By the time she came out jai had already taken his place on the side of the bed leaving plenty of empty space. Bani took a deep breath and layed at the other end. thinking what destiny has install for her she didnt notice when her eyes closed.

Morning

Bani woke up rubbing her eyes at first she didnt knew where she was but when she saw Him standing near the dresser she got back to reality and almost jerked up from bed. Jai turned when he saw bani waking up from the reflection "morning." he said like he usualy did bani bowing her head down whispered"good morning."then starring at the clock it stated 7:00 she wondered was she late or was he early anyway dismissing the thought she grabbed her sari and rushed inside the bathroom..

Bani came at the reception where jai had told her to come before coming out of the room. since bani was still applying her sindoor jai had got hold of the bag and had came down. clad in red and white silver sari she spotted jai. the two made their way towards their car to go back home..

Tanu came running to welcum her papa and mashi. she hugged whoever entered first which was her papa kissing him she said"papa. " on seeing bani she held her hand forward indicating to carry her which bani did and was rewarded by a kiss. bani touched massi's feet who blessed her. all three woman watched jai and bani inteadly yes they were right nothing had happened between the two.

At the breakfast table bani stood serving everyone when she noticed jai didnt have juice or tea "arre jiju apne jui.. she stopped half way realising what she had just called him. she bowed down as everyone stared at her even jai.she was used to calling him 'jiju' but now with their relation changed she was supposed to call him sumthing else but how will she ever do that."app juice lenge yah chai." she finally finished her sentence and was replied with same calm "juice." from jai.

Jai had a quick breakfast and went to the office much to massi's dismay. "bani beta tu upper room mein jake apna saman unpack karle tab tak mein tanu ko sambhalti hu" Bani noded and made her way towards jai and her di's room which was now called hers and jai's. opening the door she entered inside and couldnt help but just remember her moments spent here with sonali. spoting her bag kept near the cupboard she took it and kept on the bed and sitted herself. feeling the cold matress she stared at the two pillows on the bed and she imagined jai and sonali laying on them. tears fall from her eyes but she rubbed them hurridly.now this was her life she was supposed to leave in her Di's room and sleep on her Di's bed with her Di's husband. and the thought killed her.

Dismissing more thoughts she unpacked her stuff and opened oneside of the cupboard and found it empty. she kept her belongings there and went down.

The day went ok with bani since she got busy with tanu feeding her playing with her. she even laughed with her but soon stopped.

Evening Jai had come back from office looking tired. Massi told bani to go give water to jai which bani half heartly agreed and gave him water. Having dinner together where bani made sure she doesnt do anything like she did in the morning bani took tanu in her arms and was going in her room and make her sleep when jigyasa came "arre bani let tanu sleep with me today." and surprisingly tanu went to jigyasa since she was already half asleep.

saying their good nights jai and bani went in the room. jai locked the door as bani kept starring at the bed and then at the tiled floor.jai took a look at bani for a second making sure she was alright. he took off his watch and wallet and kept them in the drawer of their dressing table taking his nightsuit he went in the bathroom to change. Bani also changed in the room itself while jai was still inside the bathroom she again stared at the bed and remembered sonali mentioning that she used to sleep at the right side of the bed. bani flinched remembering it and decided to sleep at the left side. the right side was of her Di she could not take it she didnt even wanted to take her place her right in the first place. crawling inside the bed at the left side she noticied only one comforter then one sheet also she opted to cover herself with sheet and leave comforter for jai.

Resting her head on the pillow with much much effort she covered herself with the thin sheet and closed her eyes. Jai finally came out of the bathroom and just kept looking towards the bed where bani was sleeping no actually pretending to sleep he had noticed when he opened the bathroom door he saw her rubbing her tears and shut her eyes. she had covered herself till her chin, Jai came forward and covered bani with the comforter and took his place at the other side of the bed. laying down he turned to face bani.

