Part 2
"Shhhhhh Bache did you give your mamma the letter", said Mr Walia hiding behind a beautifully decorated screen about 6 feet tall and heavily carved with dragons , bending down he looked through the craved spy holes and saw his beautiful wife with that adorable expression she called angry walking around looking in every room and asking every one about her husbands whereabouts, chuckling to him self he kissed Atharva and Krishna on the cheek, and gave them each a ladoos as a reward.
Giggling to him self he carried on watching pausing only to chew another piece of ladoo, as always Bani had made them and they tasted delicious all her love all her time and energy had gone in to making them and Mr Walia wasn't going to let the guest's eat them, and besides it was Diwali to hell with his diabetes he was going to indulge today and let his wife worry about the consequences, glancing quickly at his watch he noticed it was getting time for his surprise and Bani hadn't even read the letter yet. While her back was turned Jai quickly slipped up the stairs and ran up to the terrace, "Every thing ready Tony, I don't want any slip ups,"
Looking around the terrace, the floor was a bed of roses and the chilled champagne he asked for ready, Bani's favourite food warming nicely and the soloist violin player ready and waiting in the wings.
Mr Walia nodded at Tony extremely impressed with the arrangements and patted Tony on the back, "I always forget how good you are here, Tony", Mr Walia handed Tony his bonus for the year and Tony was surprised to see it was double from last year Mrs Walia's doing no doubt Jigyasa ma'am always kept a strict eye on things like that.
Glancing at his watch Mr Walia peered over the wall and looked at the front of his house the guest were all lining up to collect their cars and Jigyasa was waving them off all to enthusiastically, sighing Mr Walia hoped one day she would learn the value of family and not money specially with Diwali coming soon, peering closely he spotted Bani sitting on a bench in the front garden, far left, away from every one else, she was sitting on the same bench were she and he had spent many evening's watching the sun set and now watching their adorable children play, it was a special place, a place were he and Bani were most content with life.
Bani suddenly looked up at the terrace and Mr Walia bent down hiding behind the wall, peering over carefully till he saw her enter the house, giving some more instructions to Tony he slipped back downstairs and hid in a guest room, Bani had previously already looked in, changing out of his sherwani he picked up a smart suit he had hidden behind the door earlier, a black sharp suit and a crisp white shirt with a black tie , grabbing some gel he smooth his hair back and admired him self in the mirror, not bad but still he wondered some times if he truly deserved Bani, quickly dismissing the idea he peered out side the room seeing Walia mansion deserted he quietly made his way up stairs to see if everything was going according to plan.
In the Walia nursery Mrs Bani Walia was racking her brains, she must of got out of bed the wrong side today everything had gone wrong, firstly she woke early only to find Mr Walia's side of the bed empty and a strangely written note telling her he would have to leave early and that he would be back to help with the puja, also the caterers had been late and the pundit made extra demands on some items for the puja and her reliable Tony was no were to be seen, the last straw had been when she had gone in to the kitchen and found out that her hand made ladoos had vanished, Bani snapped out of her dream and continued patting her children to sleep but today they seemed restless and kept on giggling away, " What's the matter children why don't you go to sleep its late now."
"Mamma did you read the letter Pa…. I gave you", asked Krishna sweetly. Bani had almost forgotten it and picked It up from the children' night stand and re- read it again.
I love you with all I am
and all I'll ever be.
You are my moon, my sun and stars,
my earth, my sky, my sea.
My love for you goes down and down
beneath both life and death,
so deep it must remain when I
have drawn my last faint breath.
Holding you for months and years
Will make Time disappear,
Will make your lips my lips, your face
my face, your tear my tear;
Will make us one strange personage
All intertwined in bliss,
Not man or woman, live or dead--
Just nothing--but a kiss!
Meet me on the terrace at midnight not a minute before.
LOVE YOU
You're Mr Jai Walia
