Jee Le Zaraa Is Happening
If Human Emotions could have been expressed in words, then probably it could have been easier to pen a review or comment about TFS…but you have encompassed so much in this story, that its impossible to put all my thoughts into a limited framework…will give it a shot though!
Raghav, Rey, Rumi, Ranveer, Nachiket, Tarun and Rano – I think we all need friends like them and just reading about these amazing characters made you feel that you have known them sometime in your life…in hindsight it is impossible to believe, that they were just the shadow characters of the story…because with them came humor, wit, charm and breeziness…while very much remaining an integral part of the main theme.
Roshni, Pia and Pushkar – The Grey Zone characters! Penned with absolute realism…No Black and Whites here…normal people who fail and falter like anybody else…and some realize their mistake and repent for it (Read Pushkar and Roshni) while some refuse to do so (Read Pia!)…The best part about their characters was how close they were to real life…in both their actions and reactions!
Jigyasa, Aditya, Massi, Tony, Jaya, Bahadur and Mrs. Shastri – The peripherals...Jigyasa stood apart with her typically, "Elder sisterly" character (very close to me) and also because she was so warm, so caring and so protective about Jai…something in her character just clicked for me! Tony as usual was a rock star! And Massi's (non) Cooking skill was something which really evoked a huge grin…especially cause at that time, Jai was behaving like an absolute jerk!
Jai and Bani – There cannot be a better Jai and Bani for me ever now…in them you brought out the perfect "imperfect" people / couple…in them you epitomized the triumphs and failures of life…the power of faith and hope and your dreams…the agony and ecstasy of falling love…Jai's character especially is the best male character I have ever read till date (and I am not just talking about FFs here…) His mood swings, his brooding nature, his temperament, his flaring anger, his icy detachment, his innate vulnerability, his ability to love and hate with equal ferocity, his insecurities, his pain, his pettiness, his success as a man and failure as a lover…everything was written to the minutest detail…sometimes even without putting actual words to them! Bani in turn was the perfect foil for Jai…both characters felt so alive, it was like a journey with two people whom you know inside out!
The Cathedral Scene – This scene was written early on in the story and has since then remained my favorite…this was simply the most poignant and achingly beautiful moment in this story…something I have read and reread again and again! The story of TFS begins with it and the two main characters meet there for the first time…besides the whole visual description, the interplay of lightness and dark, Sinatra's song…Bani's heartbreak, Jai's anguish…something's just go beyond description and I think this was just one of them!
Passion, Poignancy, Pain and Pathos…
Hurt, Humor, Humanity and Honesty…
Agony, Ache, Aggression and Anguish…
In writing the story of TFS and the characters of Jai and Bani, you evoked so many emotions and penned them perfectly! The underlying themes of Love, Pain, Betrayal and Loss was written with a great deal of sensitivity and understanding and in each character, you had expressed at least one human emotion in amazing depth and detail! Be it Rano or Jigyasa's sense of protection for their friend and brother or be it Pushkar's sense of guilt and regret or be it Raghav's humanness or Roshni's never-die-spirit…these were character who literally grew on you (aided by the fact, you took a good 5 months to finish the story!🤔)
The ending was just as poignant and befitting as the whole story…and so typically you…(That's a compliment btw!😉) Jai getting to know the 'truth' was both startling yet so natural…just went perfectly with the flow!
Besides, the way in which you had written the three's Bani's…Angel / Saraswati and Bani Dixit was incredible! And your description of the relationship that Jai shares with all the three of them was marvelous…His love for Saraswati's paintings…His longing for Angel and his Attraction towards Bani…all being one and the same person, yet so different!
It's a story which will always remain very, very close my heart…and I wish I could find better words to say 'Thank You' for writing it!😊
I am ending my comments with a song (sung by) Frank Sinatra…
Love is a many-splendored thing,
It's the April rose that only grows in the early spring,
Love is nature's way of giving a reason to be living,
The golden crown that makes a man a king.
Lost on a high and windy hill,
In the morning mist two lovers kissed and the world stood still,
When our fingers touch my silent heart has taught us how to sing,
Yes, true love's a many-splendored thing
With lots of Love,
MT