Bani had hurridly rubbed her tears and closed her eyes when she heard the bathroom door to open. she kept still until she felt him sleep as well. feeling he must be drifting by now she opened her eyes slowly only to meet with his and she again hurridly shutted them and turned the other way.

Jai closed his eyes after sometime lost in his thoughts. after an hour or so jai heard a sniffing sound he hurridly opened his eyes and turned to look at bani who was trembling. crying her heart out... she was still facing the other side but jai could make out that she was crying. Bani held her hand to her mouth to make sure no sounds come out of her crying. she wasnt liking this. Right now she was sleeping in her Di's bed with her Di's husband didnt it sounded cheap. no matter what bani could never come to terms that her Di was no more and now jai wasnt just her jiju but her husband too.

She had never dreamded that a day like this would come.yesterday staying in the hotel room didnt feel that uneasy for bani but today... may be that was the reason why massi and others wanted them to spent time out. The soft matress felt like stone to her skin. she cried and cried until she felt a warm hand on her shoulder.

Jai kept quiet for a while he wanted her to cry everything out but then she wasnt stopping and the way she was trembling he just couldnt stop himself from turning her.Bani turned as soon as his hand touched her shoulder. starring at each other for a second jai spoke"bani.. bas karo dont torture yourself like this plzz. "he sounded hurt

Bani rubed her tears with the back of her hand only to welcum more set of tears"i.. i cant mein Di ki jagah nahi le sakti. yeh sab unka hai. " Jai sitted up and made bani sit up as well holding her hand he politely said"bani tum sonali ki jagah nahi le rahi ho. tumhari jagah is ghar mein aur mere dil mein pehle se hi thi. then he added in a slow voice "ha shayad patni ke roop mein nahi par bani tum khud janti ho u have always been close to me. tumhe sonali ki jagah lene ki zarurat bhi nahi hai bani. tum jaisi ho we are happy with it. tum apne appko dosh maat do we are together for tanu."

Bani stared at jai as he held her hand and stroked it. she saw the same affection in his eyes back as he first had when they were sharing a 'jija sali' relationship. she knew watever he said right now was said as a friend. rubbing her tears he said"now sleep." Bani layed down as he covered her once again with the comforter and he layed himself as well.

Bani was left thinking wethere will she ever be able to give jai a wife's heart and a husband's right.she shutted her eyes with that thought and drfited off to sleep

Next Morning

Bani was the first one to wake. with jai still sleeping she tip toed and went to take a quick shower. coming out all clean clad in orange color sari she combed her hair and applied her sindoor. she started to go out of room when she stopped and felt like she was forgetting something or may be not wanting to do something. taking slow steps towards the cupboard she opened the other side which she had never touched till today and saw his cloths in it. she kept starring at the tons of shirts hanging on the hanger along with his suits and then some pants and many more things.

Taking out a white color shirt with brown pants she stared at the hanger when a deep male voice spoke "yeh shirt mein parties mein pehenta hu aur pant i dont like brown colors." said jai as he sitted up adjusting his hair back with his fingers. bani turned abit and bowed her head down "good morning." was all she could say and return back the cloths she had taken out. still having the urge to select something else this time she took out a black blazer with black pant and light blue color shirt to go with it. keeping it abit forward to let him know she was waiting for his aproval or disaproval he stood up and said "emm yah thats fine."

Bani kept them on the bed she had already seen a black towel in the bathroom so no need to get it. still one thing was missing and she didnt knew where it was kept she couldnt even ask him. as he approaced her somehow knowing what she was thinking bani pulled her hand back which was holding the cupboard blocking his way. He leaned abit down and grabbed his cream color boxer from the second shelf. This was what bani was finding so now he had clearly told her where he keeps 'them'. she bowed her head down acting as if she didnt even saw the color of 'it' leave aside knowing which type he wore. taking his cloths he went in the bathroom...

Bani closed the cupboard and remembered him putting his watch and wallet in the drawer. she took them out and kept them on the bed. She heard someone knock softly on their door .when she went to open the door she was surprised to see tanu there with her blanket "mummy?.." she said.. Bani's smile vanished from her face as she lifted tanu in her arms.

