The six-pack abs of his film days may not be back but Ram Kapoor looked fitter than before when he visited the capital recently. Is he feeling insecure seeing the new lot of fit actors on TV? He brushes the question off with a smile, saying, "Whenever I look at myself in the mirror, I tell myself that I have successfully worked on every aspect of my life but I've neglected health and fitness. And whenever I think this way, I am inspired to become the fitter me again." He maintains that rumours don't really affect him. A recent one has been about his rivalry with co-star Ronit Roy. He says, "Ronit and I had a hearty laugh about the whole issue. I could've easily shut up everyone but I believe in having the last laugh and not in retaliating." Ram is also excited about a recent telly awards show he hosted. On playing emcee, Ram had this to say, "It is always fun to host a show. You can say what you want to and be yourself. But I don't enjoy them more than acting." Live award shows do provide one ample opportunities to take pot shots at others, what does he feel about this? "I am above all this. I may lose my temper easily but I never target anyone," he says. And what did it feel like when Smriti and Ekta did the same to each other? "I've worked with Smriti in Kavita and am working with Ekta. Both are thorough professionals. Smriti knows what she wants and Ekta is a strict taskmaster," says Ram, smartly ignoring the real question. An actor who lives his onscreen characters fully has his plans set for future. He reveals, "An actor's life is for a maximum of 15 years. After that, I would like to produce non-fictional shows or maybe a talk show. I also have a keen interest in theatre. I believe in doing theatre for creative satisfaction and TV shows for money." And Ram says that it is his family that keeps him grounded. No wonder he rues the fact that he can't give much time to wife Gautami and daughter Sia. "I feel bad about failing to spend quality time with my family. But then I think that all that I am doing is towards a secure future for my family. I take an off every Saturday and plan two vacations in a year. I have Gautami's unconditional support and Sia has been very lucky for us. I have two-three Christmas surprises planned for them, but if I tell you, they will get to know, so, I am keeping mum about it," he says. |
