As Jai continued to sit there, watching the waves crash on to the shore, he felt oddly calm. He felt peaceful looking at the waves, as Roshini blabbered on about something. He looked up occasionally to address a waiter or for something else, other than that he kept to himself, only nodding, when Roshini was stopping.
Bani hurried to her friends, who were sitting in a corner. They already ordered the food and it arrived shortly. Bani was thankful… But, Pia and Rano, were not in the mood to forgive her so easily. She had to get out of it… but she knew that both of them had something up their sleeve…
R: so, we were thinking Bani…
B: about what?
P: about how we should punish you since you are late, when you PROMISED to be on time…
B: but, I was caught up…
R: doesn't matter, a mistake is a mistake…
B: okay…no point arguing, I am really really sorry girls, won't happen again…
P: not easy missy… we have a dare for you… and we forgive you, if you do it…
B: okay what is it??
R: YOU have to go to a guy and talk to him for a few minutes and have HIM kiss you on the cheek… and you are not suppose to say to him that this is a dare and that you are doing it because we are insisting…
B: what?? I can talk alright, but kissing???
P: yup… nothing comes easy darling… have to pay for your lateness…
B: but, can't I pick the guy?
P: nope… we already picked him for you…
B: who??
Both Pia and Rano looked around for the guy, who they spotted earlier and decided to make Bani do this dare with him. But apparently he left!
P: Rano, pick another guy… I will just be back!!
Saying that Pia left for the washroom, when Rano scanned the restaurant, for a suitable guy. And then she found a man, dressed in black, looking devislishly handsome. He was having dinner with, probably his girlfriend, and Rano smiled wickedly! But there was something familiar about him… she spotted him somewhere, and can't remember where
R, pointing to Jai: there!! Its him
B, looking at jai: but he has his girlfriend here… he won't even look at me, forget talking and then kissing!!
R: why do you think I picked him? He is handsome, and doesn't look like the flirting type and more than that he has a girlfriend already. Now, you better go and get started. Oh and you HAVE to talk for atleast ten minutes.
Rano nudged Bani to get up and go. Bani slowly got up and started praying to god, to make her, go through this easily. She just needs to get him to kiss her, without asking him to. Gosh, she thought. This Pia and Rano think too much… but I will get back at both of them for this.
As Bani walked towards this Bani, puting on a bright smile and hiding her nervousness deep inside. But to her luck, the weird lady got up to probably attend the ladies room. Bani decided to finish this dare, before the lady comes back! So, she fastened her pace and reached the table.
And the man looked up. He had muddy brown eyes and he was as Rano, said handsome, no doubt. But it was mystery to Bani, as to why he was wearing all black… not that she was complaining… the colour complimented him… meanwhile, Pia came back. She was astonished to see who Rano picked.
P: do you realized who he is? He is the great Jai Walia… but he has a bad temper, just hope Bani survives this…
R: oh!! That how I know him
P: duh!! Everyone knows him… pray for Bani though
R: relax… Bani will do fine…who could turn down a beautiful girl
P: Jai Walia can… he has all the top models at his feet, and he never accepted any one… why would he care for an ordinary girl… and Bani, stopped appearing in the media almost two years ago!!
R: who cares about Bani's appearance in the media… as long as she gets a kiss from him!!
As Pia and Rano looked on eagerly, Bani's heart was hammering! She was on a time limit and she had to achieve an almost impossible task. Jai, however, noticed her instantly as the pretty girl, who walked in… He was surprised to see her in front of him, smiling brightly… without a care in the world… but, there was something familiar about her…
B: hi! I am Bani (she hates saying her name cause she will be known as Nishikant's daughter)
Jai didn't say anything. He was trying to figure out where he saw her….
