Taz: "I really wanted to see Jai slap that Kiran though! "

Lots of people wanted that but you know the slap is quickly forgotten, look at Jigs.

Anyway I think Nishikant gave her a fitting punishment. Men and women should never stand by there partners if they witness abuse by them.

Hey Kanta,

You ended the story...and it's a befitting end. The lovers are finally united and the social justice has been performed as well. As for punishing the guilty, I feel it is not up to us, but to the almighty.

Your statistics are scary, but yes, the distance between haves and have nots has been increasing dramatically. There you see, India making giant leaps in technology, industry and innovation on one side, and the rural areas still have social issues like class/caste barriers and superstitions about many things.

It takes education to free the mind from the darkness, and it is a slow process! If every educated person in India chooses to educate another through many of the volunteer organizations that are popping up, we will eradicate the illiteracy in 10 years. All it takes is one generation to be educated, they will educate their own children afterward.

Great story, thought provoking.

Yes volunteer agencies will do it, but what about the surplus the government is earning because of increase revenues from taxes, etc. The ones that are getting the subsides degrees leave the country and work abroad benefiting the outside country. Why not provide an equal chance to all, Cuba does it and it is one of the poorest country in the world.

wonderful ending loved the story it reflects such a true nature of our country
i will tell you a story of mine here when in 11th grade i started working with a social group that my college proffessor had started with some students like us who would give couple of hours of their life to educate the poor. we would go in weekends to the slum areas of mumbai to educate adults and childrens whoever wanted to learn at first it was difficult to get through them our supplies would get stolen by the gundas i was even robbed of what little money i use to carry with me we would also be rediculed and teased but we would never fail to go there every weekend it was this persistent effort that led them to open up to us and finally we had lots of kids attending the temporary school on the street after four years of struggle we could see the efforts put by us in the shape of a small school room i married and came to US and after many years when i met my pupil who now has become a doctor and was here in US for further studies on scholarship i could not but feel proud that i made a difference in someones life not with money because i myself did not have any i studied with scholarship and handout books, but with my time.
I volunteer at my sons school i teach kids that have difficulty in learning i tutor them in any areas they need help with and it is such a wonderful feeling something that i cannot express in words.
looking forward to read another of your wonderful ffs

Aimee what you did was good, you didn't have money, you donated time which even more precious. If everyone gave in whatever form the world would be a better place. Knowledge is to be shared.

What a wonderful end to an amazing emotional SS. Loved it to the end. It was an extra-ordinary story that kept me hooked to it. Articles were simply superb and the statistics are really alarming.

JB are at last united what more we could have asked for. As for Kiran for a minute I thought Kiran's last ghar would be "Hamara Ghar" but I think at the end of the day she would be punished by her God.

I am giving you an example her although I don't know if it's appropriate or not. I just would like to share a tiny experience of mine. You are right we do have laws for abuse against women. There was a case at the court where an abused woman wanted to get justice against her abusive husband. The husband was sentenced for couple of years. After hearing the verdict the woman herself fell on the feet of the judge and pleaded the judge to release her husband as she didn't have any place to go or no one was going to give her support financially in terms of taking care of her 5 kids. I do volunteer at some women's shelter and have been observing new form of abuse every time I go there. Women who come to the shelter were abused by their highly educated male counter part.

Kanta I am hoping that you would keep showering us with your magnificent writing skills more and more.

Thanks dear. It was a great read indeed.

Khusboo: "Women who come to the shelter were abused by their highly educated male counter part."

Who says the abuser are always illiterate and poor. Even the rich will abuse if they are not taught the wrong from the right. Violence is not a solution to a problem, its creates more problem. Teach children to respect, care and making good life choices.

Thanks so much for sharing.