Tanu peeped inside the room as if finding her mummy. bani took tanu inside making her sit on the bed.tanu again asked"mummy?" Bani didnt knew what she could say to this little girl. lucky enough at that moment jai stepped out of the bathroom and smiled warmly on seeing tanu "hello mera beta."he stroked tanu's cheeks and went towards the dresser to comb his hair. "mummy.?" again tanu asked but this time to jai. jai stopped doing watever he was doing and turned to face both tanu and bani.

Jai came and sat beside bani on the bed and made tanu sit on his lap"apko pata hai apki mummy apse bohot pyaar karti hai. itna pyaar ke woh apko do do mummy ka pyaar dena chahti thi. usne na tumhari bani mashi ko tumhari mummy banadiya aur khud bhagwaan ji ke paas chaligayi." jai didnt knew what he was saying and wether the little girl was understanding anything or not. Tanu just kept looking at jai and then at bani without saying anything she shifted to bani's lap and hugged her. Both jai and bani stared at each other then at tanu. hoping the girl would understand their dilema.

Coming down for breakfast Bani gave jai his juice and sat beside him to have her breakfast with tanu sitting on her lap. With jai going to the office bani always got busy with tanu she played with her and today when the two were alone bani told tanu to call her 'mamma' but tanu kept on chanting 'mashi' 'mashi' bani wanted to hear mamma from tanu and not mummy coz tanu's mummy is sonali and she wants it to be like that all she wants to be is tanu's mamma.

Today bani insisted that tanu will sleep with them. much to jigyasa and massi's dismay tanu had already been half asleep as it already was past 9:00 bani took her in the room and placed her in the middle. she changed in her nightie and layed beside tanu bringing her close to her chest she knew tanu likes to sleep this way more. While thumping on tanu's chest jai came inside the room and for a minute kept starring at bani and tanu both laying close to each other some how instead of bani he imagined sonali doing it. he shook his head in negative and went inside the bathroom to change.

Before shutting the lamp jai caressed tanu's cheeks as bani opened her eyes and kept starring at jai. for some odd reason when jai bend to kiss tanu's forehead bani felt touched she knew jai everynight kissed tanu before sleeping and she even knew one more thing which sonali had jokingly told her that her 'jiju' never went to sleep without getting a kiss and the way she had said bani didnt have to guess where sonali kissed jai every night.Bani bit her lower lip punishing her for thinking about something like this wondering why she rememberd all these. Jai saw bani starring at him with longing eyes. his lips broke into a gently smile and he bend to place a soft kiss on bani's forehead as well.. the kiss was tender and bani had to remind herself that this wasnt a kiss from her husband but from her friend come husband.

Bani had kept trying and ask tanu to call her 'mamma' but tanu always called her 'mashi' she had been talking playing with her for quiet few days now. life had been on its usual routine.

Everyday morning bani woked up first and layed out jai's cloths and yes his boxer too. she had done it once and with him not saying anything she had started doing it everyday.serving him breakfast and sending lunch at the office. they all had dinner together. Kiran too had left to pune saying she couldnt stay for long at her daughter's in-law.

Life had been going easy. for past one year Jai and bani had not changed abit they shared the same relation of being together yet so far. The only relationship which changed was bani and tanu's in this one year tanu one day started calling bani 'mamma' which had brought tears in bani's eyes. it was a day when bani was serving the breakfast and tanu had came pulling her sari pallu"mamma chai." it had brought tears in bani's eyes as she hugged tanu. everyone present at the breakfast table had admired the scene even jai was happy.

Tanu had started going to school and today her teacher had helped her draw 'her family' which included her papa mamma and little tanu standing in between. Bani had been really excited seeing the drawing and had showed each and every member.