B: do you mind if I sit here? Actually, my boyfriend was suppose to be here, and he didn't exactly show up yet…
J: yeah sure…
Bani sat down, much Pia and Rano's shock. Their friend was doing well…
The only thoughts running through Bani's head was, how was she suppose to get him to kiss her. This was too much… talking was fine, but kissing… And to Jai, it finally dawned to him that he saw her on TV… as the famous industriliast, Nishsikant Dixit's daughter…
J: aren't you Bani Dixit, Nishikant Dixit's daughter??
B: yes… so, what brings you here today?
J: Oh… I came here for a nice dinner… this is one of my favourite restaurants…
B: yeah, its mine as well… I just love the view…
J: do you come here often?
B: yeah… this place always cheers me up, since I have many memories connected to it…
J: really… do you always come here with your boyfriend?
B: ummm… not always, ummm… he prefers discos and hyper places like that…
J: and what about you?? You don't like them?
B: it depends… sometimes, I do… sometimes I don't
J: can I know his name??
B: ummmmm… P…Pushkar
J: strange… even I know a guy named Pushkar… And he is a very hyper type of boy, even though he knows his responsibilities… maybe, it's the same person…
B: no…no, I don't think soo… ummm, he actually returned from America a few days ago…
Bani was making up this whole thing… She just prayed to get away with this. She only had to get him, to kiss her… she thought Guys would fall at her feet… but right now, her opinion is totally wrong. And this guy, knowing Pushkar is really weird. Both of them were good friends, and he was the first person, who came into her mind…
Jai on the other hand, was getting more and more intrigued towards this mysterious girl. She just pops up, out of no where, even though he saw her walk in the restaurant… and introduces herself and starts a conversation with him. Its really weird, he thought. And she doesn't even know I am Jai Walia… and I am not even going to tell her…
J: so, what college do you go to?
B: oh no no… I work… I finished my degree
J: really… you seem really young
B: thank you for the compliment… but your talks are very matured compared to your age… how old are you??
J: 27…
B: really?? Wow!! I am sure you must have a lot of admirers…
J: admirers??
B: yes… I mean with looks like that… I am sure you must have many…
J: thank you… I get a lot of compliments.. but mostly on my work… and you are really beautiful… I am sure, you have heard that a lot of times… and it is true…
B, blushing: thank you… what work do you do?
R: Jai?
Jai was just about to answer, when Roshini came back from the washroom… She was shocked to see Jai talking to another girl…
J: Roshini… I was just passing my time, since you take too long in the washroom…
Bani could see clear dislike in Jai's voice.
R: but that doesn't mean that you invite another person??
J: I can do whatever I want… and besides, She was waiting for some one, so I decided to give her company…
R: you can atleast introduce me…
J: Bani… this is Roshini… and Roshini, this is Bani…
B: umm… its okay, you guys can enjoy your dinner, I will just leave…
J: but, you borfriend isn't here…
B: its okay… I will call him… please don't worry…
J: its perfectly, okay for you to join us…
B: no no… I will just leave… thanks for the company Mr…
J: For you just Jai…
B: thanks Jai…
Just as Bani was about get up, Jai took her hand and gave her a kiss, like a gentlemen…Bani was over the moon, she won the bet… Now, she can't wait to rub this in Pia and Rano's face…
Bani just smiled and got up, a bit too quickly. Just then a waiter was passing by, with hot soup and Bani's hand accidently knocked over the soup and the bowl went flying through the air, and spilled on Roshini…
Her shrieks were heard through the wole restaurant, as the soup stained her clothes and face. Jai just smiled and his amused Bani… He was suppose to help his girlfriend, though she doubted that a lady like Roshini could be this man's choice… And to some extent Bani was happy to 'accidently' knock over the soup… she got to see a smile on his face…
Before anything else could happen, Bani quickly apologized and walked away. She, Pia and Rano, paid the bill and walked out of the restaurant. As Bani looked back, she saw Roshini getting all hyper, while all Jai did was sip his drink and smile at the scene. Bani felt oddly satisfied looking at the cute smile on his face. Jai, she said to her heart… Nice name…
