Jai and Bani were leaving for work when Raashi stopped them, "Mama, Ranveer has invited Meera for dinner tonight so could you and mami come home early please."
Bani grimaced at Raashi who just smiled back sweetly at her.
In the car, Bani grumbled about having to cut her day short to get home early just so as to entertain someone. Jai smiled to himself, she was getting irritated to easily lately. May be he should book her into a spa, give her chance to relax and distress and mentally made a note to get his PA to get it done.
In the evening everyone made home at a reasonable time. Raashi with the help of masi and dadi had everything prepared for the evening and everyone just relaxed waiting for Meera to arrive.
Meera arrived looked pretty in a pink sari, her long silky hair flowing. She did not arrive alone as accompanying her was a tall young man, extremely good-looking or as Raashi whispered to Bani, "Wow and Indian Brad Pitt." Bani just grimaced not happy.
The young man smiled at the group as he and Meera came towards them. He touched masi and dadi's feet as he greeted them. Meera introduced him as her good friend, Daksh from States, who was visiting her for few weeks.
Daksh playfully pulled her close to him and told them, "Actually I have come in hope of persuading Meera to marry me. But looks like my work is cut out seeing how easily she has settled in India. No wonder she doesn't want to come back to California when she has all you wonderful people in her life."
Meera blushed deep red and pulling out of Daksh's arms she reprimanded in a hushed voice to behave himself. Raashi beamed her smile at Meera, "Wow Meera, you are one lucky lady to have a man chase you half way around the world." Meera fumbled for words whilst Daskh just laughed and said, "I am the lucky one Raashi…really to have found someone like Meera."
Bani felt sorry for Meera being put in an embarrassing situation. She turned to Jai and told him "Why don't you get them something to drink Jai?"
Raashi helping Bani in the kitchen with snacks, "Mami don't you think Daksh is hot."
Bani rolling her eyes, "Raashi you are pregnant with Ranveer's child and want to hanker after another guy."
Raashi teasingly, "Mami there in nothing wrong in admiring a sexy guy. I am not hankering after him. Just saying Meera is should grab him before someone else does."
Bani carrying the tray out of the kitchen, "We will let Meera decide on her own, she doesn't need our advice."
Raashi pulling her to a stop whispered, "Mami I know you were jealous of Meera. You saw mama with a beautiful girl and assumed the worst of mama."
Bani paled and looked at Raashi uncomfortably, "Raashi I made a mistake and I hate myself for what I did to Jai. So please don't say anything more."
Raashi just followed Bani out just glad that Bani was feeling guilty and thanking quietly that Daksh had decided to follow Meera to India. At least now mamaji won't be stressed out wondering what's wrong with Bani.
The evening turned into fun as Daksh told them all about his life, his family and friends back in States. His anecdotes had them all laughing, including how he met Meera and her reluctance initially to even talk with him.
It was rather late when Meera and Daksh left with Daksh promising to visit them again or rather hinting next time they met it would be at his engagement earning him yet another black mark from Meera.

Jai was already in bed when Bani stepped into the room. She looked a little tense and Jai looked at her giving her an inquiring look. Bani didn't say anything but went into the bathroom. Fiften minute she came out and slid into her side of the bed and went to turn off the lamp when Jai stopped her. "Do you want to tell me what's wrong Bani? Don't say nothing because I can tell something has upset you."
Deciding it was better to come clean and get it out of her system, Bani confessed to him about being jealous of Meera. Jai listened to everything she said quietly, reflecting that he did not help the situation by ignoring her and coming home late.
"Bani I am sorry if I behaved in a way to make you feel threatened. I only love you and no one else can ever take your place in my heart. Don't ever think I can look at another woman the same way as you."
Bani burst into tears as Jai took her in his arms and he just held her until she stopped. She stepped out into the bathroom and washed the tears off and came back with a shy smile. As she slid into the bed, Jai pulled her close to him and both of them wrapped their arms around each other and fell asleep.
THE END
This ff has now ended. Meera was never a threat to Jai and Bani. She was brought into the ff to kind of keep up with the serial and since today the JB jodi has once again split there is no point in keeping this going.