At dinner time tanu brought up the drawing topic"papa i did drawing. me you and mamma. "tanu sounded proud as if she had done a great great job. jai had patted her cheeks in encouragement. while bani smilling feeded her the biscuits but soon the smile vanished as massi said"ha happy family. abh bas bhagwaan ne chaha to is ghar mein phirse ek nanhe bache ki kilkaria sunade." Bani's face paled while jai shot a glare towards massi and turned to look at bani.Her hands trembled as she concentrated on feeding tanu

JIgyasa opened her mouth to add to it but when she saw the angry glare from jai she just bowed down and tucked into her food.

Dinner got over and bani took tanu in her arms to go in their room the brat wasnt in the mood to sleep and still holding the drawing she kept starring at it. Bani changed in her nightie and was casually playing with tanu on the bed. Jai came in after some time and sat on the bed beside tanu who turned and happily said"papa. baa(massi) said mamma bring baby for me." (massi had told tanu this when she had gone to show the drawing "bohot accha drawing hai beta abh bas jaldi se tumhari mamma ek baby dede tumhare papa jaisa")Bani bowed down when tanu climbed on her lap and said"mamma u will bring baby na. i love babies. small one and cute also just like me no baa(massi) said like papa"

Bani broke down crying and hugged tanu"no beta. mama tumhe yeh nahi desakti. tumhari mamma bohot burri hai she cant give you this. tumne mujhse pehli baar kuch manga and i cant give you that. tumhari mamma mein itni takat nahi hai. i m sorry" she pulled apart and kissed her forehead with tears rolling down. The first thing jai thought was to have a "discussion' with massi over this topic making a fist of his hand he calmed down and held tanu's face in his palms"beta apki mamma burri nahi hai,burra to mein hu meine hi mana kardiya ke dekho mujhe baby nahi chahiye mere liye tanu hi kaffi hai agar dusra baby shararti huwa toh. we cant handle two two kids now can we."jai tried to act funny and at the same time make tanu understand them.

Tanu soon drifted off to sleep while bani had layed beside her lost. jai was reading a file or was trying to do it but just shutted it and held bani's hand making her sit up in a whisper tone he said"bani. ill talk with massi tum fikar maat karo u dont have to do what ur heart doesnt agree to" Bani after hearing this somehow felt relifed she had started to wonder what if jai wanted a kid she would never be able to go through all that never.....

Morning when jai had stormed inside massi's room to talk about this baby issue he was taken aback when he saw massi laying on bed looking ill. jigyasa came inside the room with the bowl of soup. jai held jigyasa's arm and asked"massi ko kya huwa." "woh kaal raat se unki tabiyat kuch thik nahi hai bukhar sa hai aur blood pleasure high hai" said jigyasa in hushed voice as massi was now sleeping after many hours of awaking in pain. The first thing jai did was call the doc to examine massi.

When bani came to know about massi's illness she had run in her room to see massi who was looking lifeless with dark circles under her eyes and was having her soup which jigyasa was forcing her to have.

The doc came and didnt say much infront of massi but when alone with jai he finally spoke"mr walia billo ji's health is not that well. she seems to be having alot of tension or may be she is worried about something. yeh sab is ummar mein accha nahi hai it is affecting her health. i m sorry to say par agar yahi haal rahega toh billo ji ki zindagi khatre me parsakti hai. " Jai looked shocked with bani behind him not believing what she just heard.Bani kept her hand over jai's shoulder after the doctor left the next thing bani saw was tears in jai's eyes as he broke down hugging bani"bani.. i cant leave without massi she has to be fit and fine. meine pehle hi bohot kuch kho diya hai abh massi ko khone ki himmat nahi hai. bani massi is like my mother i cant see her in pain. "

Bani swalloned hard trying to not breakdown not atleast when jai needed her. she had made him sit on the sofa and brought water for him"app chinta maat kijiye ill speak to massi. hum sab hai na unka khayal rakhne ke liye she will be fine."

That day evening bani had made the soup for massi and jigyasa told her to take it herself and talk with massi since she wasnt saying anything to her. entering inside the room massi opened her eyes as she heard the sound of plates and spoon on seeing bani she broke into a weak smile as bani sitted beside her and gave her the bowl of soup.

