

Bani got up and sat inside the car.

Jai switched on the radio…

Jai couldn't understand the strange feeling he had started to have towards lately. Whenever he saw her there was this funny feeling in the pit of his stomach, it was definitely not guilt, but something else, Kind of like as if a huge load of caterpillars were let loose in his stomach. It was something he had never felt before…

"Might be Tony's cooking working up after a long time" he said dismissing the thought from his mind.

As he drove into the driveway of Walia Mansion he turned to Bani and said

"The conversation we had a little while ago never took place ok?"

Bani just nodded her head slowly.

"And don't read too much into what I did over there it was just that you were bleeding and I didn't want massi to ask too many questions." Jai added quietly as they got out of the car.

As they walked into the house Jai got the surprise of his life. Sahil who was standing along with Natalie and Valentine suddenly said "Mamaji Aa gaye.." and went and hugged Jai.

"Ye kaun hai mamaji?" sahil asked looking at Bani

"Ye Bani hai tumhari Mami" said maasi before Jai could say a word.

"Mamaji apne toh hume bataye bina hi shaadi karli?? Very bad ok?" Sahil said pouting at Jai. "well Bani mami, this is Natalie my wife, and valentine, our kid" Sahil said introducing them to Bani as Bani did a namaste to Natalie and ruffled valentine's short curls.

"Hey there kiddo, how old are you?" Bani asked valentine in a flawless American accent.

"I'm 7 yrs old. How bout you?" Valentine replied tongue in cheek.

"well don't tell anyone ok? It's a girl to girl thing.." Bani said whispering into Valentine's ear " Everyone thinks I am 21 yrs old but actually I'm only 7" Bani says winking at her.

Valentine also whispers into Bani's ears " Good then I always needed a partner in crime. Come lets go, I've got something to show you. I always wanted to surprise Granny…"

Valentine pulls Bani by the arm and takes her towards her room.

Jai just stares at Bani as she quietly follows Valentine looking 7 yrs old herself.

"Mamaji you better watch out by the time valentine is through with Bani she'll be turned into a prankster herself…well also look twice before you open anydoor or sit on any chair. The first time I went with Nat my soup had a huge spider in it." Sahil Told Jai

It was dinner time and Jigyasa had changed into a new saree as valentine had dropped water on the previous one. What she hadn't seen was valentine coming out of her room minutes before with a mysterious packet in her hand and a mischevious smile on her face. She came out and high fived Bani as both of them sniggered away to glory.

As Tony served dinner Jigyasa was telling sahil to keep an eye on Valentine as this time it was only water and not much harm done to her precious saree.

"aaj pata nahin kahan se ye macchar gus aye hain Walia mansion mein" Dadi said looking at Jigyasa

"What macchar?" Jai asked "I can't see or feel any.." he added looking around

"woh dekh Jigyasa kab se khujaye jaa rahi hai…maybe they like her blood but seriously Jigyasa ka khoon piyenge to toxicity se mar jayenge." Dadi said pointing at Jigyasa.

Bani and valentine looked at each other.

"Mama why are you scraching so much people will think that you have fleas or something" ranveer asked trying to keep a straight face after seeing the exchange between Bani and valentine.

"Pata nahin ranveer…my whole body has started itching…" Jigyasa replied scratching herself vigorously.

Hearing Jigyasa sahil drops his fork and starts choking on his food.

"Whats wrong dad…" Valentine asks sahil winking at him as he glares at her.

"oh god Jigyasa…what are you doing…control yourself" Jai says seeing Jigyasa pick up her fork and start scratching her back.

"I CAN'T STOP …ITS ITCHING SOOOO MUCH AHHHH" Jigyasa says scratching herself more vigorously.

Valentine starts laughing loudly….

"oh granny ….ha ha ha….i'm so sorry…ha ha…I cant stop laughing….ha…"

Jigyasa looks horrified at valentine's outburst…

"What….(scratch) did…(scratch) you…(scratch) DOOOO?" She asks valentine between scratches…

"oh nothing…I just added a few pinches of itching powder in your saaree…wanted to surprise you I guess…" she says winking at Jigyasa who has this terrified look on her face…. Jigyasa gets up and runs away…

The whole room bursts laughin as Valentine and Bani Give eachother a high five and a pat on the back…

"Try having a bath it'll go away…I hope…" Val shouts at the running Jigyasa.

"Good one" Dadi tells Val and Bani.

" That should teach her a lesson, thanks beta." Aditya tells valentine laughing at jigyasa's plight.

The only person who seems totally annoyed at the practical joke played by Bani and Valentine was fuming at the breach of etiquette at the dinner table.

He clears his throat loudly and says in a commanding tone.

"ENOUGH"

Everyone falls quiet and start to eat their food. Jigyasa joins them in 10 minutes in another saree but red all over due to the scratching. She simply glares at Bani and valentine.

"What a wet blanket that uncle is" valentine says to Bani with a nod of her head in Jai's direction.

" He sure is darling" Bani says winking at Valentine.