Massi slowly started to drink the soup when bani softly spoke"massi apko kya chinta khaye jarahi hai.app aise achanak se bimar." "Kuch nahi hai beta abh ummar hogayi hai isiliye yeh sab bimari." said massi. bani's eyes well up with tears "massi mujhe yaad hai Di hamesha kaha karti thi ke app usse ek maa ki tarha pyaar karti hai. par massi kya app mujhe bhi beti manti hai kya mujhe bhi ek maa ki tarha pyaar karti he app.?" she said witha broken voice. massi hurridly kept her hand over bani's head and said "bani beta tum ro kyu rahi ho. aur tumse kisna kaha ke mein tumhe apni beti nahi manti. tum aur sonali dono mere liye ek jaisi ho."

Bani rubbed her tears and stared at massi "toh phir apni is beti ko batayenge nahi ke app ko kya chinta hai. agar app mujhe apni beti hi mante hai toh mujhe bateyengi" massi didnt know now what to say after hearing to bani's words she had to tell her truth. she kept the bowl aside and softly spoke"beta mujhe tum dono ki chinta hai tumhari aur jai ki. mein tum dono ko sukhi dekhna chahti hu. aise parayo ki tarha zindagi guzaroge to kaise chalega. tum dono ajj bhi ek dusre ko pati patni ki tarha nahi dekhte yeh mujhe takleef deta hai. tum dono ek chhat ke niche ek hi kamre mein rehkar bhi alag ho.aur bani i know i m sounding selfish par beta mein tumhe sukhi dekhna chahti hu tumhe shaadi shuda zindagi ke sare sukh bhogte huwe dekhna chahti hu tumhe ek maa ke roop mein dekhna chahtihu mein tumhare aur jai ki aulad ko dekhna chahti hu."

Bani was stunned to hear all this "massi app hamare barre mein itna maat sochiye. app apni sehat ka khayal karyi app janti nahi hume kitni takleef hoti hai apko aise dekhte huwe." "beta agar mujhe aise nahi dekhajata to meri dawa karro aur woh dawa tumhari khushi hai tumhari aur jai ki." spoke massi and then added "bani mujhe is ghar mein ek aur bache ki awaaz sunni hai. Tanu ko ek bhai yah behen ki zarurat hai jo tum usse de sakti ho tum aur jai. beta mein tumhe apni beti manti hu aur ek maa ke jaise tumhe apne pati ke sath sukhi dekhna chahti hu tumhare bache ko apni godh mein khelana chahti hu. "

Tears flew more from bani's eyes as she in a begging voice said"nahi massi. app mujhse kuch bhi mang lijiye par yeh nahi hoga.mein unke sath.. bacha nahi massi plzz. mein yeh kabhi nahi bhulsakti ke meri jisse shaadi huwi hai woh meri Di ke pati hai. " "jai sonali ka pati tha bani. abh woh tumhara pati hai aur uss nate tumhara uspe purra haq hai. mein janti hu tum dono ka bacha hi tum dono ko paas layege." said massi

Bani broke down with noding her head in negatvie "nahi massi i cant do this .." saying so she run towards her room still crying. Unnoticing jai who was standing near the door and had heard every single talk between her and massi. He went inside the room and sat beside massi and held her hand in between his "massi meine apki aur bani ki battein sunli. massi mein apki bhawnao ki kadar karta hu par app hamare nazariye se sochiye. mein aur bani ek rishte mein bandhe hai jo hum dono ko manzur nahi tha hum ajj ek hai to sirf tanu ki wajahse. app meri maat sochiye par bani woh ladki jo mujhe 'jiju' bulati thi app usse hi mere bache ki maa banne ko kehrahi hai."

Massi stared at jai not knowing what to say. yes she could understand jai and bani's situation also but all she thought was for their better she felt if for once jai and bani becomes one things might start going well between them.before she could say anything jai left the room.

Bani cried hididng her face in the pillow. she could never think of carrying jai's child her jiju's child massi's words repeated in her mind where she had clearly told her that jai WAS sonali's hubby which makes now jai isnt her jiju any more.she could clearly see jai's crying face when he came to know about massi's health. she didnt knew what to do all she knew was how could she ever do it.?

Bani sitted up when she heard the door open and jai stepped inside the room. she rubbed her tears and started to walk past him when he spoke"meine tumhari aur massi ki battein sunli." Bani turned in shock. "i m sorry for all that she said. meine unse baat karli hai u dont worry ajj ke baad is ghar mein bache ki baat nahi hogi." his voice was firm yet a feeling of sadness was there too.. Bani bowed down and stepped out of the room to see tanu.

Few days went by and massi's health wasnt changing it kept getting worse but nothing good. from the day after jai's talk massi never said anything to bani about child. But bani could see the hopefull eyes of massi starring at her whenver she went around she still had a hope. massi didnt say but her eyes always asked bani.

Later that evening massi's health got even worst as she started to have problem breathing. the doctor was called home immediately as aditya and jai rushed back to home from the office. Jigyasa had already told the doctor about massi's state when she had dialed his number so the doc had came with all his equipements. hurridly putting on the oxygen mask he gave an injection where massi fel into deep sleep.

Bani had not stop crying from the moment massi's health got worst she was feeling guilty thinking it was all coz of her. massi wasnt reacting to any medicines coz bani knew her actual medicine was her, she had brokedown even more when she had seen jai putting his head on massi's hand and cry. how could she be this selfish why was she adampt on taking massi's life why was she being the reason for jai's tears why..

Few hours later the doctor took off the oxygen mask as massi was now feeling better and not having any breathing problem. the Doctor sugested to admit massi in the hospital when bani had refused saying let massi be at home alteast for 2 more days after it if she doesnt feel any better then they can admit her.jai was surprised on to why bani said such thing but not questioning her he agreed to it.

Bani took tanu in the garden where the two sat. "tanu tell me if i ever be sucessfull to bring a baby will you ever think that i forgotted my Di. i forgotted that the baby's father is none other then my jiju. will i be doing a sin." tanu kept looking at bani not understanding what all these meant "baby." was all tanu said with a cheerful sound . Bani tooka deep breath finally getting her answers.

Massi finally woke up from her sleep as bani sat beside her jigyasa and aditya took tanu and left the room leaving jai and bani alone with massi. since bani was there with massi jai thought it was wise that he also left he took a step to go but stopped as he heard bani's soft voice saying sumthing to massi."massi agar mein app ka kaha manjawu toh kya app hamari chinta karna chhordegi apni sehat ka khayal rakhengi.?" Jai turned in shock while massi's eyes became moist with happiness as she happily noded in approval" ha beta. mein apna bohot dhyaan rakhungi zara chinta nahi karungi." Bani tooka deep breath and said "app mujpe vishwaas rakhiye. mujhse jitna baan parega mein utna karungi bakki kismat ke hath me. abh app aram kijiye jigyasa didi soup lati hi hongi chup chap se pilijiye ga."

Massi happily noded and bani turned to leave when her gaze went on jai's still shocked face she could make out he was angry too. bowing her head down she wispered"chaliye." fumming jai stormed in his room while bani feeded tanu and for the first time she herself took tanu to jigyasa's room and requested if she agreed to let tanu sleep with her for today. jigyasa was really happy and obiously took tanu in her arms promising her that she will tell her new stories. before bani started to go jigyasa turned and affectionally placed her palm on bani's cheeks whispering "good night."

One year leap took place...Wow...😛 Tanu has grown up...She must be a really sweet little kid...Awww...She drew her family...😃

Poor Maasi...She had grown so ill thinking about her beti and beta...😭 Felt so sorry for her...😭 Bani is just too sweet...Loved the way she accepted Maasi's wish and is going to try and fulfill it, even though her heart is not in it...😭 She is thinking about others...😃 Really, well done Di...👏 Extremely enjoyed it...😃
